Chucky Back In Coaching Mode

The world’s greatest coach, who just loves football and loves to talk football but doesn’t want to coach football, is back at it.
Chucky participated in a promotional video for GoPro to show how much the video camera can help high school football programs.
Naturally, Chucky broke out his fired football coaches schtick as if he is some martyr. This drives Joe nuts. Get over it, Chucky.
You have a good job and are paid handsomely to work maybe three days a week, tops, for 20 weeks a year. You have more free time than teachers.
Look, Paul Brown and Tom Landry and Don Shula also were fired. You aren’t either of the three, so chill out. Enjoy life. And be careful jacking up a high school player’s head during practice.

I was ready for him to leave @ the time. Now I see he was making a pretty good Thanksgiving dinner with sticks, mud and water. [Not cool. — Joe] quit spending money during his final time here and yet he still made a run for the playoffs. What I would give to have had The Ego here all this time instead of the [Not cool. — Joe] brought in. I hope their kickball team never wins another game.

how dare you disrespect chucky, he won us a SB for christ sake. he also has every right to talk about the FFCA, they fired him after a winning season. besides he thinks its hilarious that they fired him, you can feel the sarcasm seeping out every time he talks about football, and its all aimed at TB. he will continue to talk the shit and i don’t blame him.

looking at what happened to the teams he coached since he left, it’s possible gruden was more underrated as a coach than anybody realized. between the raiders and the bucs, they have probably burned through over a dozen coaches trying to come close to the competitive level they last had under gruden.

I’m not a big fan of Gruden even though he coached the Super Bowl win here. He brought in the offensive players to win that game. I don’t know, I guess he would qualify as a good head coach. He is full of it, that’s for sure. His approach makes Lovie look like he is sleepwalking.

Gruden is a genius. The Super Cheap Glazers fired him because he wanted them to spend money on some players. I would dump Lovie today if it meant getting the genius of Gruden back here. Think about it Joe, he delivered a superbowl with the Bucs! The Bucs, the worst team in all of prefesssional sports. He’s a legend and a god in tampa bay. He did what dungy could not do.

Say what you want about Chucky – and yes familiarity does tend to breed a degree of contempt – and we all have warts. But the man is super passionate about football and his enthusiasm is contagious. He also has one of the better offensive minds in the game IMO.
The entire 7 years that Gruden was coach of the Bucs – he was the hardest working man in the building and his work ethic and 4 am arrivals at One Buc Place everyday were well documented. So I certainly don’t begrudge him a cushy main gig with light hours at this point in his life Joe.
We all saw what he could do with top end talent (Super Bowl dominance) – and we also got to see Gruden’s teams continue to be fairly competitive with mediocre talent once the Glazers slammed the checkbook shut and stopped paying for FA talent by spending the least of any team in the league every single year for 8 years straight starting in 2004. Bad drafting the last half of Gruden’s tenure didn’t help matters – and while I’m sure Chucky had input on players drafted – that lack of good drafting was squarely on Bruce Allen’s shoulders and he has continued that trend in Washington DC.
I miss the guy. Football was fun when Gruden was our coach – and we had the most success (Super Bowl victory) the franchise has ever seen when he was in charge. It’s hard not to have fond memories of Chucky’s tenure with the Buccaneers considering the shape this franchise has been in since the very day he (and Monte) left the building…

Always a Gruden fan, always have been always will be, and will always be grateful for what he did here. Even after the Superbowl, despite their struggles, they managed 3 more winning seasons….we’ve had 1 since he left, and our overall record is 30-61. Is that good?

A lot of bums complained about Gruden when he was here, especially that lousy local sports radio jerk, but I and certain that the Bucs would be relevant immediately if he was hired back. Not that it would ever happen but one can dream. What else is there to do?…watch this sht show every Sunday?

It’s amazing how much admiration, Raider fans have for Chucky. Their always talking about how he turned their franchise around; made them contenders again. How Gruden compiled a 40–28 win-loss record (including playoffs) in four seasons with the Raiders with scraps. They yelp, scream and holler about how…..”the fix” was in. They beat New England!!! They would’ve won the Super Bowl. It was gonna be the beginning of a new dynasty.
Everything was going great then the unthinkable happens…
We get’em in a trade that included our 2002 and 2003 first-round draft picks, 2002 and 2004 second-round draft picks, and $8 million in cash. Then all of a sudden BAM-Gruden significantly retooled our offense with the addition of numerous free agents. Unlike years past- Both the offense and defense hit their stride in the playoffs-then Walla our 1st Super Bowl……Against ……the Raiders…Lol

What’s even more ironic is that ,they did a poll a couple months back. “How many Raiders fans would Luv to have Gruden back as coach”!!!
It was an astounding 90%+ in Gruden’s favor.

Joe admonishes readers for inaccuracies all the time so it’s time I did the same. Don’t post stuff that isn’t true, Joe.
Teachers work 10 months of the year, five days a week during that time in a contract that equates to between 190-200 days a year. A regular 9-5 guy in a different career will work about 245 days a year. However, many/most teachers attend classes/conferences/teach summer school during summers so the days working number is usually much higher plus, as an educator for the past 14 years I’ve had numerous days where I brought work home and nearly put in another full-time day at home. So, your point about teachers having extremely light work schedules is just plain erroneous.
Now if you want to look into careers that have favorable work days, look at firefighter (those working 24 hour shifts work about 7 days a month), strippers (make a ton of money working 3-5 days a week for between 3-5 hours of work per day), or website operator (I have no statistical data here, for karma’s sake I just thought I’d take a shot at your work schedule whether it be accurate or not :).

Gruden gave us as bucs fans,the euphoric feeling of winning the superbowl. he tweeked the offense and his inside knowledge of raiders offense gave our
defense a huge advantage.But sometimes nostalgia overtakes reality.He got rid of rich McKay and a proven draft system.Brought in Bruce Allen and they hbrought in too many overpaid,over the hill players. Together they amassed
a less than a 40% winning record since the superbowl.

Bro, I don’t care or give a damn what Gruden says or does now.
He was the man in 2002 and in January 2003. He can do no wrong in my book.
