No Rivalry Between GMC, Suh
December 4th, 2014Some Bucs fans still debate it, which Joe thinks is crazy: Which team got the best defensive tackle in the 2010 draft, the Bucs with Gerald McCoy or the Lions with Ndamukong Suh?
Both starred in the Big XII. Suh was a manbeast at Nebraska, literally ragdolling quarterbacks to the ground as if they were children. GMC was a sack machine too, reminding folks of a young Warren Sapp.
Suh was selected second overall; GMC third. Both are always compared to one another. They always will be, GMC said today at One Buc Palace.
“Honestly, the reality is that there is no rivalry but we will be linked because of the draft,” McCoy said. “Even in college, we were in the same conference. We were both up for the Lombardi [Award]. We are going to be linked for years to come. The reality of that is, if we push each other, it is to be the best we can be. Every time we meet up at Pro Bowl we get together and say, ‘We said we were going to take this league over together, let’s keep doing it.’
“If I do something good he like, ‘Great job.’ If he does something good, I say, ‘Great job. Keep doing it.’ We both respect each other. We will always be linked but there is no rivalry. We both try to be the best for our teams.”
For Joe’s money, at least this year, GMC is the choice. The spreadsheeters believe GMC is alone at the top for being a freak of nature disrupting plays. GMC also is on what’s at best an average defensive line.
Suh has plenty of help playing on one of the better defensive lines gets about the same results as GMC.
Advantage: GMC.

The biggest gap between them coming into this year was Suh’s propensity for very stupid penalties. Those are way down this year (though you wonder if it’s a contract year thing), so these guys are pretty much even. Wouldn’t be upset with either.

You can bet that Lovie will try his best to get GMC some help, in the next draft.

Just hoping Lovie makes the right choices in the draft to get GMC some help. We havent had the best luck drafting D linemen.

totally off subject… does anyone know what’s going on with 98.7 the fan
They look to be off the air?

Nick Fairely, Suh’s partner, also a beast DT, will be a possible free agent next year. If He hits the market I hope L&L do their best to sign him. Cause he would be a great edition to our line.

Lol I meant addition obviously

“Every time we meet up at the Pro Bowl.” Lmfao. He talks like he’s been to the Pro Bowl 10 years straight. He’s only been to two. Lmfao. WTF. Pro Bowl is washed up. Anyone who disagrees is remedial. Look at what happened to Beast LVD. That shows how serious and credible the Pro Bowl voting is.

I like Suh’s nasty. I still get a huge laugh when I think about him stomping on EDS, that’s just funny to me. But what do I know….
Suh is to gmc as Sherman is to Peterson. All great athletes but that arrogance, got to love it. I’m from NY though so that’s just how I roll.
December 4th, 2014 at 5:41 pm
I’ve said plenty of times. Suh is nasty and savage borderline 50/50 when on the field. Just the way you got to be to play that position.
December 4th, 2014 at 5:58 pm
Yea Ray Rice, that Lee Roy Selmon was a complete loser because he didn’t play dirty and wasn’t arrogant EB55.
DB55, I knew from your posts in the past you were probably a closet fan for another team, now I know it’s probably either the Jets or the Giants.
There is a word for arrogance when it isn’t backed up with experience or knowledge, it’s called hubris.
For the record, McCoy is rated above Suh by his peers.

@Ddneast
Yes, I root for the Giants when they’re not playing the bucs. Is that a crime? They’re just as bad as us, if not worse. What’s your point?
You say mccoy is rated higher by his peers, well then in that case, here let me show you how many fuks I give. Oh man, all out of fuks to give right now but you come back now you hear.
December 4th, 2014 at 6:35 pm
@DD
You’re telling me Leroy Selmon never did anything dirty during a game??? Lmfao. That’s just like saying Mean JOE Green didn’t either. Suh would have fit in well in that era. They all played like savages back then. And FYI- I HEART Leroy. Played the position like a beast. As did Dave Pear.

Actually spreadsheeters this year have Suh over McCoy,, primarily because of the Falcons game where McCoy weirdly got manhandled by scrubs which led to his worst performance ever.
December 4th, 2014 at 7:45 pm
@Jonny, where’s this article/proof of this? Or is this just water cooler talk?
December 4th, 2014 at 10:53 pm
Cool Ray Rice! A Dave Pear reference! The dude was a beast! Would love to have someone like him at the nose!
December 4th, 2014 at 11:04 pm
@Greg
Yes he was man. Yes he was. I would definitely love to have someone even remotely close to him anywhere on our DL.. That dude was just plain nasty. In a good way.

Ole Bill, my reference to McCoy being rated above Suh by his peers was from a special the NFL network did on the top 100 players in the NFL as rated by the other players in the league. Since this is a station you have to pay for, I doubt many of the cheap freeloading people out here ever saw it.
Doesn’t it hurt to get nailed by the truth Ray Rice. Isn’t that why you let loose with your childish rant.
An old proverb states, “A person can’t serve two masters.” Neither can a fan. Growing up as a child I used to be a Cardinals fan but once the Bucs started playing I never followed them again.
In fact, when the Bucs beat the Cards for their first ever home win in the NFL, I was in the stands rooting for the Bucs.
You would probably lie and say it isn’t true, but I bet if the Giants played the Bucs today you would root for the Giants.
That makes you, sir, a fraud and a poser. Something I suspect many of you people who post inane comments about the Bucs really are.
Also, just because Selmon played like beast, doesn’t mean he played dirty. Your feeble minded thinking just won’t allow you to think otherwise.

Lol, you’re a funny guy. I pretty sure neither Ray or I give two chits what you think dd.
December 5th, 2014 at 10:52 am
let’s make the debate more interesting by throwing wads of cash at Suh and having them line up next to each other for 4-5 years. would be the antidote to those quick release QBs the bucs never succeed against and would make average DBs look like all pros.
December 5th, 2014 at 2:31 pm
DB55, thanks for your insight. I wish it meant more to me, but unfortunately, due to your inability to express yourself in an intelligent manner, I find very little merit in your thoughts.
Didn’t they have a school in that urban hovel of a town you grew up and were abused in that could teach you better word to use other than made up expletives.
Hey, you have a nice day, too.
