McCown Could See Confidence In Bengals

The Bengals were sitting on the routes of Bucs receivers, jumping routes and taking chances in the secondary, said Josh McCown.
Tampa Bay’s re-starting quarterback said he could see a Cincinnati team that was so confident for a reason that might make Bucs fans ill.
Speaking on Total Access on the Buccaneers Radio Network last night, McCown the Bengals were comfortable taking more risks than he expected.
“Vincent [Jackson] and I talked about it before the half, with the interception [I threw]. I had to move in the pocket so I didn’t get the ball out as fast as I would have liked to. Vince said, ‘Man, there’s sitting on these routes, man. They’re sitting,'” McCown explained. “[Teams] have sat on us before, but not has have as these guys. They do a good job of matching. And sometimes, especially when you have confidence in your front-7 to get pressure, you can do that. And it was obvious with them.”
Ouch.
So the Bengals flustered the Bucs because they were so sure they could abuse the Buccaneers’ offensive line.
No wonder the Bucs had successful screens. Perhaps they should have thrown more. Cincinnati made McCown and the O-line beat them, which proved to be a great strategy.
Look for more of that in Detroit against the NFL’s No. 1 ranked defense.

I’m asking the head of Warhop, Arroyo, Cousins and a second opinion on all our other OL before shipping them all out. They are beyond horrible and I think coaching has a lot to do with the poor performance of the line. EDS wasn’t bad in GB, Collins played fairly well in CIN, Mankins was graded as one of the best in this preseason and Dotson was a better OL last year. Omameh has always been an experimental project since he got there so no need to act like he was an allstar. He was the supposed weakness of the line..
Anyway I still hope they win next sunday. Screw the draft

The almost 50% who expressed some degree of confidence in Lovie should remember that he was the one who gutted the old OL and handpicked the new one.

if he knew what they were doing going into the half and did not correct the problem and/or burn them for it….well what does that tell you.
he sucks a$$ and is nothing more than a yes man…running the plays, going through the motions and looking for someone to blame. how about a quick pump fake and go deep!!

Still don’t get it. Look at the 4th qrt of the game and there are open routes on almost every play if not more than one open route.
Case in point, one of his last passes was thrown to Herron and almost picked off right? But if you look 6 inches to the left of Herron you’ll see Murphy wide open with the closest defender about 5y away. On another play in the 4th, Vjax is open on a skinny post for a TD but mccown throws it elsewhere. It seems like mccown looks for the covered receivers to throw to, idk, this offense is perplexing.

Give him a little credit. It’s kind of hard having to pick the snap up off the ground in the shotgun formation. AKA “The Gilkey Snap” lol

That strategy was stupid and should have back fired and almost did. But that’s why we could screen and run it so well, the line can’t block long enough to get it down the field. You can see now more than ever it’s what the bucs do to themselves not defenses

I was at the game on Sunday and I asked myself multiple times why they didn’t run more screens. Arroyo couldn’t run an offense on Madden.

At this point in the game I have to feel That Lovie Smith is thinking about the Welfare State which is the NFL Draft.
Look like your trying hard and fail on purpose in order to get a high draft pick.
Otherwise there is rational or statisitical reason to have McCown Still in at QB.
Bucs 2 for 11 on Third down and we had 3 turn overs.
And once again McCown threw for more Ints than TD’s.
This is a F@cking problem. Look back at his history. His has more games with more Ints than TDs than his has TD’s to INTs.

a good coaching staff will use that confidence to their advantage with trick plays or by featuring somebody other than a WR. needless to say, our coaching staff did not. what would any reasonably confident QB or OC do with DBs sitting on routes?
