Lovie Confidence Rating Dips Slightly
December 5th, 2014Lovie Smith will tell you he’s a glass-half-full kind of guy.
And it seems Bucs fans are that way, too, when it comes to their head coach.
Despite a painful nut kick of a home loss to the Bengals on Sunday, JoeBucsFan.com readers didn’t let that shake their confidence in Lovie much.
Among those who voted in Joe’s weekly confidence poll on Wednesday, 47.28 percent said they were “confident” (32.95), “very confident” (9.46) or “totally confident” (4.87) in Lovie.
That’s only a small dip from Lovie’s 50 percent rating last week.
Joe finds it very impressive that half of Bucs fans feel good about their 2-10 head coach during very trying times, including being winless at home.
Bucs fans are pretty darn loyal and trusting.

So much support for a 2-10 coach who, by his record and games that are hard to watch, is failing miserably…
Now that is a fan base that is getting comfortable with LOSING! {SAD!}

The most bizarre part is it’s faith in a coach whose overall track record is pure mediocrity. People have been blinded by that one Super Bowl because “He went with Rex Grossman as his QB” and conveniently ignore that in his last 7 seasons as a NFL coach he’s made the playoffs once. This isn’t an upper echelon coach here.

My confidence hasn’t dipped at all. I’m still 100% confident that our YUCS are going to lick balz for years to come unless he gets the D playing like the savages from the 2000’s. Because the offense is always going to be garbage. I feel sorry for Savage Mike. He will be wasted in Lovies offense.

ya gotta factor in brandons 72 votes after clearing caches and computer swapping

Not only is the fan base comfortable with losing they viciously defend it.
December 5th, 2014 at 1:10 pm
@Tye
Speaking for myself, I can’t say that i’ve become comfortable with losing, but I remain confident in lovie because of the way the defense has been performing since the bye week. Going from being roasted by the falcons and ravens, and not being able to get off the field on 3rd down, to being a very formidable unit, is very encouraging. Coincidentally, the bye week is when Lovie began to have a more hands on role in coaching up the D, effectively taking the D.C. job out of Leslie Fraizers hands. That is why I have confidence in lovie.

Lmao
December 5th, 2014 at 1:21 pm
Well I think we all know what happens 99% of the time after firing a coach after 1 year…
December 5th, 2014 at 1:31 pm
Bucs fans apparently love mediocrity
December 5th, 2014 at 1:32 pm
That’s funny Robert.
December 5th, 2014 at 1:35 pm
I think it is to do with the defense is coming around and people are remembering father Dungy’s first year. Run this poll after game 4 of the 2015 season.
December 5th, 2014 at 1:37 pm
I’m 50% sure 50% of Bucs are high.
December 5th, 2014 at 1:37 pm
RB’s are a dime a dozen and very unpredictable. It’s very rare when you find a can’t miss RB like Adrian Peterson. A guy like AP is a first round talent but after that you’ve got as good a shot drafting a guy in the 7th round as you do getting one in the 3rd. The value is also not there. It’s a passing league and the NFL life of a RB is short-lived. The value is not there to take RB’s high in drafts. QB, that’s a different story. Take a QB 1st round in 2015 draft, that is all.
December 5th, 2014 at 1:51 pm
does more than dip slightly for me….done with him already! All we have to look forward to for the next 3 years is picking high in the draft….screenshot this sh*t and mark my words….its a promise as long as L&L are running things (and the Glazers)
December 5th, 2014 at 1:53 pm
@theodore, I would be if randoms werent handed out at my job 😀
December 5th, 2014 at 2:11 pm
If you are not Ok with the Bucs losing, then get with the program.
December 5th, 2014 at 2:50 pm
No we’re just not bandwagoners like most on here. It takes more than a season.
December 5th, 2014 at 3:07 pm
googerville – it’s been 12 years since the bucs were relevant and one a playoff game….. How many more seasons do you want to give them???? Your patience is admirable.
December 5th, 2014 at 3:07 pm
won not one ….damn autocorrect
December 5th, 2014 at 3:16 pm
Terrible drafting over the last 10 years and 3 head coaching changes in the last 6 is why this team is 2-10. Why is that so hard to understand? Despite not having an Offensive Coordinatror – this year’s team has been in a position to potentially win every game but 2 and could just as easily be 5-7 or 6-6 as 2-10 right now. If we wind up with a top QB prospect as a result of all this year’s close losses – it will have been worth it.
December 5th, 2014 at 3:21 pm
I’m fine with giving Lovie the next ten years to turn this thing around… After a decade we may be able to double our win total from this year… Double the wins!!!
Now if you can’t get excited about that then you are not a true Buc fan…
December 5th, 2014 at 3:25 pm
We’re not ending up with a top QB prospect. Lovie doesn’t care, he wants a veteran to win games 17-14. Welcome to Lovieball.
December 5th, 2014 at 3:45 pm
The poll is flawed in that there are 3 options for varying degrees of positive confidence and only 2 options for negative confidence. Poll bias is what is saving LovieDovie.
December 5th, 2014 at 4:01 pm
I know lovie will fix this team and we will dominate the NFC South for years. We just need that QB Mariota/Winston please and Ty 🙂
December 5th, 2014 at 5:46 pm
Lovie is the second coming of Vince Lombardi. It’s as simple as that. If you can’t be an athletic supporter then support your coach.

Some people don’t get it. This has been a terrible team since 2009. Oftentimes, this team is NOT competitive with anybody. Even the season we went 10-6 it was littered with blowout losses and failures to compete with teams with winning records.
What we’re seeing right now, is a team that can compete with ANYBODY. The defense is on point, the special teams is coming around, and this despite having nothing resembling a decent offense that should be remedied by a full offseason with an actual NFL offensive coordinator and brand new QB. It’s not about wins and losses at this point, it’s about putting forth a competitive effort, and despite the fact that every Sunday only half the team plays good ball, this team is competing and will only get better in the future.

Agree, except the fact that 7 of the losses have come on the last drive of the fame, this team could EASILY be 9-3.

Could have, should have, would have. You can try but you can’t polish a turd. It was, is, and will be as long as your beloved leader remains.
