It’s (Officially) Derek Anderson
December 10th, 2014Joe is going to guess many Bucs fans will think they are having a shroom flashback Sunday when the hapless Bucs travel to Carolina to face the Stinking Panthers. That’s because it is déjà vu all over again, baby.
In Week One, Stinking Panthers quarterback Cam Newton was hurt and his backup, Carolina’s version of Josh McCown, journeyman Derek Anderson, started for the Stinking Panthers.
Bucs fans reacted in glee, thinking with Lovie Smith’s defense, it would be a mismatch. And it was. Anderson shredded Lovie’s defense hitting tight end Greg Olson to burn the Bucs and keep them winless at home.
Well, with Newton’s accident yesterday, what was believed to be true is now confirmed. Newton is out for the game against the Bucs, documents NFL.com’s Jeff Darlington, the pride of Seminole High School.
Panthers coach Ron Rivera says Derek Anderson, who started Week 1 in a win against the Bucs, will start Sunday again against the Bucs.

Now to be fair, Joe knows Bucs fans are already dreading Anderson for what he did against the Bucs. Hold up. The Bucs defense was a far cry from what it is now. Even after getting bullied by the Lions last week, the defense is much, much better than it was in the first month of the season.
So Joe doesn’t think it is an apples-to-apples comparison when invoking Anderson and the Bucs defense.

Say goodbye to #1 overall pick. Losing sucks. Losing at losing by a hair really sucks.
December 10th, 2014 at 3:36 pm
3-11
December 10th, 2014 at 3:41 pm
Derek Anderson… shiver me timbers. The Bucs know what to expect this time around. Prove it in the game team. The bulldog is in again for the Bucs. Rots of ruck.
December 10th, 2014 at 3:43 pm
Derek Anderson im sure he’s all smiles this week
December 10th, 2014 at 4:10 pm
Right when it finally feels like the whole fanbase is collectively ready to lose out for the #1 pick, we get thrown into a winnable game like this. Man, it sucks to be a Bucs fan.
December 10th, 2014 at 4:24 pm
This would seem to be a winnable game. Just like many winnable games before, the Bucs find a way to lose. The defense is better this time around, but the offense is bad enough to keep the win total at 2.
December 10th, 2014 at 4:26 pm
What’s our record against backup quarterbacks again?
December 10th, 2014 at 4:37 pm
I am sure the bucs will lose. Would you bet on them winning?
not a dime
December 10th, 2014 at 4:43 pm
Kick the stinking Panther’s a$$,,,, knock them out of the playoffs…..make their fans sob in misery!!!
December 10th, 2014 at 5:12 pm
They are probably lying to only announce on game day Cam is starting, just like they did week 1 for the advantage.
December 10th, 2014 at 5:19 pm
This will be a good test to see how much the Bucs may have improved, on defense and on offense. I don’t see this turning the corner of the defense that you do Joe, but I hope to be wrong. We’ll see.
December 10th, 2014 at 5:34 pm
I was hoping to face cam newton too… Well i guess itll be a closer score atleast. Bucs lose 28 to 13
December 10th, 2014 at 7:11 pm
Anderson vs. McCown = Bucs Lose!
Panthers win 21-10.
Simple as that…
#APATHY
Go Sucs!
December 10th, 2014 at 7:14 pm
The human turnover machine is still the starter. So there is almost a for sure loss.
December 10th, 2014 at 7:27 pm
I hope Lovie doesn’t screw up our chance for the #1 pick. That is huge. We win, we go from #1 to probably #5. I will be so pissed
December 10th, 2014 at 8:27 pm
This game means much more about winning for Carolina, they win out and who knows, they are in the race. I think the Bucs will try to win the game.
December 10th, 2014 at 8:46 pm
Well we have lost to back up this year. Have we forgot about the first two games.
Lost lost to back ups…..
December 10th, 2014 at 8:53 pm
Well this will actually be a good measuring stick as to how far the Bucs D has progressed. Of course Jonathon Stewart chewed up the Aints for 150+ yards, so its a good guess we will see more of him on Sunday. But the offense is the albatross for the Bucs, how many short fields will it give Anderson, how many 3 and outs, intercerptions or fumbles? What screwups will Arroyo make this week, what bad timeout, bad halftime adjustment/non-adjustment, delay of game or 12 man penalty will screw them this week? Will special teams have another kick blocked? Going to need the O and ST to show up for a change. But if that happens then maybe Hawaiian Buc made a good prediction; perhaps win #3 is there for the taking, heck the Panthers looked pretty bad right up until last Sunday themselves and who knows what is happening in New Orleans…. This appears to be a winnable game….

Knocking the Panthers out of the playoff picture would be the Bucs SuperBowl as would the final game @ RJS vs the Saints. I am sure that is what the coaches are preaching at 1 Buc this week. Plus its a rivalry and the Bucs would like to stop long L strewaks to both NO and Carolina. I am sure some of these players (not all, definitely not either Bengal free agent signing, they are already counting coin) realize that a W or 2 and some good film might salvage their careers as a lot of these guys would be out of the NFL if they were not Yuks right now…..

Missing the game to celebrate my grandmothers 96th birthday. First game I’ll miss in over ten years, and then it was because I lived in virginia.

Don’t tell me Superman got injure m a mere car accident. Do you think this might humble Newton, give hi a little humility about him being just a mere speck of,unimportant matter in the universe.
I doubt it,meh will remain as arrogant and full of hubris as ever. Another QB who thinks he’s won it all just because he has won a couple of game in the NFL. However, no playoff wins.
This idiot probably thinks he’s the reason he’s alive when it’s actually about $10,000 worth of safety feature built into the truck mandated by the pesky federal government.
