Even Stevie Wonder can see why the Bucs are on the cusp of rancid NFL history.
The last decade has been so frustrating for Bucs fans they have kept countless bars in business just trying to wash away painful memories.
Since the Bucs jettisoned Chucky, this franchise has largely — but for one season — been a laughingstock. It’s enough for Bucs fans to throw bar stools across rooms.
The longer we step away from 2010, the greater the miracle of Raheem Morris guiding the Bucs to a 10-win season and a near-miss playoff berth. How the hell did that happen?
Think it has been bad recently? Leave it to the “Custodian of Canton, eye-RAH! Kaufman of the Tampa Tribune to offer evidence. The Bucs are on the cusp of some sickening NFL history.

This just in: The Bucs are damned near a lock to set this NFL history because — all together now — they have the fifth-best quarterback in the four-team division.
Until or unless this nonsense changes, the Bucs are going to be the Charmin of the division. It’s that simple.
Stevie Wonder can connect these dots, yet too many Bucs fans still think Woody Hayes football wins championships.

that’s the weakest stat I’ve ever heard ever….im sure lovie will get all the blame for that stat even though that failure belongs to the GM MARK DOMINICK. the common denominator in the last decade is mark Dominick who hired signed the players and hired the coaches. the ones who think bucs got worse because lovie is here clearly have been in a coma since Dominick cut derrick brooks

the great miracle of 2010, the Year that the Bucs still finished 3rd in the division. And that was with the Saints letting the bucs win in the last game as they were pulling players for the playoffs!
Oh yea, 2010 that was the year that the Panthers tanked the whole season for the 1st pick in the draft!

Lovie turned over more than 1/3 of the roster last year and turned in the worst Bucs record in 28 years. Do not say he was tanking because that’s an idiotic argument. So anyone acting like Lovie deserves even a slight pass and everything that went wrong last season is Schiano and Dominik’s fault should be institutionalized. Lovie sucks, literally loses to .500 and better teams more than twice as often as he wins.

Its funny how Lovie gets so much hate. Give the guy a break. He’s a proven WINNER. He got fired in Chicago after going 10-6. I WOULD LOVE 10 WINS!!!! Look how bad Chicago’s defense has been since he left.
It was terrible that Tedford had to leave and we had to give the job to a nobody. $hit happens. 1 bad season does not make you a bad coach.
Now, if he goes this season and we only get 2,3,4 wins, then yes, LOVIE HAS TO GO.

Even with Mariota or Winston, the Bucs will have, at most, the 4th best QB in the divsion until Brees retires.
But that doesn’t matter.
What really matters is that the Bucs have the 4th best head coach in the division.

The Bucs have lost so many games in the past that it’s easy to become numb to the mounting losses. That will make the winning that much more special. That turnaround is not so far away.

Uh,
Defense will always WIN CHAMPIONSHIPS. Its like a Heavy weight fight, you can dance around all you like-Throw all your little punches. But eventually after a few well delivered body blows-You’ll drop them hands and get your chin checked-Game over buddy.
Seen way to many overhyped, so called high powered get moped up by dominant defenses.
Every decade, you hear how the evolution of the passing game/rule changes will level the playing field. Yet still dominant defenses lay them on their backs errrrr time.
When the NFL decides to flip the switch and turns into the Arena League football-Many of us will stop watching

• Gotta have Good Defensive Line to Deliver a punch
(Chew up the clock)
• Running game must be control the line of scrimmage-Which in return
allows the QB to counter punch with play action. When I last checked-All of that still helps you win the time of position battle.

Bucs have the 4th best coach….so your giving the falcons head coach who’s done absolutely nothing, has nothing for a roster, has drafted no one and was piggybacking off pete carroll more than the proven lovie coach? you give sean payton and ron rivera something over lovie? what have riverboat ron done that lovie hasn’t? you mean like the time he went to the superbowl? what about that time Atlanta went to the superbowl lol. sean payton caught fire one year and won the superbowl during bounty gate and haven’t done anything since and they are clearly on the decline simply because drew brees is hmmm isn’t that something

Since making the Super Bowl in 2007 (literally all anyone has that makes Lovie anything other than a bad coach), Lovie has 1 playoff appearance in 8 seasons. That’s a proven winner to you Bucs4lyfe? Consistently missing the playoffs is proven winning? Losing to .500 or better teams more than twice as much as beating them is consistently losing to good teams. Lovie is the most overrated coach in recent memory. Mediocrity defined, yet touted as great.

dude thats a horrible stat considering he wont the NFC North in 05 and 06 and then again in 2010, he’s only been NFC champion once when he lost the superbowl but saying he has 1 playoff appearance in the last 8 seasons i stupid because you add in the first year with the bucs who havent been to the playoffs in over a decade and the year before when he wasnt even coaching how dumb is that….he coached in 6 playoff games meaning he’s a winning coach. pete carroll was a losing head coach that went running back to college before he came back and was losing before russell wilson just like lovie. for all the losing falcons mike smith had what did it get him? ron rivera is no one to fear and neither is sean payton…..this entire division is mediocre but enough please stop scouring the newspaper for stat quotes because it’s pathetic

So 1 in 7 is somehow awesome? And it’s not years as in the calendar year, it’s seasons. In 7 of Lovie’s last 8 seasons, he has missed the playoffs. If you wanna take out the Bucs year, fine, I guess being an 85% failure as opposed to an 87.5% failure is so much better.
Division titles? Pft, Brad Childress won 2 of those in years (which prorates to the same as Lovie over 9 years). 6 playoff games coached in 10 years as a coach is pretty terrible. Jim Harbaugh got to 9 in only 3 years. Only the delusional fans in this fanbase think he’s good. Everyone else has figured out he’s not that good. Think of it this way: If you took Devin Hester off the Bears those years, does Lovie have a single playoff season? Maybe 1, but that’s it. Devin Hester > Lovie Smith to the Bears success.

Not for long. Winston will be better than both Newton and Ryan. Once Brees retires in 1-2 years, the Bucs will have the BEST QB in the division.
I agree that Bruce Allen and Mark Dominik are largely responsible for the 30-70 record over the last 100 games.

So maybe it’s me but it’s better to win less than to win more. Heisman winners track record is abysmal. So obviously both players have that red flag.

5th best qb in our division? That is too kind of aan assessment Joe as it makes the assumption that only one backup qb in the division is better than McNown or Napoleon; perhaps it is safer to say the Bucs are on the cusp of having a top 10 qb in division as I am sure a couple of the 3rd stringers would produce better than any Tampa qb on the roster in 2014….
