Lions 34, Buccaneers 17
December 7th, 2014When Lovie Smith was hired, the clearest goal he stated was to make the Buccaneers “relevant” in 2014. How about “competitive,” Coach?
Yes, Tampa Bay is irrelevant. They have been for weeks. Even the improved defense took a step backwards today in Detroit.
Are the Bucs even a physical, hungry-looking, angry-playing team? Joe doesn’t think so. Good things are happening, but not nearly enough.
The blame game is a broken record. Lovie is failing on several fronts. The sloppiness on offense never ends.
Matthew Stafford was 26-for-34 for 311 yards and three touchdowns. The Bucs didn’t force a turnover out of the Lions offense. Detroit had only scored more than 30 twice this season, against the Giants and Bears, two lousy defenses. They don’t have a super offense.
Detroit was 7-for-14 on third down before their kneel-down series. The Bucs missed too many tackles and made life way to easy.
Major kudos to Mike Evans for his two touchdowns, and to Vincent Jackson for a heck of a day, sans one drop.
It’s off to Carolina, which just blew out the Saints in New Orleans.
December 7th, 2014 at 5:13 pm
Worst Bucs team in the last 20 years I would think. 3-13 is the absolute best anyone can see with this team. Long, long way away from being a top tier team, it’d be nice to be relevant in 3 years. Sucks being a fan right now.
December 7th, 2014 at 5:13 pm
Playing bad offenses and bad teams does not mean the defense took steps forward!!!
December 7th, 2014 at 5:14 pm
Ok Joe but Dominik gets credit for drafting Mccoy.
December 7th, 2014 at 5:14 pm
aints got spanked…..lol 41-10 with 2 mins left!!! Thats my happy of the day 🙂
December 7th, 2014 at 5:15 pm
The defense only looks decent against terrible teams. Evans is the only positive this team has.
December 7th, 2014 at 5:15 pm
One blowout closer to Lovie’s pink slip…go Bucs!
December 7th, 2014 at 5:15 pm
Aroyo predictable… As usual. Oneil Cousins and Patrick Ommemeh are two of the worst O linemen ever to play. No pressure. Goldson should be cut immediately. I hate everything about this team.
December 7th, 2014 at 5:16 pm
I agree, Gruden, Schiano, not even Rah put a team this horrible on the field.
Rah’s team QUIT on him and still won twice as many games as Liar Smith’s Succaneers.
December 7th, 2014 at 5:16 pm
QB
O line
O line
Pass rush and DB for the rest
December 7th, 2014 at 5:16 pm
It’s funny how people call the offensive line garbage, the cornerbacks and safeties, say we need better players but say they could do a better job coaching with these same garbage players…. You sound stupid if your still upset about the bucs losing to a playoff team with better players across the board playing with the number 1 defense. Look at the record the players are below average, you don’t want to believe it because they play for the team you love, took a step back? No they’re actually been in the overachieving category the last few weeks because the “stars” on the team are invisible
December 7th, 2014 at 5:16 pm
Well that was depressing. Only 3 games left. I got a feeling the last couple home games will feel like away games because I can’t imagine anyone wasting time or money to watch this product. Shameful stuff
December 7th, 2014 at 5:16 pm
We still got a chance!
December 7th, 2014 at 5:16 pm
You can see every time they drop back that the play calling is bad and when the play could work our qb isn’t equipped to make the play. Two huge issues that can be improved upon this offseason. Just awful offensive football right now though. So, so bad
December 7th, 2014 at 5:17 pm
Ugh
December 7th, 2014 at 5:17 pm
I don’t know what’s worse : our OC, our QB, or our offensive line.
December 7th, 2014 at 5:17 pm
@Realitycheck, add our rookie fg kicker Murray and LD to that list.
December 7th, 2014 at 5:17 pm
Go Jags, Raiders, & Jets
December 7th, 2014 at 5:18 pm
Timeout to start the second half is all you need to know about this garbage operation. ABSOLUTE JOKE.
December 7th, 2014 at 5:18 pm
Who cares, look I want to win but the season is over. So let’s lose. Let evans get O rookie of the year and continue to develope players. But don’t win now.
December 7th, 2014 at 5:18 pm
Mccown gave Detroit two touchdowns
December 7th, 2014 at 5:19 pm
…and so are the days of our Bucs lives.
December 7th, 2014 at 5:19 pm
The Buccaneer Offense 12 Point Rule. At least they got to 12 this week.
December 7th, 2014 at 5:19 pm
After watching this horrendous team today, I wished we had gotten Caldwell instead of lovie as a coach. Lovie is responsible for the crap we are seeing on the field and if Moriaty or Winston is not drafted and they stick with Mcown as a season. Ticket holder I am done…
December 7th, 2014 at 5:20 pm
@buc4lyfe
Lovie is that you? If so, you hand picked this squad of “garbage players”.
And you suck!!
December 7th, 2014 at 5:20 pm
First top 15 QB they’ve played in a while and it showed. Stafford had his way with the secondary. Pass rush was decent by secondary breakdowns and poor coverage were everywhere.
December 7th, 2014 at 5:21 pm
if No one watches the game does it really happen?
December 7th, 2014 at 5:21 pm
Maybe from now on people will pay closer attention to what is happening during the preseason games instead of writing it off as meaningless. What we saw in the preseason was exactly what we saw all during the regular season.
December 7th, 2014 at 5:22 pm
Don’t forget about Mike Jenkins Joe!
December 7th, 2014 at 5:23 pm
The Bucs need a bunch of Mike Evans, one at every position.
December 7th, 2014 at 5:23 pm
Evans seems to be the only one that gives a spit
Trade for Johnny manziel
December 7th, 2014 at 5:23 pm
In fantastic news, we get to see Mariota spank the Seminoles this Saturday, thus putting an end to the debate as to who the Bucs should be drafting.
December 7th, 2014 at 5:24 pm
I refuse to listen to the post game or any interviews for that matter, but can someone tell me what the reasoning is for starting McCown. Just trying to figure out exactly what value or reason behind it. Not saying Glennon is the answer, but with the D playing better Glennonn is better at protecting the ball. If the Lions caught every chance they had at an interception it may have been at least 5 or 6. Plus if Glennon ends up backing up next year why not give him some more experience or trade value if you don’t want him at all.
December 7th, 2014 at 5:25 pm
@BucsfaninChina
Amen to that!
December 7th, 2014 at 5:26 pm
It all starts and ends with your head coach. You can’t polish a turd. Sorry Lovie Lovers.
December 7th, 2014 at 5:26 pm
Maybe now we can stop listening to Joe laid praises on Jonathan Banks for playing a good game against Calvin Johnson a decade ago. Banks’s name should be “oven mitts” because anyone he covers gets hot.
December 7th, 2014 at 5:30 pm
The MIKE EVANS SHOW is great. The rest should be cancelled immediately.
December 7th, 2014 at 5:31 pm
@indy i agree but i would at least like to see some competitive play. at least a last second loss lol
December 7th, 2014 at 5:35 pm
I watched MJ90 as many plays as possible and he played TERRIBLY!! I can’t believe this guy is on the field
December 7th, 2014 at 5:36 pm
@ bucfan37 lol yea the glazers should invest in human cloning
December 7th, 2014 at 5:37 pm
Come on Lovie…one more time give us that condescending “We were a 4-12 football team”
Oh for the Schiano days.
December 7th, 2014 at 5:38 pm
I think the defense played well considering how long they were on the field.
I was expecting the Lions to score well into the 40’s.
The fact that Lovie refuses to call out his garbage quarterback, terrible offensive line,or clueless offensive coordinator is truly amazing!
December 7th, 2014 at 5:40 pm
In the picture above Lovie is saying – Oh Sh!t we really do suck…
December 7th, 2014 at 5:42 pm
The o line is on lovie, Leonard Johnson still on the roster, Michael Johnson mccown and Glennon are on lovie. Chris Sims, mike Evans, ASJ, McDonald, j. Smith are on lovie also. Comparing Caldwell team to lovie team is stupid, they’ve had a championship team for years, mad because the teams garbage yea but mad because it didn’t turn around in one off season? This team has a lose mentality and lavonte David, GMC haven’t changed that… Only bucs fans think one or two more players make us a playoff team, David and mccoy have never been to the playoffs. How does a defensive coach teach offense? Defense has minimized false starts and big plays. If you’re mad we can’t score and think that’s on lovie instead of a quarterbacks coach playing coordinator then hurry up ams die of a heart attack already. Lovie has nothing to do with schiano, has nothing to do with raheem. The common denominator? Players and owners
December 7th, 2014 at 5:49 pm
Terrible free agents/talent evaluation + marginal Xs&Os+ bad game day decisions= Lovie. I really hate the idea of blowing this up again…but for the OL alone Lovie should get wacked. Tedfords’s health wouldn’t have made a difference with the likes of EDS, Cousins, Omameh and Collins blocking. That unit today and all season long has been abysmal. Think about our history folks…can you name four worse starters up front? Sorry Lovie, but you can’t and won’t develop a rookie Qb under these circumstances. You have to go.
December 7th, 2014 at 6:08 pm
No evidence from any post loss conferences that Lovie actually intends to make sincere changes this off season. This includes QB. I bet he got the same authority Dungy had, which means no valid OC will come to Tampa, since Lovie won’t actually give them control over offense.
More of the same in ’15
December 7th, 2014 at 6:42 pm
I’m confident Lovie was under-prepared to leave retirement and coach an NFL team again.
I’m thinking less time should have been spent in his basement watching football, and maybe more at the neighborhood church or summer football camps learning to mentor and motivate local youth
December 7th, 2014 at 10:25 pm
there is nothing i believe in less than lovie smith…that guys a dinasaur from a conservative mentality that has zero relevance in todays game….
December 7th, 2014 at 10:56 pm
Evans is the only reason to watch the games.
December 7th, 2014 at 11:53 pm
Bucs needs:
Ownership with backbone
Head coach with backbone
QB with backbone AND accuracy
