More Evidence Of McCown 2015

Lovie Smith admits the Josh McCown seen in Washington was the quarterback he envisioned back in March, when Lovie was quick to move on McCown with Team Glazer’s checkbook.
McCown has looked the part — for the most part — since returning two Sundays ago.
Speaking in his exclusive pregame chat with Scott Smith of Buccaneers.com, Smith raved about McCown doing more than just what Joe referenced above. Lovie seized a chance to praise McCown’s leadership, specifically his role in “keeping the group up.”
Yes, doom and gloom can infest a losing locker room. There must be a driving force to pull a team out of it.
The Bucs couldn’t do that in 2011, losing 10 straight after a 4-2 start. Somehow, it seemed the leader of the New Schiano Order marched the Bucs to a 4-4 record in the second half of last season following an 0-8 start.
Lovie appears to be counting on McCown to be the driving force of this year’s Bucs.
As much as Joe wants to will the Bucs to draft an elite quarterback prospect in April, does anyone really think Lovie would bench his team leader, if the Bucs can build even a little momentum through their final six games?

If Lovie passes on a potential franchise QB because our current roster is showing “improvement” and “leadership”, then I will lose a lot of faith in him as a decision maker. Given McCown’s age, is Lovie really expecting McCown to be here for the long haul? Passing on a good QB this draft would set us back at least another year.

I think it would be wise to show us 4-5 games like the last one before making judgement. I for one would like to see some game to game consistency in all phases. If Mariota is there at their pick, they would be nuts to pass. 65% completion rating 2 years now. M is Top ranked in NCAA right now.. #5FSU = 12. BK

Some of us “know” that Lovie will start McCown next year with or without momentum. Even though the one win came against a bad team having a very bad day.

The real question is what about Glennon? Has Lovie completely given up on him? If that is the case he will be traded and we may select a QB in the draft (not necessarily with our first pick)

If Mccown has a good showing, win or lose, against
the teams we face the rest of this season, it really does bring up the question of Glennon??
I think Lovie will likely want to see Glennon some more before the season is over.

Unless there is an edict from the Glazers to draft a franchise QB with the first pick, Lovie is going to stay pat with McCown next season.
Glennon never really had a shot here. Shop the Cannon around the league and then declare him the QOF? They will do the exact same thing this offseason too.

People, the more you play Glennon the less value he has as trade bait. Josh has a two year deal for a reason. We will draft a qb, trade Mike for draft picks and get whomever we pick ready for 2016.

Glennon never had a shot here? He is a good kid but does not have ‘it’. He had his shot when McCown was hurt and showed he can not throw mid range or long balls. The NFL is a passing league. The days of games with scores of 7 to 3 points are long gone. DRAFT a QB with the 1st pick and let McCown help develop him!!!!

An awesome offensive line can make a very average qb look really good.
How about let’s fix the line. That’s where everything on offense starts is the O-line.
Oh by the way we have the worst O-line in football.

Glennon had one or two games missing some throws and he is now being viewed as a QB who just does’nt have “it”. That assumption will be proved wrong in the long run. MG would of beat the D.C. team also, imo.

Bucs in a good spot qb wise. Mcnown and Glennon serviceable if we can upgrade o-line but we might also have an opportunity to draft mariotta or Winston. Also we could trade Glennon for an extra pick. My #1 wish is mariotta. I’d take Winston too but he’s risky. For sure we need to draft 2 o-line guys within our first 5 picks.

He’s starting 2015, maybe all of it. People need to get used to it so they aren’t too pissed when Lovie takes a lineman with the 1st round pick.

And it’s not even the team leader aspect, it’s the vet aspect. Lovie has to win next year to avoid getting fired, and he is not trusting a young guy to do that. A QB, if taken, won’t be taken till the 3rd round at least, and frankly I think Lovie is comfortable with Glennon backing up McCown. 60% chance they don’t draft a QB at all, 99% chance the fanbase wants Lovie fired for not doing so.

Yes, if he believes there’s a franchise QB available, he will draft on with the first pick. That doesn’t mean the new QB will start right away, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Lovie knows McCown is 35, and father time is undefeated. However, if they don’t believe there’s a true franchise QB available, he’s not going to draft one. I’m all for drafting a QB, but he better be the man. We can’t afford to screw up draft picks.

thekevin …you must have forgotten 2014’s OFFENSIVE draft class. This fact kind of shoots your Lovie will pick def theory right in the ass. I dont see any Reggie White coming out this year either. Lovie did say and sign McCown to 2 years so this may be part of his plan. I think the Glennon experiment is over. I like Mike but average does not equal playoffs.

I am not real sure there will be a franchise QB to be had, when we draft.
We have many other needs, beside QB we need to address.
I have come to like McCown, but didn’t at first.
I am not convinced we can’t win with him, as long as we can rush the passer, and give him time to throw the ball.
I really don’t see any Andrew Luck’s in this draft, do you ?
The FSU QB seems to be one big problem, and Mariotta may be a big risk, as a pocket passer.

I don’t care who we have under center and how well he’s playing. If Tom Brady is our quarterback but your picking in the top of the draft, at his age why would you not draft a quarterback. He’s old and what if he goes brett Farve and has a bad injury then what? Hell yea you draft a quarterback, do your audience really have to be the ones point that out. So what if our top picks sits for a year, duh it’s about the future. Damn if Aaron rodgers can do it then it’s not a big deal to sit and learn

Of course it would seem insane nowadays to draft a QB and let him sit on the bench and learn the game like Aaron Rogers did. Look how terrible that worked out.
Rodgers even succeeded by watching Farve since as Farve said at the time he had no clause in his contract that covered him mentoring players who wanted to replace him.
Of course the media and the fans are to immature, impatient and ignorant to ever allow that to happen here.

Lol that’s because lovie thought he had his defense set that’s why they went all offense. Now he sees this defense is terrible and so is the O-line.

The intelligent move- is to keep Josh behind Center for 2015.
1)Winston is stupid. Love his game- but he’ll implode. Reminds of of that kid The Raiders lost a draft pick on. You can’t cure stupid
2) Mariotta is a system QB. No experience in NFL offense. Can he adapts my have notl!

Wow! I can’t think of any teams in the NFL,media, or fans from other cities that would say this about McCown. If he was very good, he would have been a starter for most of his career…and even then that wouldn’t mean he is very good.
