If nothing else, this Buccaneers.com story about the competition for the Bucs No. 3 wide receiver spot gives Joe a chance to mention the cool redesign at the team’s official Web site.

Per the site, more changes are coming, and so far they all look great.

And Joe will remind One Buc Place he’s available to be the team’s official columnist. Hey, the Cowboys have three. The Bucs deserve at least one.

As for the Bucs competition at the No. 3 receiver slot, where Raheem The Dream seems destined to add a veteran like Plexiglass Burress, the company line is Brian Clark is the leader heading into training camp.

Who will it be? That will be determined in training camp, but in a surprisingly forward answer to just this question at the Buccaneers’ FanFest in June, Wide Receivers Coach Richard Mann did identify a front-runner. That would be Tampa native and former Chamberlain High star Brian Clark, the third-year receiver who began his career in Denver.

Clark has appeared in 20 career regular-season games, 10 of them with the Buccaneers. He has spent time on Tampa Bay’s practice squad in each of the last two years but finished each of those campaigns on the active roster. Clark, also a fine kick returner and special teams player, had four catches for 23 yards in 2007 and one for 12 yards last fall.

Joe has no favorites for the No. 3 spot right now.

The hope here is Michael Clayton can catch the ball (there’s a concept) and Kellen Winslow can stay healthy and play quite a bit of receiver. That combination will make the winner of the No. 3 sweepstakes far less important.
