Banks Keeps Paying Dividends
November 24th, 2014It’s been so rare for Tampa Bay to score a quality player in the second round of the NFL Draft, that the standout play of second-year man Johnthan Banks is worth a standing ovation.
Banks put another solid game in the books yesterday.
Bucs cornerbacks kept DeSean Jackson and Pierre Garcon quiet two Sundays ago, and beastly Bears receivers Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffrey were very quiet yesterday. They combined for a paltry 54 yards.
Alterraun Verner was strong in his return from a bum hamstring, and Banks also had three solo tackles and a tackle for a loss.
As healthy Darrelle Revis gets consideration for Defensive Player of the Year, Joe is left wondering what might have been.

We would be a seven win team if we kept Revis, and passed on Johnson, Collins, and EDC.

That solo tackle of Matt Forte on third down was great! Nice to see Banks isn’t afraid to get dirty and get physical on third down.

This shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone, he was the Jim thorpe award winner his senior season, which is awarded to the best defensive back in college football.

And yes Johnson Collins and EDC should all get traded for draft picks that is if any team is stupid enough to take on those contracts :p

Really? Maybe I read that article wrong. Tate went for 4catches 97 yards and Revis has 2 ints this year. Banks has 3 ints and I don’t think he’s come close to giving up 100y a game. Revis still riding high from when he WAS Revis island but he’s far from that now. He plays in a great system that’s it.

LVD
Banks
Ja Smith

But wait we got mike johnson and Anthony Collins….

Hey Joe, how about a poll on the Bucs bright spot this year: Evans, LVD, Banks, Smith

Revis’s days as an elite CB are way way behind him. He’s been okay this year but there is ZERO chance the Pats exercise their option on him next season at next year’s salary. He is a shell of his former self, he’s good now, but not great. Good players don’t make $12 mil (or $26 mil with the Bucs).

@brandon
Wow for once we agree. Whoop whoop.
November 24th, 2014 at 12:36 pm
Revis is gonna be on the All Pro team lol. The Pats will work out a long term deal, and we’ll keep being a good farm team for them to take our talented, but poorly coached players, and turn them into productive NFL players. Doug Martin is next up to Foxboro to make us look idiotic no doubt.

Bucrightoff
It’s f depressing.

It’s because the pass rush is finally showing up.
The defense played well. Gave up 21 points primarily on short fields.

Revis gets all pro honors because he is playing in Boston and the media that covers football are all located in the north east US. If ESPN’s headquarters were in Tampa than the probowl, and many other honors would be very different. Statistically Alterraun Verner and Johnthan Banks are having better seasons than Revis.
November 24th, 2014 at 1:21 pm
Revis is good, but not $1,000,000.00 per game good. No one is. Banks is coming along great!
November 24th, 2014 at 1:41 pm
lol at Verner and Banks having better seasons. Patriots have played a much tougher schedule. If we had played Denver and Indy we’d have lost by a combined 120-14, and Banks and Verner would have scorch marks on them from Damaryius and Emmanuel and TY Hilton lighting them up.
The bigger point is Lovie can’t adapt to talent, talent has to adapt to him. I’m glad Tim Wright gets to win though, as well as putting up better stats than ASJ, despite ASJ playing 95% of all Bucs snaps and Wright 25% of all Pats snaps.

@bucrightoff Revis is not even in the top 30 corners in the league right now. Meanwhile, Banks is a top 10 CB.

You people are out of your damn minds.
Revis is still elite. He’s been great all year.
Banks has been really good for about a month now but he was absolutely terrible early on this year…couldn’t cover or tackle anyone. Don’t give me this top-10 corner crap. Verner has had a much better season anyway…but I’ll admit that Banks’ growth in recent weeks has been a nice surprise.

Tomorrow is the future, the present is the past, the future is now. This is the way it “has-been”.

Revis is ranked #3 in passes defended. Banks and Verner aren’t even in the top 40. So….
