Holiday Cheese Convention Awaits
December 11th, 2014Joe’s been stunned by the furious demand for the Packers-Bucs tickets, Tampa Bay’s second-to-last home game on Sunday, Dec. 21.
Of course, the game sold out months ago with the help of sun-starved Wisconsin types and local transplants that bleed cheddar.
But not only did the game sell out, the secondary ticket market is going wild. You can’t find a seat on StubHub or TicketMonster.com now for less than $100.00, even the nosebleeds.
Joe’s been monitoring the situation for weeks, and tickets are moving at top dollar. There might be 40,000 Packers fans in the house for that game. Ugh!
Joe is somewhat dreading attending the game and flashing back 20 years, when the lunatic “Packer Backers” filled the defunct Turtle Club in Clearwater with oversized, bratwurst-scented women and their Favre-worshipping mates, before and after heading to the Stadium on Dale Mabry highway to join tens of thousands of their friends.

Perhaps they’ll start a green wave throughout the stadium. That would be a hoot.
December 11th, 2014 at 2:41 pm
Of course there’s gonna be a lot of fans. People want to see what an actual NFL team looks like.
December 11th, 2014 at 2:42 pm
Could be Buc fans that just want to go see really good football being played. Probably a lot of Pack fans but maybe a few that are still cheering for the good guys.
December 11th, 2014 at 2:46 pm
I got something better than the wave.
How about they chant GREEEEN on one side and BAAAAAAY on the other side?
Now THAT would be hilarious stuff.

Packer fans can probably fly to Tampa and get tickets for cheaper than it is at Lambeau just for tickets (unless you are a ST holder). Factor in their awful weather and Tampa’s awesome weather and it’s no shocker they’ll be representing strong.
Maybe the Glazers will request more northern teams play here in December to ensure packed crowds.

why i picked the new orleans game for my trek to tampa…thought it would be a division title game…LOL, silly me!
December 11th, 2014 at 3:12 pm
Creepy. I was a Packer fan in the late sixties, Bart Starr and all those stars. Of course, the Bucs were not around then. The Packer’s were at the top winning those first Super Bowls. Everybody loves a winner. Alas, along came our own team, the Bucs. Those pasty white cheesehead snowbirds flock to watch their team in Tampa. I hate the Packers, their success and their fans.
December 11th, 2014 at 3:14 pm
I’ve been trying to get tickets for weeks, and I can’t believe how high people are selling them for. It’s going to be 75% Packer fans, and that’s not even an exaggeration.
December 11th, 2014 at 3:30 pm
Unless I missed something the Packers do have fans that own the team. We need that here in Tampa Bay, community ownership of our team. The Bucs would be much better and not suffer all the lengthy losing seasons. That’s a no brainer. Power to the people!
December 11th, 2014 at 3:41 pm
Sold my tickets. Got double-face value for them.
F-the Bucs. Call me when they’re handing Winston the hat.
December 11th, 2014 at 4:05 pm
“community ownership of our team.”
That is the only thing that ever makes sense. It’ll never happen again becausee of the plutocrats. They’d never allow it.
Imagine if the City of St. Petersburg had simpy forked over 200 million dollars for the Rays back in 2004. How far ahead would St. Pete residents be financially.
Begin with no year long blackmail attempt where Sternberg tried to pull a Glazer and extract a HALF BILLION dollars and the best real estate on Tampa Bay. Then consider that the franchise is now valued at over450 million!!!!
I doubt St Pete folks would be hacked at more than doubling their money in just ten years.
And since I brought up the Rays and stadia….Of ALL the major new stadiums or major upgrades only ONE came in on budget and that was…you guessed it the publicly owned Green Bay Packers redo of Lambeau!
Get ready Tampans. They’re coming for YOUR money next. In NYC, Sternberg’s home…He watched the Yankees and Met’s get close to 1.5 BILLION from the taxpayers while contributing only 750 million of their own money.
December 11th, 2014 at 4:09 pm
BTW Since the wealthy owners will never let our community purchase the Bucs and interfere with their money machines here is something that is almost as bad
The professional leagues do not allow for cross ownership. If they did just try and imagine what a great owner Jeff Vinik would be for the Bucs. Just look at what he’s done for the Lightning and the city of Tampa. He is one of the rare “good” sports owners. There are others…like Kraft in Boston…but they are definitely in the minority.

Sold my 2nd row tickets (season tickets) behind visitor bench for 250 a pop. paid $99. Im gonna salvage something out of this season.
December 11th, 2014 at 5:08 pm
Yeah I sold my tickets too doubled that money
December 11th, 2014 at 5:16 pm
joe says:There might be 40,000 Packers fans in the house for that game.
I think that number is low. I saw a boatload of Wisconsin license plates as I have been driving around the tampa bay area the past couple of days.
one license plate from Ontario,Canada said PACKERFAN1.
I guess even the Canadians like the packers!

It was’nt that long ago that TB vs GB was called the toilet bowl. Look who got flushed.
December 11th, 2014 at 7:29 pm
Ill take Packer fans over red sux fans anyday.
December 11th, 2014 at 8:19 pm
It used to be called the Bay of Pigs game. Now we will be the pigs being led to slaughter. The best part of this game will be the addition of $$$ to the local economy.
December 12th, 2014 at 12:28 am
Yep. A Packer home game just like the old days. It will basically be a party for them. No question this game will be a humiliation on every level. And the Glazers deserve every embarrassing second of this. Eat it up, Glazers. The ocean of green in your own stadium. The blowout score. Lovie being out coached from the handshake. Wallow in the muck of your ineptitude.
December 12th, 2014 at 12:34 am
I guess they’ll worry about it all the way to the bank, though.
December 12th, 2014 at 3:07 am
Gotta admit that I’m a cheesehead. I live in Wisconsin and will be flying down to watch my Buccaneers play the packers (and spend the holidays with my family).
Will be my first Ray jay experience. I’ve seems the bucs play the Vikings in Minnesota and the packers at Lambeau though.
I’m just hoping for a fun game. I bought the tickets before the season, and hoped it would have playoff implications. Lol but I’ll be there to just support my team, and have fun. Isn’t that what it’s all about?
December 12th, 2014 at 9:20 am
I know of at least 40 Packer fans and family driving over from WPB/Broward for the game…the Bucs & Glazers are going to be embarrassed by the number of Packer fans at this game, Ray Jay is going to look like Lambeau South…
