Thoughts on the Mark Barron trade vary
Joe wasn’t sure what to make of a Friday Playbook film breakdown on NFL Network.
No joke. Sterling Sharpe dove into Rams game tape from last Sunday to explain how Mark Barron should be a force for St. Louis stopping Peyton Manning today.
Yeah, that Mark Barron.
Sharpe highlighted Barron’s work against the Cardinals in pass and run defense, and his speed on blitzes, and how he’s such a great complement for the Rams’ nasty defensive line, which has 10 sacks over the past two games.
Yes, 25-year-old Barron wasn’t successful with Lovie Smith and was traded for fourth- and sixth-round picks. But remember John Lynch called the trade representative of a “colossal failure” by Lovie and Greg Schiano.
It sure will be interesting to see whether Barron blossoms quickly. Joe wouldn’t bet on it.
But somewhere, Joe suspects former Bucs rockstar general manager Mark Dominik watched that segment and said to himself, ‘Hey, I don’t coach. I just pick talent.’

Lovie smith is a buffoon.. The guy has no idea to pick talent. he had so many years in Chicago to build is team and failed.. what’s going to be an different here? in fact he could never build a offensive line or develop a QB and here we are again.
Lovie = years of possible.500 and nothing more. he is an average coach at best. the bucs really need to let him go now rather than give him another year. there are so many new coaches who have done a better job in their first year. Geez even schiano did.
All of you who are now going to post and say he is the answer and deserves another year are clearly blind.

I still think there was more to the story on trading him. He might have been one of the cancers in the locker room that Lovie HAD to get rid of.

I believe most safeties will struggle with the D-Line we have (we’re pathetic). But with the nasties the Rams have on their front four, Barron will no doubt play better than here. He struggles in coverage and if you don’t have to cover very long, if was probably a smart move on the Ram’s part.

Mark Barron has no coverage skills at all and it was a bad pick, maybe he’s a first round talent but that high? He should have been a cover safety like their guy up in Seattle. Lovie and licht sucked in free agency but not to bad in draft, I can understand going after those guys in free agency just made a mistake not giving competition. Keep drafting well and we’ll get where we want to be. Can’t worry about pleasing fans because all they want is an sensation day one superstar so they’ll complain about free agency or having to develop drafts picks

Free agency is not the way to go the draft is the way to build a team. Lots of holes on this team no band-aid gonna fix this team, Hate to say it but it will take more than a year to fix the mess we are in.

Why are you so worried about Mark Barron doing well somewhere else? Is it because you wrote so many articles, and blabbed across the airways how you believed in your infinite wisdom that Barron was a bust? So now if he plays up to his draft status, it’s a fluke?

I would bet on it. What we have had here for coaches after Father D, has been nothing short of a failure. They have only a few successes for evaluating talent.
I think Barron was happy to get out of here. Fisher will make him an all pro in 3 years.

I would bet on it too. Good coaches can adjust schemes or add wrinkles to utilize their players talents. I said when the trade happened that it was a bad move to give up on a guy in only his 3rd year. And we got nothing for him.
And what do you know, the rams held manning to 7 pts today!

I am always overwhelmed by the positivity on this site.
Unbelievably negative overall.
If some of you people are not happy, then quit following the team, and cheer for someone else.
