Chucky: “A Lot Of Teams In The League Would Trade For Nick Foles”

Bucs icon Chucky, the self-proclaimed quarterbacks guru, is all pumped up for his annual made-for-TV quarterbacks camp on BSPN.
Joe can only imagine what the ratings will be in the QB starved neighborhoods of Tampa, St. Pete and Port Richey.
Chucky was interviewed by a Philadelphia TV station recently, and the subject of quarterbacks arose. Philly types are obsessed with the thought of Chip Kelly making a radical trade with the Bucs for the No. 1 overall draft pick, so Oregon star Marcus Mariota can reunite with Kelly.
Chucky made an intriguing comment about the current Eagles QB.
“Look, two years ago, 27 touchdowns, two interceptions. The kid can play,” Chucky said of Nick Foles. “He’s a young player. A lot of teams in the league would trade for Nick Foles. I think Philadelphia’s very fortunate to have a tough guy with massive size.”
Joe’s not lobbying for the Bucs to trade for Foles. But if Chucky is accurate, then perhaps the Bucs are one of those teams who would love Foles, who turned 26 last week. Heck, Bucs overlord of football operations Lovie Smith fell in love with a 35 year old quarterback that never had as good a season as Foles did in 2013.

Bucs HAVE TO stop looking at QBs that can throw 27 TDs in a season. Freeman did too. Low INT rate for one season is just being somewhat lucky. Bucs need to draft a guy who can be capable of throwing 50 TDs every season since they’re in position to try n get one.

Jameis Winston is one of the best QB prospects to come out in the last decade and anything less than drafting Winston #1 overall will be a major F-up and a major disappointment.

You are correct TBBF, there are no guarantees in the draft at ANY position. It’s ALWAYS a gamble. Who knows what might happen to Leonard Williams as well. We have the choice of anyone at all. Scouting department…do your job well and choose either WINSTON or MARIOTA…(I’m beginning to lean Winston). But with the first overall pick…roll the dice…and choose one of the quarterbacks!

Mr. Patrick does prove a point that Winson is facing a PR nightmare…..apparently, the accuser has no problem being very public…..this documentary along with the her Title 9 lawsuit against FSU will assure this issue is front and center.
I do believe it is a shame for both parties that the investigation was incompetent…..it could have either exonerated Winston or indicted him.
Now…there will always be debate and questions as to what really happened.

Whether or not it’s true about the TPD……it doesn’t look good for them..one could expect the FSU PD & University to be protective…..but not the TPD. The Title 9 lawsuit has substantial merit….suspect it will eventually settle.
While, I am one to believe innocent until proven guilty…….I also believe that the accuser could have pursued this quitetly through civil actions….her open public accusations and the documentary cooperation makes me wonder…..her beef isn’t only money…..she’s very motivated for other reasons.

Why would TPD protect a kid who wanst even a starter and knew nothing about his status on the team? All he was at the time was a redshirt who was going to compete for a job the next season. If Jimbo would have named Cooker the starter this would have already been forgotten and a non issue. The fact that he turned out to be the Heisman winner and NC is why this is still a story.

It’s well known FSU and Tallahassee police have covered for football players committing crimes, be it drunk driving or otherwise.
Now this doesn’t mean that Winstonis guilty at all, but it does cast a lot of doubt over the whole thing since the investigation was obviously mishandled. And yes, it’s going to be a PR nightmare regardless.

He had great numbers the first year the league had seen chips system. This year he regressed and was far less accurate. I don’t want someone else’s garbage. Every time we take a player than another team is eager to trade, they end up sucking. The 1 exception has been v-jax.

I have 2 girls in my office right now who think Winston got screwed by a money grabber. These are University of Texas fans who HATE everything FSU / FLORIDA not FSU girls. They both are disgusted by the accusers changing of her story and both have stated repeatedly girls like her make it harder on real rape victims. 1 of these girls is a tree hugging liberal and the other is a gun toting Texan with a bible in one hand and a .45 in the other. The agenda on this university sexual assault epidemic, for which there is not an epidemic, comes from Washington DC.
They have it in their heads that there is rampant raping going on at campuses. That’s why all the press coverage and documentaries and such.
Rolling Stone magazine just ran a big series about it, based on allegations there was a gang rape at the University of Virginia campus. Turned out to be totally bogus, but the agenda continues. Also the Duke Lacrosse Team case.
Sundance film festival is about as left wing as you can get. The “documentary” is surely not to get to the truth or to look at both sides of the story. It just feeds into the “hunting ground” mentality.
Naturally they ignore real statistics, which establish that 50% of rape allegations in a University are later proven false. (through DNA or recantation).
Just another false cause, with the willing participation of the New York Times, Rolling Stone Magazine, BSPN, and now Lady Ga Ga.
They have their agenda and the truth be damned.

Mike Mayock said a few days ago that Williams reminds him mostly of J.J. Watt and could have the same kind of impact. Mr Patrick: have you read the State Attorneys report? If so, you will see her comments in the documentary are in direct contradiction to her own friends comments regarding how she met and left with Winston at the bar. Everyone else involved in the case has maintained the same account of that evening with the glaring exception of her. The State Attorney, no friend to FSU or Winston, illuded to her inconsistent account of her story during his press conference.
If her story is a lie, then what? There is no doubt he is the best QB talent in the draft and the Bucs are in high demand for one of those.

Actually I’ve read about everything that has been made available to the public. Have you? It’s common knowledge that a lot of the inconsistencies of the case are the soul responsibility of the TPD’s handling of the case. Even the State Attorney acknowledges that.
When the alleged victim’s suit against FSU starts, a lot of these inconsistencies and the cover-up by the athletic dept will be exposed. The trial is suppose to last up to 18 months, so there’s 18 months of bad PR for any team foolish or desperate to draft Winston. Not to mention when he signs his pro deal and the civil suits start

The one in five stat. is totally bogus, used by the left wingers to promote their cause.
The reason it is so high is because it is based upon an online survey (from 2007), which includes in the definition of assault things like unwanted kissing, sexists remarks, brushing up against a woman when both persons are fully clothed, etc.
If you want to educate yourself on the real statistics here is a 2013study from The United States Department of Justice, who actually got real data.
The rate of sexual assault for college age woman, 18-24 is 6.1 per 1000.
.006% And the rate has remained stagnant for decades.
But that doesn’t fit the crisis agenda.
It is very similar to the claims that violence by police against African Americans is on the rise.
That is not true either.

She left the bar at 2 a.m. with a guy and went back to his apartment for something…it must have been sex like the numerous times I picked up a girl in my early 20’s in a bar and took her back to my apartment for sex. I never raped one, so they would not have to recall the story. but had she been roofied it is very believable she would have a vague recollection of the events, yet very much remember the face of the rapist. I think that would stick with her.
if she was roofied she would not have much idea where she was, and if her life was not in danger, and said rape was over, it is entirely plausible she took a ride.

I believe the girl went to his apartment to have sex. Saw that it was being taped, had a boyfriend on campus, and didn’t want the video to be passed around the campus ruining her image.
That’s just what I believe. I see 2 side of the coin though. It could have easily went the other way like you’re talking about.
I think people just combine all his other bone headed moves and come to the conclusion that if he kept getting in trouble after the allegation, then he must have raped her. I’m not that short sighted though.
I’m also probably one of the only people on this site that think his past is in the past and there will be no problems the rest of the way.

Are you aware that the FDLE did a drug tox screening and it came back negative for all drugs?
Are you also aware that the sample was then tested a second time at the University of Florida Chem Lab, and it also came back negative for any drugs?
Also, why did she refuse to identify the second set of DNA on her clothes. It turned out to be her boyfriend. Who happens to be black and played QB for her high school.
Additionally, why would her own boyfriend refuse to cooperate in his girlfriends rape case without being forced with subpoena?
So, I choose to NOT believe her based on the evidence, and her friends own testimony that conflicts with hers.

I think one of the bigger factors that should be taken in to account about rape is that only about 2% of rape allegations are actually proven false. Then you have the other part where around 50% of assaults go unreported.

Just so you know, there were 16,500 cases of rape reported just in the U.S. military last year. The military makes up less than 1% of our population. So how much do you think it happened across the entire country? You do the math. Oh, wait…

All I know is that Foles has kicked our butts when we have played him. After watching him on a few occasions play our beloved Bucs you would swear he was a pro bowler. Unfortunely, I think Winston is the best QB in the draft. It’s unfortunate because no matter how many investigations are executed and find no probable cause for rape, there will always be a lot of people like Mr Patrick declaring him guilty. Therefore it doesn’t really matter if he is guilty or not, wherever he goes, it will be a media circus. That makes it hard to really get excited about Winston being the face of the franchise.

I have not posted any media reports on the case. I posted a quote from someone who was raped and never reported it. That was her viewpoint and I agreed with it mostly.

They had DNA from Winston and it matched his DNA. Not sure where you get that you can only obtain DNA through consensual sex. Also, had her boyfriends DNA because they had sex earlier in the day before she was at the club. I don’t know about blood in the underwear (wasn’t my quote). Same goes for bruises.

Notice how the incident of rape is on the decline, not increase, as is all other violent crime in the United States.
But this does not fit into the “hunting grounds” nonsense that is currently being peddled.
The 1 in 5 or 1 in 4 stat is utter nonsense. Again, based on an online survey from 2007.
The FBI collects real data. Rape is on the decline.

The bottom line is this girl has changed her story more times than most posters here change their underwear. I don’t always agree with Eric but I read everything and he is dead on. One of the Eric’s that post here is a former attorney with defense and prosecution experience so I would hardly classify him as ignorant or stupid.. Rape and other violent crimes are on a decline, and That’s great. There were still over 70,000 just last year that were reported. Meaning the real number of incidents is at least double. But I guess we shouldn’t do anything b/c slightly less women are being raped than the FBI anticipated. How great.

Four thousand and two hundred people is a big number when you are being labeled as a rapist, falsely. Because, as this place shows you, people don’t care about drug screens, and multiple stories, and the like, they simply remember the headlines, and forever you are labeled.

As I reminded you earlier, when I said “some form of sexual assault”, that is different and encompasses more than just rape.
The report lists those numbers out 1,000, not 100,000 as you claimed.
The report surveyed people by phone and in person, not online as you claimed.
So if now it is 6 girls out of every 1000, that means nothing should be done? I graduated from UCF, which has approx 50,000 undergrads. So each year only about 300 will be raped at 1 single school. Guess it’s all good then!
If youre a total FSU homer and just want Winston, that’s fine. My issue isn’t with him, or his accuser, it’s with the ignorant right-wing conspiracy theories and the fake “facts” you keep posting.

It’s like innocent people on death row. It shouldn’t matter if there’s one percent innocent or 12% innocent. What matters is that there’s innocent people out there.
Every case is individual, and it’s easiest to make an informed decision when you read the evidence, not, media reports.

The Hunting Ground documentary will torpedo Jameis Winston’s draft prospect. This documentary will be on CNN and other channels this summer before the draft. We will be left with only one choice come this summer. That will be Marcus Mariota. There will be too much negative publicity about Jamieis Winston. No team owner or coach would like to deal with this negative publicity. The team is in the business of selling tickets. It will be a circus of we draft Jameis Winston. Just my 2 cents.

After going over the police report I am more inclined to side with Erica. Seems the police jacked this way up. After she told them in January that it was Winston and then in February the detective told Winston’s attorney that it was a closed case. Didn’t interview Winston until the end of 2013…almost 11 months after they knew it was Winston. Come on, sketchy as all hell. Yes, I saw the report where the officer wrote he hasn’t had contact with Erica since April and it was August. I’m just not buying that though. Seems they were waiting on the detective to do something and didn’t even know that they had closed the case when it wasn’t really closed. Somebody in the department messed up big time.

Despite Joe’s man crushes on first Johnny Football and now Jameis Winston and his constant blubbering about franchise quarterbacks, I agree with Gruden.
First there are at most what, five proven franchise quarterbacks in the league? Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Joe Flacco, Payton Manning and Aaron Rodgers come to mind. As for developing franchise quarterbacks, I see Andrew Luck and Russell Wilson. There are also a number of could be’s and some they were’s and could be agains.
Still over the half the league gets by with serviceable quarterbacks running their offenses. Hell, the Bucs won a Super Bowl with a serviceable Brad Johnson managing the games for us.
If Chip Kelly wants to deal Nick Foles along with a bunch of high draft picks for the #1 pick I say go for it. Three years ago Foles had 27 TDs and 2 INTs then has spent the last two years injured.
Neither Marcus Mariota nor Jameis Winston are proven NFL quarterbacks, regardless of what Joe says. Look at Johnny Football. He’s close to being on the street with no team and no job to call his own – so much for Joe’s man crushes.
If Kelly offers up a sweet deal that includes Foles and enough players or picks to fix a number of Tampa’s problems, you gotta take it. The risk of an injury to the quarterback exists whether it’s Foles, Mariota or Winston we’re talking about. Foles, however, brings an NFL track record. And if the draft picks result in an o-line that can actually protect the QB, injuries may not be an issue.

Just a point. Anyone in our country can refuse to be interviewed by the police and that includes suspects. It’s call Miranda and the Fifth Amendment.
As for drafting Winston vis-à-vis his conduct off the field, I agree he’s too big a risk. Too much baggage to use something as valuable as the #1 pick.

The reason Philly wants to get rid of him so bad is because he doesn’t fit the “mold” for Chip Kelly’s system. He is the perfect prototypical drop back Quarterback. He has great size, arm strength, and has a proven track record. We would be crazy to pass on him. Granted there would have to be a ton of draft picks included with him for this deal to happen.
Philly also wants to get rid of Shady’s contract. Ask for Foles, Shady, and their 1st and 2nd this year. I would be hard pressed to turn down that deal. Dropping back to 20 would be hard but a real QB and stud RB would be an amazing coo for us. We could also get our OT at #20. Just saying, QB, RB, OT, and a second 2nd round pick would be a great start to instantly revamping our team.
Foles, Shady, Evans, VJax, ASJ, and hopefully a new rookie OT and OG would be hell on opposing defenses.
