A Bucs running back issued a telling quote
Joe has said, since the loss to Minnesota, that the Bucs defense turned the corner from the woeful seal-clubbings by the likes of the Dixie Chicks and the Crows. Totally chain-whipped.
Joe pointed to holding the Vikings to 13 points in regulation. If a defense holds an NFL team to a mere 13 points, it should celebrate a victory.
Well, yesterday, the Bucs held the AFC North-leading Bengals to 288 yards, forced three picks in the first half, and held them to just two scores.
That, friends, is playing defense.
The offense? Pppfffttt! What a joke.
Defenders on the Bucs are getting fed up because their solid play is being wasted week after week. But they are pros and they support their teammates on offense. Joe can’t blame them for being angry.
However, offensive players are understanding they are letting the team down. Bucs running back Bobby Rainey, caught on video on WFLA-TV Channel 8 last night, said, “We are not holding up our end of the bargain.”
They sure aren’t. That is why in a few weeks, Lovie may have his biggest decision to make in his tenure as Bucs coach — who will be his next offensive coordinator. Hopefully, whoever that man is can heal what ails the Bucs offense. And right now there are a lot of open wounds.

Don’t forget the special teams. They came to play yesterday as well. Punt coverage was laying the wood as soon as the punter touched the ball and Lemon’s play on the onside kick was outstanding. 2 out of the 3 elements of the team showed up yesterday and we still lost. I think that is a great example to bring up the next time Lovie talks about how 8 games can be won with great defense and 2 with great special teams. We had both of them working yesterday but the offense was so abysmal that it negated all of it.

From what I’ve seen, when we had those fourth quarter leads, our Offense couldn’t do jacksh** to keep our D off the field and they got gassed. I would still place most of the blame on Arroyo and McCown.

I believe that the offense is just returning the favor to the defense for the way they played the 1st half of the season. I’d blame the defense for the loses to the Rams, Saints, Vikings, and Browns. Doesn’t matter anymore anyways. They need to figure out if they are taking Mariota or Winston. I’m guessing Mariota will be gone by the time the Bucs pick.

It’s ok guys. The Bucs sent some scouts out to watch Mariota. We will be saved.

I don’t think the offense can up high enough to dry anything. We have some great receivers and runners that must be the most frustrated people on the planet with what we have in OL, QB, Coaches and plays.
With 12 players we only got a 20+ yard pass play. Wonder if anyone would notice 13 players?

I have definitely had enough of McCown. Turns out Lovie is not a better judge of QB’s than any of the other countless coaches who have evaluated McCown over the years.
Bengals played a ton of man which should have been perfect for us. But McCown would not throw the ball. Incredibly frustrating watching from the end zone as there were countless opportunities with our big receivers one on one.

Which part of the team is going to lay the biggest turd in the game and which part of the coaching staff is going to eat the most corn.
Just look at how efficient Marvin Lewis Coaching staff was. They identified that there were 12 men on the field in seconds. And then let Marvin know and then he acted.
What the heck is the coaching staff for the bucs doing?

Warren Sapp used to tell Trent Dilfer “you get us 14 points and we’ll win the game”. We could only be so lucky here. We’ll see how good the defense is next week in Detroit. No Barry Sanders or Herman Moore this time around, but Calvin, Joique, and Golden will give the Bucs D a good test.

At this point is anyone really disappointed that the Bucs lost. If they really like Mariota, then Lovie needs to make sure the offense doesn’t do anything stupid and win a meaningless game. Thank you to whoever’s fault it was to have 12 men on the field.

Sapp and brooks bit their tongue when it came to offense. These guys need to remember team chemistry first. Someone should walk up to #13 and tell him this is his team now and next year slap a C on his jersey. he is the captain of the ship now in my eyes. He needs to get on #12 like he got on Gilkey yesterday.

Hate to say it and I know it’s dumb, but I was upset to see them lose. No. 1 draft pick be damned I still would rather see the team win and build some momentum for next year. As I’ve pointed out before teams that establish a culture of winning usually maintain it without a high 1st round pick (sometimes even trading out of the first round completely to add picks) while teams that typically tank (deliberately or not) usually find a way to mess up that high first round pick year in and year out…Jags, Raiders, Buc’s!

Both make stupid decisions even when they have time.
Both suck. Lots of holes to fill but I have changed my mind and I believe qb is the biggest hole. I can’t stand to even hear mcclown talk anymore. Draft any qb available.

I’m not rooting for the bucs to tank, but it helps after losses to know winning is irrelevant and possibly counter productive. i remember how fired up i was when bruce gradkowski led the bucs to a last second win vs these bengals at Ray Jay and a week later we booted a 63 yarder with time expiring to beat the eagles. those 2 euphoric moments left us on the outside looking in as the lions drafted calvin johnson and the browns landed Joe Thomas. if gradkowski and matt bryant had been slightly less heroic we would have a future HOF on our roster (assuming we wouldn’t have traded him to the Patriots at some point) instead of gaines adams\sabby piscitelli

This team’s better than last year’s version of a team… and Marvin Lewis has had teams worse than this one too. Change for the sake of change is pure ignorance. This defense has turned the corner. After 6 games their defensive ranking in nearly every category (yards, passing yards, points) was either the worst or among the worst in the league), now they rank 20th in surrendering yards per game, a testament to how well this team has been playing, especially after how bad they ranked after 6 games.
You’re advocating change because you don’t see wins? But yet we’re seeing so much progress, this defense is very good right now. The offense will improve with the hiring of a real offensive coordinator and a better QB. Eight points a game would’ve made this team 9-3. I’m pretty sure a real OC and QB would add an additional 8 points. Change now and we lose all the progress, particularly on defense, and we start all over again. And that would be just plain idiotic.

hire a young healthy offensive coordinator that is progressive…broken old men need not apply
