Numbers about the same as last week though it’s trending towards no confidence a lot more. With how it’s sliding a 1-15 finish could have the fans so disgusted and apathetic the Glazers have no choice but to fire Lovie.
lovie is a bust this year as if he forgot how to coach and yes he brought in a lot of talent and wasted the glazers money but realistically these free agents aren’t even producing at the level they did last year so they are on the team now what can you do? I’m disgusted this year but year one i’ll give a pass however year two ill be calling for his head, ill go get tickets just to boo him out of tampa. I do remember how electric tampa used to be during our glory days when you knew this team was gonna come out and put it all out on the field and whether it’s lovie or anyone else I choose to think that is whats on the horizon NEXT YEAR. we are all hating but when the offseaon comes the enthusiasm will kick in around the bay again
Seven first-year head coaches in the NFL this year:
Cleveland: Mike Pettine 2013: 4-12 2014: 6-3
Minnesota: Mike Zimmer 2013: 5-10-1 2014: 4-5
Detroit: Jim Caldwell 2013: 7-9 2014: 7-2
Tennessee: Ken Whisenhunt 2013: 7-9 2014: 2-7
Washington: Jay Gruden 2013: 3-13 2014: 3-6
Houston: Bill O’Brien 2013: 2-14 2014: 4-5
Tampa Bay: Lovie Smith 2013: 4-12 2014: 1-8
I guess it just takes time, as anyone can see. (sarc)
Especially if you replace the starting OT, OG, C, TE, and QB; all before the first practices. Get very limited production from millions of dollars worth of free agents. Lose an offensive coordinator, and refuse to try to replace him. Replace a weak pass rush with an almost invisible one. Replace one of the best turnover ratios with an inept one. Commit repeated penalties at the most inopportune times, and for the dumbest reasons. Take till the 10th game to realize the pass protection isn’t too good, and finally throw some curls and slants off quick drops. Continue to try running plays “up the gut” with limited to no success. Hire a defensive coordinator whose team was worst in the NFL last year in points allowed per game, only to be even worse this year. And finally, have your team play with no heart or passion, then yeah “it takes time”.
I voted little because my eyes know what they see. Just can’t believe that almost a 3rd of the respondents expressed confidence.
Why? What has anybody seen from Lovie AND his staff to make you think we can at least become a .500 team. We can’t even win a home game against lesser teams.
It’s exactly the same, Joe, but still awaiting moderation. If you will tell me what trips the “moderation” flag, I’ll try to avoid that in the future. Thanks!
I’m confident. This cupboard was left completely bare thanks to Mark D, and LL had to do SOMETHING to try and improve a 4-12 team. Had they just come out and said it was a rebuilding year, they could have rolled with the same personnel as last year and replaced them through draft attrition.
There’s a reason free agents are what they are. If they were game changers, their original team would throw the money they wanted at them. Lovie overestimated his coaching abilities by thinking he could take a band of fringe-players and turn them into a cohesive unit overnight. There is improvement though. It’s going to take a while, but the Glazers set this team back 5 years when they put MD behind the wheel.
I never thought it would come to this but I have been toying with the idea of adopting another team this year and likely for as long as Lovie is HC of the Bucs but I really just don’t care for any other team…. But I sure would like to be reminded what it feels like to be a fan of a winning team…. Or just a team your proud to be associated with!
These past few years my son stopped being a Bucs fan, My wife soon followed and my daughter, well, she is not old enough to know the Bucs as anything but a losing team… My family went from being an all Bucs family to 4 different teams… {UGH!}

And hiring Lovie and giving him full control set them back another 3-5 years. The worst thing anyone can do is compound mistakes by refusing to admit them.

@Chef Paul…me too. I’m still reluctantly putting confident. Seeing how I’m one of the few fans out there that thinks they are losing on purpose at this point.
I really don’t care what anyone else thinks about this tanking that I think is being done on purpose. If I’m wrong, I’m wrong. Then let me be wrong, it’s easier to absorb the losses my way. So that’s what I’m choosing to believe right or wrong.
All of this is a ruse. Things will get better next season, I’m confident of it.

0% total confidence, That says it all!

The only people who are totally confident are our opponents.

Dropped to no because the team is regressing and the play calling is getting worse and the same players are screwing up and playing

Lovie’s on the ropes.

Same as last week for me:
No Confidence 30.81%
November 12th, 2014 at 2:36 pm
4% of people don’t know the definition of the word “confident”.
November 12th, 2014 at 3:52 pm
Coaching is our biggest weakness this season!
November 12th, 2014 at 4:03 pm
Here is why I put confident. I realize it is probably flawed but here goes.
2008- 4
2009- 7
2010- 2
2011- 10
2012- 5
2013- 8
2014 so far- 5
Those are losing streaks by year. Since Gruden left, we’ve had one ONE!!! season with less than a 5 game losing streak. Even in Gruden’s last year we had a 4 game losing streak.
This is bigger than Lovie.
