Ronde Knows
November 29th, 2014Bucs icon Ronde Barber often joins his twin brother on national CBS Sports radio to talk football.
Joe must say, Barber is much improved as an analyst, as he climbs the FOX ranks as a game color man.
Though it was depressing for Bucs fans to hear Barber talk last week about how he considers St. Louis the up-and-coming team in the NFL, it was more painful to hear Barber passionately express one of his golden rules of modern football.
“If you don’t have a good, beyond serviceable quarterback in this league, you’re not going to win consistently,” Barber said.
One thing Joe was not thankful for yesterday was the Bucs’ quarterback position. They don’t have a “beyond serviceable” QB.
Joe hopes Team Glazer is as bitter as Joe is about that fact. The Bucs could have spent this season developing a quarterback. Instead, they tried for a Christmas miracle that turned into a September stink.

Correction Joe the Bucs do have a beyond serviceable QB on roster, but for reasons unknown Lovie wants to start MCCown instead.
November 29th, 2014 at 3:46 pm
Glennon is not beyond serviceable he is a backup just like McCown.
November 29th, 2014 at 3:58 pm
The Bucs have 2nd & 3rd string quarterbacks. They desperately need a 1st string QB.
November 29th, 2014 at 4:03 pm
You can’t develop a turd and you can’t polish it either!
Glennon stinks too…
November 29th, 2014 at 8:13 pm
No comment 🙂 ain’t over yet ….win out and they are all heros! Lol
November 29th, 2014 at 9:13 pm
I’m telling you joe we will win tom. You heard it here first. Feel free to give me credit when u write it up tom.
November 29th, 2014 at 10:24 pm
The only thing Glennon is developing into is an insurance salesman.
November 30th, 2014 at 12:25 am
hey bucko Bruce you stole my f****** name so I had to change mine I don’t know how you did it.
November 30th, 2014 at 1:00 am
Glennon would have been good with a good line.
November 30th, 2014 at 3:31 am
Most Qb’s would have been good with a good line. Aaron Rogers 2 best years were also the 2 years he was like the leagues most sacked QB. Can’t blame poor decision making on a O-Line. Glennon and McCown both take far to long to wait for a play to develop. Then when there IS pressure they turn into a “chicken with it’s head cut off” and end up making costly plays.
For the record I believe Glennon is a better QB than McCow but I do not believe either are starting material. We need a starting QB!
November 30th, 2014 at 9:01 am
Can we evaluate anyone behind this offensive line. I agree we need a qb but let’s face it. Martin didn’t forget how to run and Josh and Mike aren’t as awful as they seem. With no offensive line nothing works period. Marcus 2015 please.
November 30th, 2014 at 9:02 am
It is beyond comprehension to me that anyone would still hold out hope for “No Longer The Future”. Unfortunately, MG8 is nothing more than a serviceable back up
November 30th, 2014 at 9:36 am
How is mg bad? His stats say he’s decent most of you guy think your either Aaron Rodgers or you suck. Really stupid. I agree most qbs would look good behind a good o-line but how many qbs would look good behind a bad o-line. Pretty much none. Especially pocket qbs who can’t move. I don’t see mg as top notch but he’s been ok.
November 30th, 2014 at 9:45 am
Stats are for losers and Glennon is the epitome of a loser with stats. The Bucs offense in the games he’s played is the worst in the league in both yardage and putting points on the board. What’s the spin on that, Glennon-fans? The WORST. Say what you want about the inconsistent McCown, the team is still better with him at the helm than Glennon.
November 30th, 2014 at 9:48 am
For the record, I’ve been on board with the Glennon for starter chatter for a long while. Nobody can deliver those “L”s like Glennon. McCown scares me, he actually gives the team a chance to win.
November 30th, 2014 at 9:57 am
Stats aren’t for losers they are a piece of information that helps you evaluate a player. Like having one of the worst offensive lines statistically and one of the worst defenses statistically in the league. It’s a team game. To assume people are mg fans because they look at numbers is the most ignorant thing you can do. But facts are stubborn things easier to be stupid fan and ignore facts and just blame qb. Your either great or you suck. Stats don’t matter. Team around you doesn’t matter. How retArted.

“The Bucs could have spent this season developing a quarterback.”
Maybe it was good we didn’t draft a rookie QB round one last year. After Tedford left, is there a coach on this team you’d feel confident about developing a young QB? Not me.
November 30th, 2014 at 10:14 am
Plus, we wouldn’t have gotten Evans. I know a QB is more important and it’s not rational, but I don’t care. At this point, there isn’t a player in the league I’d trade Evans for.
November 30th, 2014 at 10:17 am
More like improved performance of our defense last few weeks has given bucs a chance to win not mcnown or mg. I’ve said mg looks average to me but average isn’t awful. I think one game we scored 31 and lost to saints was that in the qb too?
November 30th, 2014 at 11:16 am
Funny how some fellow posters think they know more than a potential Hall of Famer…
November 30th, 2014 at 11:54 am
Checked mg qb rating this year 83% last year 83% I think league avg is 78-79. Show me where we get a better qb than mg for similar $ I’m all in. Only guys I can think of aren’t in the league yet-Winston, mariotta. Either way glad we have mg back next year. Great qbs aren’t out there for the taking. Just in deluded fans minds.

@ Stu
I don’t think anyone here is saying they know more than Ronde, but nowhere in the quote does Ronde say the Bucs don’t have a “beyond serviceable quarterback”. That is merely an assumption Glennon (and McCown) haters are making. The reason I don’t give up on Sglennon yet is ‘statistically’ he has played better than most of the other young ‘franchise QB’s’ like Geno Smith, EJ Manuel, Blake Bortles, Teddy Bridgewater, etc. The Bucs don’t appear to have a coaching staff that can develop a QB the way the Packers did Rodgers and a NFL ready guy like Luck (on AND off the field) rarely comes along, hence compared to his peers with similar experience Glennon appears beyond serviceable to me

The offensive line is the weakest link. Don’t even judge the OB’s or the RB’s until that problem is fixed. Unfortunately, Lovie Smith does not value offensive line play. Even if Lovie did value the O-line it still wouldn’t help, check out the second weakest link, the D-line, he LOVES those guys and they still suck out loud, even with an All-Pro DT. This is not going to get better, this is Lovie ball.
