Bucs Sought D-Line Help In Supplemental Draft
July 17th, 2009The Washington Redskins drafted 21-year-old defensive end Jeremy Jarmon in the NFL Supplemental Draft on Thursday.
While hardly earth-shaking news, it is Bucs news.
The Bucs had entered a claim for him in the fourth round of the supplemental draft, wrote former NFL.com reporter Adam Schefter via his Twitter account.
My understanding — unconfirmed — is the other teams to put in 4th-round claims for Jeremy Jarmon were Eagles, Bucs, Saints, Lions, Pats.
That means the Bucs would have given up a fourth round pick in the regular 2010 NFL Draft, if they had scored Jarmon yesterday.
Jarmon may very well have been a worthy snag for a fourth-round pick. However, Joe is troubled the Bucs feel they need more competition among their current large crop of young D-linemen. Heck, they just drafted DE Kyle Moore out of USC in the fourth round in April.
Joe suspects somebody on the D-line is on Raheem The Dream’s poopy list. Here’s to hoping it’s not Stylez G. White.
