Joe’s ecstatic about today’s loss. It was necessary but bittersweet.
In their last 100 games, the Bucs are 30-70.
This is why Joe often calls the Stadium on Dale Mabry Highway the “Den of Depression.” The shoe fits.
Walking toward the stadium today, Joe noticed so little buzz and much fewer tailgates. Joe can’t blame fans for their apathy.
Joe got a text from a friend and loyal Bucs fan in the first quarter. Here’s what it read: “I’m already bored.”
Lovie Smith brought such optimism and it all came crashing down, first in Atlanta, and then again with the Bucs losing six straight to close the season.
But barring a colossal screwup by the Bucs front office, the Den of Depression will turn into the Den of Inspiration next season, with a true franchise quarterback prospect in the building.
Joe will pop the good champagne this New Year’s and toast the thought.

Lovie’s still gonna be here, mitigating most of the hope of a new QB. Fire Lovie and get an offensive coach in here? Now there’s a lot of hope.

So how is Lovie gonna explain blackouts in 2015 to the Galzers?
He shouldn’t forget that the Glazer boys fired Gruden and their hand picked Schiano recommended by Belicheat.
Lovie is far from safe, especially after his awful excuses in press coupled with the worst record in Buc football in a looooooonnngggg time.

With Lovie’s 11yr history of horrible offenses and the new “don’t touch an offensive skill player too hard” I am not optimistic. He had good defenses in the old NFL and won on defense alone. This is a new NFL and defenses are going to continue to be handcuffed under the guise of “player safety”. Lovie has shown his “unwavering” style of coaching and unfortunately it is a style of coaching suited for the NFL 2yrs ago. This NFL is dynamic and high scoring. I don’t think there is a person on earth who would use those words to describe Lovie Smith.

No matter who is picked at #1 or if it is traded, IF Lovie the BOOB is still here it will still be the Den of Depression.

Let’s hope the Glazers call a 10AM presser to make the “thanks for the 2-14 record. We appreciate all of Lovie’s wonderful contributions to this franchise.

I have a sick feeling that the Glazers will endorse Lovie and give him blessings for 2015. He will keep all his coaches even Arroyo as OC. Then he will keep McCown as the starting QB. The #1 will be a defensive player. We are assuming Lovie will do the right and logical choices and actions. His time leading here has spoken volumes for itself. Never underestimate how incompetent our leader operates. Get ready for some heartbreak Bucs fans. In Lovie we trust.

Let’s all hope this is the last time we celebrate a Buc’s loss… I’m for drafting whichever QB wins the national championship… I believe that Winston is the better QB…

This is a organizational failure at all levels. Bad drafting thanks to Dominik and Bruce Allen, and bad coaching hires after Gruden got fired. This won’t be a quick fix no matter how much money Lovie throws at free agents.
Bucs need to draft well and hire forward thinking coaches who fit today’s NFL

Just watch as Lovie trade’s the 1st pick, then not get a QB and miss on most of the choices made with the additional draft picks made in the trade.

Man if they trade the #1 overall it better be for something bigger than what the Rams got for dropping from #2 to #6 for RG3 and perhaps even more than what Ditka and the saints gave up to get Ricky Williams:
The Saints traded away 8 picks, including two 1st rounders, to the Washington Redskins so they could move up from their own #12 spot in the draft to the #5 spot.
Here is what the Redskins received.

1999 7th
2000 1st (2nd Overall)

And that was just to move up from 12 to 5. The Bucs would have to get that or more to drop down to where someone like the Skins or the Jets are picking; around 5th or 6th overall where they could possibly still get Winston if he slides (unlikely unless he stinks up the combine or more red flags emerge) or more likely one of the top OTs on the board like Iowa’s Scherff or Stanford’s Andrus Peat… But without a franchise qb coming in the Glazers are going to have a tough time selling tickets next season so maybe the economic side of things force them to force Lovie or whoever is the GM come draft time if Licht gets sacked to simply draft Mariota or whoever is the top qb on their draft board….

One very important need is to get the right OC on staff that can COACH and DEVELOP a drafted QB that can play here for 10+ years. Bucs have never had a home grown QB that could carry the team; the closest was Doug Williams, a completely different game of football was played back then. Bucs did not 1. recognize the talent of Steve Young 2. ruined guys – Vinnie Testaverde and several others. Given all of 2014, I doubt Mr. Smith’s abilities to recognize current NFL talent on both sides of the ball. We can;t do diddly about it but LIcht needs to have power at 1 Buc Place over personnel.

Jim, maybe a clean change at talent evaluation is needed. Perhaps the Glazers need to hire a GM that has no ties to Lovie and reports to them and not Lovie as Licht does. Reassign Licht and bring in someone who can evaluate the talent independent of the coaches’ influence. Its pretty obvious that very few of L&L’s personnel decisions over the past year have worked out to well….
