“You Need To Move On”

January 31st, 2015
Is Lovie listening?

Is Lovie listening?

Truly fantastic interview here that Bucs fans — new and old — will want to see.

Bucs icon Derrick Brooks hits on everything from the conversation he had with Father Dungy when Dungy was fired, to takes on Team Glazer, to Lavonte David, to acknowledging 2014 failures in free agency, to how Jameis Winston should be Tampa Bay’s pick but is not ready to be the face of the franchise from Day 1 and will require a team effort.

Great work by Mike Florio, of NBC Sports, and No. 55.

Enjoy.

And much love to DB but WHY IN THE PHUCK would you spend the NO. 1 overall pick on someone who is “not ready to be the face of the franchise from day one and it will take a Team Effort” to get him ready???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
Im against both qbs. Winston because of the risk factor and Mariota because he is supposedly not ready to play on Day One as a No. 1 Overall pick is SUPPOSED to do. NOW you are telling me that not only is there Risk with JW but he ALSO is not ready.
Geeeesh you guys down there in the Tampa area sure have your judgement clouded.

  2. Jim Says:

Putting music on a website is STUPID.

  3. carlstoe Says:

Please more details on why he isn’t ready and what the team needs to do?

  4. Mr. Patrick Says:

Sorry, but this is not a message board. This has nothing to do with your specific link or you. But it’s not a “comment” to send someone to a link away from Joe’s website. That’s not what this forum is for. Joe’s explained this to others, or just deletes links like this often.–Joe

  5. gatrbuc17 Says:

    @carlstoe…………………DB a couple weeks ago
“I think that’s got to be twofold,” Hall of Fame LB Derrick Brooks said. “I think Jameis has to have his own plan of maturity and (have) his representatives discuss that and he be able to communicate that during personal interviews with teams. And whatever team that (drafts him) is going to have to have that internal player development for him as well.

“To say that he’s ready? No. He’s not. He’s not ready for being in this position and what this position calls for. … He can’t imagine it. He hasn’t been through it.”

  6. Mr. Patrick Says:

    @ Joe,
So shouldn’t Bucs fans have all info from all sides to be able to form their intellegent decisions, or does that seriously hurt you narrative? I really hope that you read this NY Times Article before you deleted it to keep these facts away from your readers

  7. StPeteBucsFan Says:

    @Mr. Patrick

    Thanks for that GREAT link!!!

It comes fromthe nation’s leading newspaper and comes from the media center of the world. It’s neither pro Jameis nor anti Jameis and if anybody here still has an open mind and wants to see what the REAL story is about, this is mandatory reading. It’s objective and fair and simply states documented facts augmented by OPINIONS of NFL draft experts and folks like Brian Billick.

“Only an idiot would fail to recognize the heightened sense of concern about these kinds of offenses right now,” Billick said. “And for a change, you might see several owners get very active in the draft process for that reason. Although it won’t prevent someone from taking Jameis Winston.”

This is not the same as saying do not draft Jameis. It’s simply acknowledging that there are legitimate concerns. The DB endorsement certainly helps calm us. It’ll take a ton of due diligence from the Bucs to close the deal.

And according to Brian Billick it also says that people who make fun of those with concerns about Jameis are the idiots depseite all the talk about uber morality and choirboy ad hom attacks.

  8. Mr. Patrick Says:

So according to the NY Times, the Sexual Violence Task Force Of Tampa Bay has already met with people in the Buc’s front office about the possibility of them drafting Winston. Interesting

  9. The Buc Realist Says:

I would have loved to hear this video, but there is music that drowns out what Mr Brooks is saying.

  10. Pat Says:

In a nutshell. Look at exhibit A >> In the 95 Draft, we picked 2 players in the 1st round: Sapp#12 & Brooks#28, both HOFers. Look at what the bumbling Bengals did with their promising #1…squat! Either trade down or pick “Big Cat”Williams. The last time the Bucs had the #1 was 28 years ago, picking Heisman Testaverde. How did that turn out?

  11. 87ForJameisNoMariota Says:

Mr. Patrick somehow thinks that the NY Times is a credible paper. It’s always slanted and full of half truths.

It escapes me as to why, but oh well.

  12. Mr. Patrick Says:

    @87
The NY Times is the nation’s largest and most read newspaper and website. I’m sorry if their stories are above your reading ability

  13. StPeteBucsFan Says:

    @87

It escapes you because of your own prejudices. The NY Times still practices journalism. If you read the article you would see it was objective unlike the cheerleaders on cable TV!!!

Again from the writers Anais Nin….“We don’t see things as they are, we see them as we are.”

You are clearly a Nole fan who has been totally blinded by your own prejudices. That’s fine. We respect your loyalty and passion but totally discount any sense of objectivity.

The NYTimes does not have these prejudices.

  14. Mr. Patrick Says:

The Tricky Calculus Of Drafing Jameis Winston. Google it

  15. MadMax Says:

Look, Ive had a few psycho girls in my past. Things dont go their way and they flip the F out. Anyway, theres pics of them obviously together, so I obviously question the validity of her claims….and changes in her story further questions her credibility.

If we go Winston, Im good with it, especially him over Mariota. But Im a little superstitious and just cant get over that Heisman curse…..and thats just part of the scenario for me.

Like Brooks said, its gonna take time. He knows the trenches are where its at and that area MUST be fixed.

  16. StPeteBucsFan Says:

    @MadMax

While your points are accurate they do not reflect the entire story. Follow Mr. Patrick’s addvice and google that story.

It is not anti Jameis nor pro Jameis. It clearly acknowledges his talent and the fact that were it not for his knuckleheaded behavior he would be an easy #1 pick.

It doesn’t waste time on Jameis guilt or innocence…merely how society and NFL GM’s might react to his actions.

The most difficult problem as Brian Billick points out is the PATTERN. Billick points out that young and stupid should be the same word. He reflects on how he and others have judged some actions as simple immature mistakes in different draft prospect. What he always looked for was a pattern. Was it a one time youthful mistake or part of a pattern that more clearly reflected the character of the draft choice.

AGAIN this piece does not say that Jameis should or should not be the #1 pick. It simply examines the challenges that go into the selection.

  17. MadMax Says:

    I commented after I read it….

  18. Barry Says:

Not to change the subject but that’s a creepy picture of Brooks and Smith. #DontAskDontTell

  19. gatrbuc17 Says:

“I have said that young and stupid should be one word,” Billick said. “But it’s not always serious, and what you’re really looking for is a pattern. Was it a mistake that showed immaturity, or is it a recurring thing and an indication of his true personality and his way of doing things?

“That’s what might hurt Winston the most — his pattern of behavior.”

  20. Barry Says:

I tried to order a Winston Bucs jersey but I couldn’t get the number 833920 on it.

  21. MadMax Says:

Ok, I shouldve further read your post SPBF. Now I get you. To me, its the bb gun and crab leg stealing incidents that stands out a lot. Young and dumb yes, especially when you’re not a ncaa star and hardly any eyeballs on you. But him where he is, yes, completely understandable. Sorry, I shouldve completely read your post.

  26. Bill Says:

Well, now DB has officially endorsed Winston. The Bucs icon who has more access to Winston than most (if not all) other NFL voices, and especially the voices here.

  27. Mr. Patrick Says:

    @ Bill
What Brooks says means absolutely nothing. It’s not his team or his money

  28. Mr. Patrick Says:

    @ MGM
Williams is by far the safest pick at #1 in the draft and your “win now” guy. Gonna be a Beast. Can you imagine him next to GMC in Lovie’s defense?

  29. lurker Says:

“The NYTimes does not have these prejudices.”
    bullspit!

there are prejudices by writers and editors and pressure on both to get views and hits. if papers aren’t sensationalizing, they are dead.

  30. lurker Says:

williams is a risk just like any other player. you go qb#1, period. how did last year’s can’t miss #1 defensive player help his team?

  31. Mr. Patrick Says:

    @ Lurker
Im calling major BS on you Dude. You might as well just admit that if Winston was a white guy we would never hear a peep out of you. You can try to discredit anything that anybody writes on here that goes against your man-crush with your little immature snide, in denial comments but everybody just ignores you now because they all know your motives. So get your G.E.D. and try to get into the grown man group. If you can manage to say any intellegent or humorous things then maybe people on here will take you more seriously. But for new, just meh

  32. Bill Says:

    @Patrick,

I’ll be disappointed if we take Williams, but not upset. There’s no doubt he’d be a great addition to the D-line. Physical stud, can play all positions….he’d be a great pick. I think Winston is the better choice.

  33. Pickgrin Says:

Holy $hiz Patrick. Give it a freakin rest already.

If you don’t think that most people are sick and tired of your anti-Winston onslaught – (even quite a few that would prefer Mariota probably) then you are dead wrong.

You and Gatorbuc and NYbuc and a few others are just turning thread after thread (too many unrelated threads as well!) into the big Jameis slam fest. Over and over again – saying the same BS and not even acknowledging reasonable points that contradict your borderline hateful viewpoint. 30-40-50+ posts everyday.

Give it a rest dude. Not sure what you are trying to do – but if you think you are influencing anyone towards disliking Winston with all your posts – then you are mistaken. If anything – what you are doing with this prolific internet hate campaign is hurting your cause – not helping it.

Joe gives us this fantastic interview (Thanks Joe!!!) with the greatest Buccaneer of all time really opening up and revealing some great stuff – and all you want to do is make 10-20 posts on here bashing Winston. SMDH

  34. Mr. Patrick Says:

    @ Pickgrin
Very happy that you are paying attention. Keep reading my and the other intellegent folks you mentioned posts and maybe you will open up your mind about what is actually best for the Bucs

  35. lurker Says:

awwwwwwww see patrick, other are tired of you!

it is so cool seeing a 70 year old like you patrick using meh, like the younger people. did your sons teach you that?

and what are you calling bs on, patrick? that newspapers sensationalizing to stay relevant? that williams is not a risk? that the #1 surefire top-rated d-lineman last year didn’t help his team?

you just get flustered too easily. you talk silly stuff. i called you on your misleading link yesterday and you are still mad?

  36. lurker Says:

you and intelligence is another falsehood, patrick smh

  37. Mr. Patrick Says:

    @ Bill
Agreed he is a stud and will be a star in the league. He may not be my or other people’s first choice, but he would be the safest pick at #1 and probably best for the Bucs. I really do think that if the Bucs keep the #1 pick that they will play it safe, which is probably the smartest thing

  38. Bill Says:

Every great team has a player who serves as the moral cornerstone and a player who provides the fire. It’s almost impossible for the roles to be filled by the same player. We had Brooks as the silent leader, and Sapp was the fire.

Right now we have GMC who is the silent leader, the moral cornerstone. We need a Sapp. We need some fire. We need some swag as the Canes would say. Winston “will” be that guy. He is that guy.

Who on this team provides attitude, an identity? Who’s gonna headbutt Luke Kuechly?

  39. Mr. Patrick Says:

    @ Lurker
You are funny, and slightly entertaining in a pitiful sort of way. Go get your G.E.D and listen to the grown men. I see now that the reason you defend Winston with so many of your snide, 16 year old remarks on other people’s posts is that you look up to him. Did you ever actually play organized football? Have you been to Tally and saw in person an FSU game? Listen to the more experience football people on here who were probably out coaching football before you were even a sperm and you may learn something

Very happy that you are paying attention.

Yea – I’m paying attention – to the fact that you are being a royal douche and annoying the hell out of most all who come and participate on JBF forums with your constant barrage of hate and slander against Jameis Winston.

If your goal – or more accurately agenda – is to “open up mind(s) about what is actually best for the Bucs” – then trust me – you are failing miserably because your approach to “persuasion” is about as effective as Garrett Gilkey starting at Center.

  44. lurker Says:

funny how you think i’m 16 with a g.e.d., and yet i carry myself in a more mature way than you. also, my vocabulary is more advanced as well as my thinking skills.

all you do is slander, defame, cry, manipulate, insult, mislead, obfuscate, defend racists, and just make crap up.

so “the whole female fanbase will not root for the bucs if winston is drafted.” is that still correct?

  45. ndog Says:

All you people asking for Leonard Williams let me ask you how did the best de in the draft last year help the Texans?

  46. lurker Says:

    from rob rang, nfldraftscout.com
    via cbssports.com 1/23/15 8 days ago

    1. Leonard Williams (cut for brevity)
    2. Randy Gregory (cut for brevity)

    3. Jameis Winston, QB, 6-4, 235, rSo., Florida State: If not for Winston’s off-field issues he would rank not only as my top quarterback, but my top-ranked overall prospect. His combination of size, functional mobility, anticipation and arm talent translate very well to the next level. In terms of accuracy from the pocket — still most important when projecting quarterbacks to the NFL — Winston clearly outplayed Mariota in the Rose Bowl.

    4. Marcus Mariota, QB, 6-4, 215, rJr., Oregon: Mariota’s mesmerizing physical traits have long captivated scouts and there is no question that he earned the Heisman Trophy and was the key to Oregon’s berth in the national title game. He is not, however, the “can’t miss” prospect that some imply. He is potentially a special weapon because of his speed in an era of dual-threat quarterbacks and has intriguing potential as a passer. He is a good, not great, pocket passer at this time and could struggle with the tighter windows he’ll see in the NFL

  47. lurker Says:

so if the bucs’ investigation and interviews make them comfortable with winston, they take him. he is the number one prospect and talent in the draft. so you can draft for need and bpa.

  48. Bill Says:

The idea that the Bucs will discover something about Winston that we don’t already know is funny to me. ESPN has more resources than the Bucs AND they’ve been sniffing that trail for 2 full years now. The Bucs will have 3 months and less man power. Any story that could be told about Winston has already been told, ESPN was reporting stories about the associates of Winstons teammates before this past season was over. 2 degrees from Winston! LOL!

Now the Bucs will get to interview him and work him out privately, something ESPN could not do, but the idea that the iceberg isn’t fully exposed is silly. He’s been the most investigated athlete in the country for 24 months now. There are no secrets left.

  49. Buccfan37 Says:

I won’t really mind what the Bucs decide to do with the top overall pick. I expect team improvement no matter which direction is taken. A franchise QB would be a first for the Bucs, and if one of the two at the top is the pick, I trust more knowledgeable minds to make that pick. Personally, I like the defensive pick because that’s where the Bucs identity over the decades has shined the most. Improve those O and D lines and that will make a big difference in the win loss record.

  50. lurker Says:

    from said article:

Asked about the prospect of the Bucs selecting Winston, the task force’s chairwoman, Amanda Brennan, said in a statement: “The larger issue is that there have been many allegations against Jameis Winston, yet there is no question that Jameis Winston will be chosen by an N.F.L. team to play next season. As an N.F.L. player, he is a role model for boys and young men across the country. The Sexual Violence Task Force of Tampa Bay would like to know that Jameis Winston will be expected to adhere to a strict standard of conduct.”

lmao, who is she? there is no evidence against winston. what are the “many allegations”? obviously she wants attention for her business, and is using this young man to gain it. she is assaulting his character without meeting with him. and she is nobody to demand that “Jameis Winston will be expected to adhere to a strict standard of conduct.” HER conduct is atrocious and she needs to be held to a strict standard of conduct.

this is weak and is another sorry attempt by patrick to smear jameis winston.

  51. SuperSam Says:

Nov. 25, 2012: A woman calls 911 to report that there are two men on a bike path on the Florida State University campus with what appears to be a black, long-barreled pistol. Police respond and draw their guns as they approach Jameis Winston and his roommate and teammate, Chris Casher, and ultimately handcuff them. The two tell the officer they were shooting at squirrels with a pellet gun, and they are released without charges being filed.

Nov. 25, 2012: A few hours after the incident on the bike path, Winston, Casher and two other Florida State players, Mario Edwards and Kenneth “P.J.” Williams, allegedly engage in a BB- and pellet-gun battle at their apartment house, inflicting an estimated $4,000 in damage. Management at the apartment house declines to press criminal charges after an FSU athletic official vows that the players will pay for the damage.

Dec. 7, 2012: Winston is accused of raping a woman at his off-campus apartment. The woman reports the assault to police that day and five weeks later calls a detective and identifies Winston as her attacker after seeing him in a class. Tallahassee police drop the investigation, contending the woman has refused to cooperate, then revive it nine months later and sent it to State Attorney Willie Meggs. Meggs conducts a new investigation but concludes that there is not enough evidence to file criminal charges. Winston’s lawyer contends the sexual encounter was consensual. The U.S. Department of Education later launches a federal investigation of the school’s handling of the incident after questions arise about whether Florida State followed the provisions of Title IX, and in August 2014 the school launches an investigation of Winston under the student code of conduct.

July 21, 2013: Winston is accused of entering a Burger King in Tallahassee and helping himself to soda from the fountain machine without paying for it. A restaurant employee later tells police she gave Winston a cup of water but that he poured the water out and helped himself to several cups of soda despite her objections. No charges are filed.

April 29, 2014: Winston is accused of stealing $32.72 worth of crab legs from a Tallahassee supermarket. He is given a civil citation that allows him to perform community service and is suspended from the FSU baseball team until he completes that work. Winston tells police he “forgot” to pay for the crab legs and publicly apologizes.

May 20, 2014: Winston is expected at a code-of-conduct hearing for Chris Casher and Ronald Darby, two FSU teammates who alleged the witnessed a portion of the sexual encounter involving the quarterback and the woman who accused him of rape. They are both accused of violating school rules. Winston does not show up for the hearing, and his lawyer contends that no one from the school ever asked him to be there – something that is disputed by attorneys involved in the process. However, FSU officials later acknowledge that they have no way to force a witness to attend a code-of-conduct hearing.

Sept. 16, 2014: Winston is seen by several students jumping up on a table on campus and screaming a sexually charged expletive-laced phrase that was made popular on the internet. FSU head football coach Jimbo Fisher suspends Winston for the first half of the team’s upcoming game with Clemson, and school officials vow that he will be subject to “internal discipline” – most likely under the school’s code of conduct. Winston apologizes.

Oct. 13, 2014: ESPN reports that FSU’s compliance department is investigating whether Winston accepted money in exchange for autographs. The university’s athletic director issues a statement on Oct. 17, explaining that the compliance staff looking into whether Jameis Winston accepted unauthorized benefits for his autograph has “no information indicating that he accepted payment for items reported to bear his signature, thereby compromising his athletics eligibility.”

January 1, 2015: Jameis Winston inexplicably flashes a “smoking weed” sign to fans outside the Rose Bowl.

  52. FortMyersDave Says:

Interesting article form the NYT but I do believe it is a bit slanted against Winston: as the following quote illustrates:

“Winston is not the first high-profile prospect to enter the N.F.L. under a cloud of suspicion. The draft statuses of several players, including Johnny Rodgers in the 1970s, Charles White in the 1980s, Lawrence Phillips in the 1990s and Aaron Hernandez in 2010, were adversely affected by prominent off-field concerns.”

That is a real character assassination; you can not associate Winston with these boys as he has not been convicted of a crime. Granted Larry Phillips got many free passes while at Nebraska while Osborne was touted as one of the best coaches ever along with Joe Pa….. The NYT has always been a provocative work of journalism with an elitist eastern slant that is kinfd of stale to many open minded readers; they probably think that the long dead Bull Connor is still using rubber bullets and fire hoses on marchers in Birmingham yet go bonkers if someone says anything bad about one Hillary Rodham Clinton; its slanted media, plain and simple…….

  53. lurker Says:

YOU have no freaking idea of what went on that night. At minimum Jameis is a slut who loves cheap sex. Me too. That doesn’t make if freaking right!!!!

He was stupid beyond belief for a dude in his position. Cry me a freaking river. He hit the ovarian lottery big time. He’s going to be a MULTI millionaire. WAH WAH. For all those millions, for his own reputation he can’t keep it in his pants?

My momma only taught me one thing about sex. Be careful and do not bring any disease, pregnant women or irate parents home. I succeeded despite my horn dog way. Give it a freaking rest. He’s A GD bonehead who has had it handed to him on a freaking silver platter. YOU should be so damn lucky.. I believe I could be more discreet if I knew my teammates and an entire organization’s reputation was on the line..ESPECIALLY if I knew I was going to be a multi millionaire.

The girl MAY be a gold digger. She may be telling the truth. Neither you nor I know because all evidence was destroyed and the Tallashasse and legal system are obviously FSU athlete’s jock sniffers. Get real. YOU simply do NOT know what happened that night. NONE of us do. But Jameis confessesd to being a cheap thoughtless slut. I’m too damn old to keep hearing this double standard. If a guy behaves like a slut he’s a stud…a woman is a slut. Give this case a rest. You are not only WRONG..you are irrelevant. It’s no longer about his guilt or innocence but his reputation which right now sucks!!!

This is not to say we shouldn’t draft Jameis. It is to say that defaming the girl and all the organization set up who are tired of guys getting away with this double standard is not cool in any way!!! Most research shows that somewhere between 4-8% of all rape allegations are false. What about the 9 out of ten who are raped? Should they come forward and risk comments like yours?

The autograph authentication company that has certified more than 1,000 jerseys, photos, mini helmets and other items as bearing the valid signature of Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston received the items only after an initial authentication firm rejected the job because of concerns about their legitimacy, sources told “Outside the Lines.”

He has been cleared of anything as most of the autographs were said to be fake.

“To be fair, Joe was told the alleged “marijuana signal” Winston displayed was actually mimicking a duck call like on that TV show with those ZZ Top wannabes that Joe has never watched.”

If you watch the video it clearly shows that he had his fingers in a circle wrapped around his lips, making a duck calling gesture. This is just another case of Winston can’t wipe his ass without somebody making a big deal over nothing, but keep whining.

  59. 87ForJameisNoMariota Says:

I’m so glad you guys are keeping yourself occupied with all this rhetoric until draft day.

Have fun, it won’t matter diddly squat come draft day. All this whining for the next 3 months repeating the same old nonsense. Atleast I keep it fresh.

In the end Jameis Winston will be a Buccaneer and you ALL have to support him and the Bucs.

Be careful who you bash…one day you might have to root for them and that would make you a hypocrite.

  60. StPeteBucsFan Says:

    @87

You love FSU and Jameis. But you have reached the point of being co dependent. Jameis has spent his entire life being worshipped and having peope like you DEFENDING his indefensible behavior.

You get no cred on this board because of this BLIND love for Jameis.

A more reasonable argument would go like this. Jameis is immature and has done many knuckleheaded things! In fairness to Jameis, just like Justin Bieber he has received horrible advice from his father and suckup fans like me have worshipped him since they discovered his 97 mph fastball and extraordinary football talent.

Jameis has NEVER been held accountable in any serious way, a half of a football game suspension and suckup fans and coaches have destroyed any chance he had at growing up with any character. It’s not all his fault! The adults around him, including me and all the FSU fans have let him get away with all this crap.

But I believe under it all he’s a good kid lead astray by being FAMOUS Jameis.
The fame went to his head so let’s give him a chance and hope Derrick Brooks can keep him on the straight and narrow and we can keep his old man out of Tampa Bay. There is no doubt he has incredible talent and so let’s draft him #1.

That argument makes sense. But the constant defense of the indefensible makes you all co-dependent with that bad behavior and complicit in all of Jameis’ problems.

    awwwwww why you so touchy?

i never said 1 negative word about the young lady (the accuser), not cleat chaser nor gold digger. all i said is she sold her side of the story.

now if you are talking about the sexual violence task force or amanda brennan, its chair, then i restate that she is overstepping her bounds. there was a lack of evidence on the allegation and yet she is insisting a “strict standard of conduct”. it is not her place.

i am just going by her quotes from the nyt article. there may be more to it, such as, the glazers inviting her input, but that is not stated.

so where is your condemnation coming from? relax, buddy. it might be hard to understand you and then i would have to presume your lack of intellect as you did with winston.

  62. Lefty Says:

Is there any thought to the NY Times slanting things about Winston so as to afford the Jets a shot at him?

  63. StPeteBucsFan Says:

all i said is she sold her side of the story.

Duh…that is the same as being a gold digger. How much do you supposed she earned for her side of the story?
Do you have any proof she SOLD anything? Just sayin’.

I’m touchy because I have seen this all my life. It’s long past time we treat our women with respect. If the woman lied that’s horrible. If Jameis has lied it’s just as horrible. My point is that in the absence of any definitive knowledge of that night we should not take EITHER side.

yet she is insisting a “strict standard of conduct”. it is not her place.

And what is wrong with a strict standard of conduct regarding rape. Do you think we should allow a loose standard of conduct with our women?

There is certainly an argument to be made in favor of drafting Jameis. There is also an argument to be made that all the adults around Jameis have failed just as miserably as Jameis himself. This constant whining about him being unfairly attacked is just absurd. Jameis made his OWN reputation. And because I believe adults and FANS have done him no favors I’m inclined to give him another shot.

It’s not the anti rape organizations or the girl who are the problem. They didn’t make Jameis yell the obscene remark WHILE he was under investigation. They didn’t set up a Tallahassee legal system (insert Tuscaloosa, Gainesville, Columbus OH or any other major college football town) that looks the other way when star athletes do wrong. Give him another chance? I can go with that. Excuse his idiotic behavior by blaming EVERYBODY else. No Way!!!

  64. lurker Says:

again, who is amanda brennan or spbf to say? he was not guilty of “rape”, as you and other defamers say. you say you don’t know, but then keep saying rape and trying to impose your morality on people.

“And what is wrong with a strict standard of conduct regarding rape. Do you think we should allow a loose standard of conduct with our women?”

you have no idea that it wasn’t consensual, but you want to believe the most negative of him. an accusation does not make you guilty. your life experiences must be clouding your views. i’m sorry a woman in your life has experienced sexual assult. unfortunately, most have. that doesn’t mean winston doesn’t act appropriately.

petition changes to the legal system and college system. they seem to be more at “fault” with what you say.

Dude your reading comprehension skills leave a lot to be desired! Do you know how to cut and paste other posters comments? No shame if you don’t but you should learn because your posts literally do not make sense.

Watch what happens when someone simply cuts and pastes what was ACTUALLY SAID!!

    You posted…
“but then keep saying rape and trying to impose your morality on people.”

This after I just posted in TWO different posts..

“The girl MAY be a gold digger.”

“If the woman lied that’s horrible. If Jameis has lied it’s just as horrible. My point is that in the absence of any definitive knowledge of that night we should not take EITHER side.”

At what point did I say Jameis raped anybody? I simply posted incontrovertible facts, not even my opinion.

Now can you cut and paste anything I said that claimed Jameis was guilty of rape? Are we both speaking English here?

Jameis was not found innocent. There was an absence of enough evidence to bring him to trail which alas would have been the only way he could have been found innocent and truly cleared his name. Innocence until proven guilty is not the same as being exonerated.

Again though so you can cut and past this…I am NOT saying Jameis raped anybody. I’m simply saying he is clearly guilty of horrible judgment.

williams is a risk just like any other player. you go qb#1, period. how did last year’s can’t miss #1 defensive player help his team?

Are you talking about Aaron Donald? No Im not talking about Clowney because I knew he would bust….didnt want him. But I did want Donald if we went defense, or Evans if we went offense. And Aaron Donald just got defensive rookie of the year.

Williams is NOT Clowney! No bust there barring a devastating injury.

  67. lurker Says:

    well, please explain then.

i quoted amanda brennan, “The Sexual Violence Task Force of Tampa Bay would like to know that Jameis Winston will be expected to adhere to a strict standard of conduct.” she is talking about jameis winston, as were we.

then you say, “And what is wrong with a strict standard of conduct regarding rape. Do you think we should allow a loose standard of conduct with our women?”

how is it a stretch to say you were talking about jameis and rape?

  68. lurker Says:

    @spbf,

my comprehension skills are actually quite good. if i misunderstood or misrepresented what you said/implied/meant, then i apologize.

  69. mikeh Says:

@ STPETEBUCSFAN- don’t waste your time with 87 and lurker these pinheads have a man crush on Winston and it does not matter what Winston has or may have done. or even may do in the future. he is the best! whatever!!!!!

    hiya meth mike.

in for you daily name calling, i see.

  72. Bill Says:

    StPete,

Holy crap man, letting it all hang out huh?

Jameis is a disrespectful slut for having sex as a red-shirt freshman? He couldn’t even play college ball yet and you’re expecting him to act like a million dollar NFL franchise player? Come on man.

You think FSU fans have let him get away with “all this crap”? Let me remind you it was FSU students who tweeted his student union “declaration”……FSU students did that.

  73. Capt.Tim Says:

I watch his tape, and want to draft him so bad, i damn near salivate!! This guy is our answer for the next 12-14 years. He has all the skills

Then you see this patern of repeated stupity and criminal behavior, and it is clear thos young man is not gonna make it in the NFL.

I know all the apologist are gonna attack my opinion, but there is one basic truth here to me.
Even if he is innocent of all wrong doing( hes not, hes admitted and apologized to many incidents), a person living in the limelight has to be smart enough to to avoid being repeatedly in these situations

Apperently you guys have Forgotten Josh Freeman? He at least came here as a choirboy record. Give him a few million- he sets the franchise back 5 years- partying it up!
Winston is already off the hook.giving him 10 million is gonna throw him futher outta control.

And once again- Tampa is the laughing stock over a failed draft pick.
Winston could very easily turn into Freeman, tanard Jackson, aqib talib.
    Tanard
and Talib both had warning signs.
    Yet we brillianly ignored them

If Winston could be kept in Check- Id love to draft this guy! He can be our QB for years- hes a winner!

I think we avoid wasting the pick- and see what Philly has to offer

  74. StPeteBucsFan Says:

    @lurker

We’re cool. Thanks for giving me the benefit of the doubt about perhaps a woman in my family being sexually assaulted. That’s using your old noggin’.

That possibility would have certainly effected the way I think. I’m happy to say it hasnt…that I know of! I’m a writer and have been lucky enough to have some life experiences and I paid attention.

And believe me I’m not in charge of the “morality police”. That would really be hurling stones from a glass house in my case. Remember when I talked about liking cheap sex and being a slut I said ME TOO!

When I was in the Army in the late 60’s at age 20 I remember a 3 day pass in Bangkok. My two buds just wanted a different girl all three nights. I got really lucky and found a very intelligent thoughtful young woman who was still a “professional”.

She asked my a straightforward question. “Why do all you Americans call us whres and other bad names? What do you call yourself then? Doesn’t it take two to make this happen? You call your own women sluts if they enjoy sex yet the guys who do it with them are studs?”

Let’s just say the odds might be 90-10 that Jameis had “consensual sex”. Consider that 10% chance the girl might be telling the truth. There is NO slam dunk evidence supporting either side. I’m simply saying that giving Jameis the benefit of the doubt while tossing the girl under the bus is just not right. We should simply leave this case alone. At this point Jameis biggest problem is not just this case. It’s the PATTERN!

But again I’ve also said go ahead and draft him if we believe DB can help him straighten out his life. I’m a huge believer in redemption and IF Jameis can turn it around I’ll be just as happy for him as a young man as I would for us Buc fans because Jameis is a great football player.

  75. White Tiger Says:

When he signed to go to FSU, he agreed to behave respectfully, as he would be representing the university every time he’s in public…

That was just for the CHANCE to play football in college…what we’re concerned with is…now, pour MILLION$$$$ of dollar, dollar bilz over this hot mess…and you have massive problems BEFORE he sets foot on the field.

He’s been undisciplined and NOT represented his university well. The NUMBER ONE OVERALL pick goes to someone deserving, someone that has protected his reputation because he knows he’s ALREADY won a national championship, he’s ALREADY won a HEISMAN…he KNEW this was his final season at FSU and the intense media scrutiny that had been applied ALL SEASON…yet (AT BEST), the only thing his RABID supporters can offer is he made a mistake in judgment…?

    WHAT?!

You morons aren’t any different than the Gator fans still trying to figure out what was so wrong with what Aaron Hernandez did anyway…he’s only acting JUST like he did in college?!

Jimbo Fisher ASKED this kid to move on. He’s a train wreck – and it’s always someone ELSE’S fault for letting Jameis be Jameis…while he’s yelling at you to let him do whatever he WANTS to do…he’s FAMEIS….!

AT BEST he’s an indulged pampered athlete who knows he’s supposed to act in accordance with behavior that shows he understands he represents an organization that is bigger than he is…and respects that behavior. Before he WAS FAMEIS…he was Mrs. Winston’s little boy…he was just another almost-famous high school football star who may very likely sat on the bench…fo all the school knew. They did NOT slant anything against him, they gave him everything…all they asked is that Jameis not cause shame their name by acting like a fool…

    oops.

That’s something this franchise can’t afford.

Not with the 1st overall draft pick.
