Bucs War Room

March 3rd, 2015

jason and lovie

Yes, free agency is now seven days away. The dinner bell will ring loud for all NFL fans to hear.

What the Bucs do in free agency will provide an idea of where they are headed in the draft.

Yesterday on NFL Network, Daniel Jeremiah, Charles Davis and Curtis Conway played the role of Bucs general manager Jason Licht and tried to predict what players on are the Bucs’ radar, and who might be coming to Tampa Bay.

Joe gets hammered some times for being too harsh on the offensive line. Well, in this video, every position the troika believes needs an upgrade is listed in red. The entire Bucs offensive line is in red! Among the players the threesome mention that could be coming to Tampa Bay is Penn State offensive lineman Donovan Smith.

Gee, Joe wonders where they got that idea?

    I read the articles here but for some reason I only care about the Jameis Winston articles. When a qb is this poalizing and good you have your franchise qb people. Whether you like it or not Jameis hasn’t played a down of NFL football yet but he is already a national/household name. I wanted Jameis to defend himself but I am starting to believe that his lawyers just might be giving him good counsel.

  2. Newbucsfan!!! Says:

    Like I was saying before I hit submit, James’s lawyers just might be giving him good counsel by having him sit back and be quiet. While his detractors keep their agenda’s alive and the facts refute all of their claims. In the short term it’ll hurt but in the long term every media outlet that is spewing this negativity will make themselves look bad especially if the Bucs win continually.

  3. James Pearls Says:

    Should be easy – All we need is a two new DEs, new LB, new safety, new offensive line, new veteran QB, new young QB, new TE, new HC new GM new uniforms … the list goes on…

  4. Newbucsfan!!! Says:

    I encourage everyone to be patient in spite of all the ignorance because arguing who is better between the two qb’s is like trying to tell some people that Peyton Manning is a better qb than Tom Brady. I don’t know if Manning has ever had a top 3 or 5 defense but he continually had his teams contending for superbowls not just playoffs. He carried the Broncos to the superbowl and made everyone look better some almost great. How would Manning have fared if he had a rex ryan defense or ravens defense(ray and the crew in their prime) or Bear defense when lovie was there(where defense and special teams alone got you to the playoffs). This is Winston and his college behavior will be forgotten too if he wins a lot in Tampa Bay.

  5. Newbucsfan!!! Says:

    I’ll say this then retire for the night: How in the hell are you going to say that Winston would be the concensus #1 overall pick if it were not for his off-field issues and with a straight face turn around and say that Mariota may not only be on his level but better even though he is the 2nd best qb in the draft?

    Winston is an NFL starter day one but Mariota is still better even though it may take him a little time to learn?

    If Mariota can put it all together with his speed he’ll be just like A. Rod but Winston has reached his ceiling and that’s just an NFL starter, WHAT? Winston will win you some games but in the future it’s Mariota all day?

  6. Bill Says:

    @Newbuc,

    Sounds like you’re arguing with yourself. Just make a statement.

    We’re gonna draft a QB (barring trade). We need OL help, Safety, nickel back. Everything else is preferable but not necessary. Free agency should be fun.

  7. "TheKevin" Says:

    @newbucfan

    Why don’t you just suck off jameis a little more.

    My god what bias you have.

    Idiot

  8. Luther Says:

    The “idiot” is right. If his background checks out, he should be the pick.

  9. Pawel Chrobak Says:

    I have to give big credit to L&L for finding guys like Lansannah, McDougald, J.Smith, and even LB Lemon, plus Murray. So that’s like 5 guys there and about 2 bad OL signing and maybe M. Johnson if he really wasn’t playing hurt last year. Maybe they can find some good undrafted linemen.

  10. BucsQcCity Says:

    Sign mccourty amd a bunch of capable OL. Draft QB 1st, MLB or OL in 2md and BPA next

  11. tmaxcon Says:

    This the most dangerous time of the season with loser Lovie in charge. All bucs fans should be praying to whatever God they prefer that Lovie does not set franchise back even further than his dumb arse did last year.

    Save the Bay! Draft Winston Fire Lovie

  12. JoeJoes Fungi Nails Says:

    L&L made a trade
    Lovie gets Suh in FA
    and Licht gets to draft Mariota
    that is what the photo is showing

  13. Phil Says:

    Couldn’t agree with tmaxcon more. Can’t wait for Lovie to be gone. Anyone who cuts one of the three best defensive players in the league is a moron. I sure bet Revis was happy he didn’t have play for Lovie.

  14. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    Could change the name of the Bucs FA war room to “The Hunting Ground”….

  15. Tom Edrington Says:

    Free Agency “dinner bell”?

    Free Agency is the direction teams go when they fail miserably with their drafts….

    I also see Newbucfan isn’t a comment guy, he’s an essay writer….

  16. BK Says:

    Newbuc can’t see through his Garnett colored glasses. Holy not seeing the whole picture. Who said Jaemis was ready to start? What a joke.

  17. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    @Newbucsfan

    Even though I think you got up too early or went to bed too late……you make a good point about Winston’s ignoring the allegations. At this stage, he is better off doing that because even defending himself keeps the topic relevant and in the news.

    His defenders should do the same on JBF….just ignore the haters with the rape posts….they are trying to bait you and they are succeeding.

  18. bucco brice Says:

    depth is a huge issue…why they have to re-sign guys like Stocker, Clayborn, Fletcher and Jenkins at reasonable salaries….and vets like Goldson, Jackson and Mankins have to be kept around despite the high salaries

  19. Buc Neckid Says:

    @Newbucsfan!!! Says = Joe(s)’ pen Name

    ——————————————————————————————
    what about the team that drafted then traded him? jets were morons for trading him? talk about a diva…..football goes way beyond being the best player. who the hell gives a player 16 million dollars on a team that can only win 4 games with said player? he’s a man cover corner playing In a cover 2, a defense that has traditionally never had high caliber corners…damn couch coaches with a war room in front of their TV’s…… if Daniel Jeremiah, Charles Davis and Curtis Conway knew soo much they would be working for some team not for the network, why is it people take whatever they hear on tv as law.

    32 teams in the nfl, imagine discussing depth behind starters lol is frank gore’s backup a household name, who is the third receiver in Miami, who is worried about the backup behind the saint’s or the falcons receiving core. very few teams have depth and you know those teams like green bay a team that can afford to let it’s slot receiver go because they think the guy behind him is just as productive. does anyone really think they saw the depth in our linebacking core? we traded castillas and promoted a guy meaning there was depth there and only place we lack in on that position is the mike….it’s tv people made to entertain damn you mean you cant imagine why they aren’t gm’s I guess lol

    “Joe gets hammered some times for being too harsh on the offensive line.” – Joe

    Who the heck is dumb enough to do that????

  22. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

    Bill Says
    “We’re gonna draft a QB (barring trade).”

    Yes, but in which round?

    If there is anything I’ve learned in the decades I’ve followed this team, it’s that when the draft comes, be prepared for the unexpected…because it almost always turns out that way.

    For example, who expected the Bucs to take two DTs with their first 2 picks one year, and then 2 DEs the next? Who expected the Bucs to go ALL offense last year (even though some people try to claim Lovie ignores the offense)?

    Who expected them to take Josh Freeman when they took him? Heck, Gurden’s drafts were all unexpected.

    What I’m saying is this…it is entirely possible that the Bucs wake a line player in the first round, and either Brett Hundley or Bryce Petty in round 2.

    We’re all hoping for a QB with the first pick, but Lovie and Licht might view one of those two guys with more like than we expect.

    Expect the unexpected.

  23. bucs4lyfe Says:

    o line is a unit so when a when your guards sucks your center is going to suck, when your center is awful It throws off everything, you switch the right tackle to left and put a scrub in there to replace that person at right tackle or put guys in the game name gilkey yea of course the offensive line is an easy target….joe is extremely sensitive, I try not to be hard on you because your on the Winston wagon with all the other sensible people

  24. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

    I couldn’t disagree with tmaxcon more. Lovie has not set the team back. Evans is not a set back.

    Tedford was not his fault, and neither was Arroyo, who Tedford wanted as his QB Coach.

    Going all offense last year? Well, maybe addressing the defense a little would have helped, but they did bring in Verner, who has panned out. Mankins will earn his pay this year, just wait.

  25. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

    @bucs4lyfe

    Blame it all on the center then, because he sucked like a black hole. EDS has got to be the worse center in the league.

    The Bucs have traditionally struggled with centers. That’s why, when we get one, I hate to see him cut or traded.

  26. ADown88 Says:

    FREE AGENCY:

    Tackle: Bulaga or Free (Need one of them)
    Guard: Boling or Wisniewski
    Safety: Rahim Moore (While everyone fights over McCourty)
    Corner: Perrish Cox
    D-End: Jerry Hughes

    (Cut Goldson, Collins and Koenen)

    DRAFT:
    1. Winston
    2. Perryman / Kendricks
    3. Tyler Lockett
    4. O-Line Depth
    5. O-Line Depth
    6. Punter
    7. Someone Fast…

    And then I have hope!!

  27. bucs4lyfe Says:

    @BuccaneerBonzai

    no no no I was more or less blaming the guard play for screwing up the entire line. your guards cant be bad and you have a center playing at a probowl level, he’ll be having to watch their backs long before the ball snaps. think about if cousins or gilkey are both too dumb to get the protection calls presnap or the ball is snapped and your foot work is so bad the center has to cover your errors on every play because that’s basically what he does. pressure was coming from bullrushing right over the guards more than over the center…..no the guard and tackle situation killed the entire line. you shore up the weak links on the line and watch EDS and Mankins play at the level you expect them too

  28. ADown88 Says:

    Yeah, I dont agree at all about us needing an entire line, thats just stupid. Dotson, Mankins and EDS are fine. The other 2 spots were just so bad that it made everyone look bad. We need a RG and either a LT or RT, since Dotson has the flexibility of playing on either side.

  29. Barry Bryan Joel all agree Says:

    It was a good night for #TheCreepyCrab, he wasn’t accused of rape. In fact he wasn’t accused of any crime. Thank you #LockAndKey
