Jameis Winston: Celebrating Youth

Crab-legs-stealing, BB-gun-shooting, obscenity-hollering, Heisman-Trophy-winning, national champion James Winston, the pride of Florida State University, continues to look like a much better quarterback prospect than Mike Glennon and Josh McCown.
It’s Joe’s daily nugget on the Jameis Watch, celebrating the best quarterback to wear No. 5 ever in the state of Florida.
Joe’s keeping it light tonight, in advance of Jameis Winston trying to keep the Florida State winning streak alive in the ACC title game against Georgia Tech quarterback Justin Thomas. (Kickoff is tomorrow night at 8 p.m. on ABC.)
Winston and Thomas go back to their Pop Warner days, when they were opponents leading their teams.

jameis is a very talented kid. most experts feel jameis is ready for the nfl from day one. the experts question his character. he made one mistake stealing at a supermarket. the rape accusation based on his court transcript it appears he will be cleared. the woman is suing him for 7 million dollars. I don’t think she will get a penny based on his court transcript. this could be to the bucs draft advantage if the experts question his character.

You’re wasting your time on Winston, Joe. He’s not even the best QB to ever play at FSU. Charlie Ward wins that hands down. This guy is a walking turnover machine. The NFL will eat him alive.

By the way Joe, ask Deckerhoff if he stands by his opinion about Winston after watching him repeatedly toss picks this year. Because Gene may have backed off the ringing endorsement he gave a couple of months earlier.

Wow I can only assume you’re not watching the Oregon game. Mariotta SUCKS! Dude has a ton of time back there and keeps throwing bad passes. He is going to be a big time bust if a team is dumb enough to take him in the 1st round. He is awful!

My old trainer (now friend) use to play in the nfl. He told me Josh freeman would flame out because of his in ability to focus on the game and be a leader. I asked his opinion on JW. It was his opinion that JW might have real psych issues or is extremely immature. He believes that if JW is a day one starter he will burn out of the league in 2-3 years.

Joe likes the Felon. No idea why. For all his faults, Lovie is smart in one area; he tends to not like guys with criminal records, like most of the rest of society. I’m at a loss at the utter stupidity of these articles. What’s the point, Joe? To prove you’re a Homer for FSU? Great. Point made. The kid’s a train wreck and won’t be playing in Tampa next year unless one of the state penitentiarys in area has a team. GET OVER IT, JOE.

Mariotta is fortunate to have an awesome OL n plethora of rb n wr to support him n increase his stock. His line is pancaking guys on run n pass plays. Can’t compare him to Winston who is the nuts n bolts of his offense. Most QBs behind Oregon’s line will always have good stats n considered elite. Former QB n Heisman winners Geno Toretta n Vinny Tesdeverde both performed great in college due to again… an awesome OL, rb n wr who makes the QB look good. Winston on the other hand, knows how to overcome adversity…he’s a one man wrecking crew.

Not true at all. Name the first round draft picks that Mariota has played with that were OL, RB, or WR. I’ll start the list off for you. OG Kyle Long whom he played with for all of 6 games. You can end the list there. Other than that the only notable drafted players he played with were WR Josh Huff (3rd round) and DeAnthony Thomas (4th round). I’m pretty sure Winston has him beat in that category.
Now if you want to make the argument that Mariota plays in a more QB friendly system, fire way. But there is no way Mariota plays with anywhere close to the same talent as Winston.

Hey Joe, will you be still claiming he is only celebrating his youth, if we draft #5 (bad omen?) and his personal life choices are the same as he is making now in college! Or possibly worse choices as he will have a pocket, several pockets full of cash to play with. I will be supporting him “if” we draft him he will be a buccaneer. I just hope he has some major personel growth between now and then. It would be difficult for me to be a fan of his if he does not.

I am not sure what game you guys watched! “Mariotta is putting on a clinic.” ??? He can hit a receiver unless it’s a 4 yard screen. I have heard a lot of talk from experts questioning his accuracy. There is no question! He is extremely inaccurate.

He hits those 4 yard screen passes. I saw him hit just one pass over 8 yards. Flat out missed wide open receivers numerous times. If he can’t hit 15 yard passes with no pressure how do you think he would do with the Bucs o-line.

Really? I guess we were watching different games then. You don’t get to 300+ yds by throwing 10 yd throw all the time. He hit several passes over 8 yds. Winston is not better than that. If you want a guy that just completes 50% of passes then sure go for Winston, but if you want more accuracy then you go for Mariota. Also, Mariota averages at 10yds per attempt. Winston is at 8yds. Another good thing is that Mariota doesn’t throw 3-4 interceptions a game like Winston.

BucsAssassin76… so everybody with a criminal record should be marked with disdain and ridicule even after serving time for that crime. That’s what the time served returned to the system, thus the accused and convicted is free to return to a normal life achieving what other free people live for. To commit a crime does’nt mean one is a criminal for life. The U.S. is one giant prison though.

I never said anything about criminal records. I’m all about second and third chances for people who show they’ve changed. What has Winston done to show he’s changed? The best thing he could do is stay in school and get his degree. It would make a major statement about his maturity and show that he’s changing for the better. With that said, I’ll bet he drops out. Too bad because that will validate nfl scouts who run from him based on character.

You can’t call someone a felon if they haven’t been convicted of a felony. I know that’s probably hard to grasp, but that’s the way those two words work. So yea, when you called him a felon you were saying that he had been convicted of a felony, thereby accusing him of having a criminal record that doesn’t exist.
Taking $20 of crab legs isn’t a felony. Neither is being an idiot on a message board and talking about stuff you know absolutely nothing about — lucky for you.

(3)(a) Theft of any property not specified in subsection (2) is petit theft of the second degree and a misdemeanor of the second degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082 or s. 775.083, and as provided in subsection (5), as applicable.
Exactly what does GAME OVER mean?
