Joe doesn’t believe in writing about transactions just to write about transactions. This site has always been, and will always be, about subjects that interest Joe.
Joe doesn’t give a damn about guys signed to a practice squad, for example. If a guy isn’t good enough to make the 53-man roster, then why should Joe waste his time writing about him?
So when the Bucs released linebacker Brandon Magee today, a scrub linebacker who was mainly a special teams guy, with all the news coming out of Phoenix and elsewhere, this barely made a blip on Joe’s radar. Meh.
Well, Joe is writing about this transaction now because there is a story behind the story, an interesting one at that. Only minutes after getting his walking papers from the Bucs, per Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times, Magee bolted for baseball.
“I’m grateful for the opportunity they gave me at the time. Right now, I’m focused on spring training,” Magee said Wednesday morning as he drove to Fort Myers and the Red Sox minor-league complex.
Magee, Auman writes, dabbled with baseball with the Red Sox in-between his football duties. It sure appears like Magee’s football career is over.

On a personal level I wish him the best. When your entire life has been athletics it’s hard to let go. Perhaps he can catch on as a baseball player.

I’m a little shocked. JOE doesn’t care much about practice squad players??? With JOE’s credentials, I thought he would know all about the BUC’s entire roster. JOE makes himself look like an elitist. That’s not a compliment.

How about:
1st) If you are more than a writer (and of course you made it look like, like you actually are a Bucs-Fan), you will want this team to succeed.
And if you aren´t too dumb, you will know, that there are diamonds practice squads.. Most of the time, there are talent, who who would deserve to realy get paid aka making the 53, at the very least, more deserving than Omameeeeh, or Cousins.. or Mike Jenkins (due to upside.. Mike J and experience??? Experience isn´t worth anything when you doing a bad job..)
2nd) Because you are writting for Bucs fans – so even if you aren´t totaly interested – the visitors “pay” you (no clicks/commentators – no income esse 😉 )
and Bucs fans want their team to succeed.. pretty much the point abouth..

Joe, if you think about it:
Fans want to read about their team and how they could get better next season (selling hope).
Now look: Even garbage type of bucs-news outlets make money with people who pay for the poor articles with little knowledge.. (not looking at anybody.. just P…. Report and P doesn´t stand for the wounderfull world you can find between..never mind..)
Lets just say: Joe suddenly takes his articles to antother level, with good knowledge of the game, not advocating some ??? players; making good anlyses of players others maybe didn´t have on their radar – or interesting ideas which would still makes sense (like trades of future picks) – all while keeping his own unique writting style and posting Rachel Watson photos here and there (Only cheerleader worth of having a statue inside OneBucPalace – IMO.. you have good cheerleader scouting skills, thats for sure 😉 )
Maybe you could boost your readers Number + even make a InsiderMembersSection.. just saying (i mean, if people would pay for the other sites BS..)

With all due respect to the previous poster, keep the site free please! No pay for reading “BS” articles that are re-treads and speculations pieces. I prefer not to pay for a site’s 15 mock drafts and can care less whether they got 3 of the 12 picks right on 4 of the mock drafts and 12 of their “watch lists” to justify their membership rates! If their website truly had all the “insider”info in it regarding what the HC & GM was thinking of doing (or maybe what they planted in there to make other clubs think they were doing and thinking) wouldn’t the other 31 NFL clubs also be subscribers? This site is popular because of the daily posts and the ability of the fans to comment back. Don’t mess with a formula that’s already working.

Try staying (or being) cool man; i just wrote, Joe should keep his style and everything, but should also think about the Fans who make this site a success.
Therefore he should care about the Practice Squad too (and not only of this team). All Joe does (as much as i know) is writting about Football.
Therefore: he could give us great coverage.
But Joe fails in idntifying good prospect for the Bucs to sign and stuff..
Therefore he won´t be able to even demand 50Cent for articles.
BUT
if he shows great scouting talent, finding gem players that went under the radar in the Bucs-News outlets… then he could even make an Membership extra…
Or just asking for Readers to donate a little sth. for the great coverage..
But nevermind Kaptain, Joes level of scouting abilitys just aren´t that good + he endorses way too many ??? kind of players..

My comments were intended that I didn’t think (compared to another Bucs website that bragged about being the preeminent Bucs content magazine around and that is also coincidentally an online “pay” subscription website) that the information you were getting was it: A) really worth the price? and B) were you really getting or capable of getting “true” insider information. I actually used to pay for my online subscription for my Bucs info at a certain unnamed Bucs website that used to be a printed magazine before. My comments weren’t specifically intended at your own observations.
I agree though with you (louden) that Joe could step up their level of scouting and detail information and provide a pay as you go section for those subscribers, but it is about supply and demand and whether people will truly want AND pay for content. I was merely chiming in with my own 2 cents as a former paid subscriber for content that would think that subscription sites/editors would eventually be too tempted/greedy to withhold what they consider quality content to publish only on those pay articles OR those “free” articles would always reference the pay articles for “more” information about how they were “always” right or how you can get the rest of the story from the pay article/subscription site. I felt with certain head coaches or GMs that the info coming from them was B.S. or planted info anyway that they just said to reporters to throw them or other teams off. Hence why I personally stopped and will not pay for articles again.
Scouting is so subjective and can be loosely compared to the stock market/gambling. You just never really know and injuries can happen so often to change a player’s projections in the NFL. How often is that Mel Kiper Jr. guy right with projecting talent to the NFL? JoeBucsFan is more of a fan writer and a fan writer’s website to be (again agreeing with you louden) unbiased with his (their) commentary on Free Agents and Collegiate players (sorry Joe; see Manzel, Winston, etc. still love ya Joe!) But that’s the beauty of the site and what separates it from the others! That and these lovely comment sections we love so dearly.
