Mark Barron Arrives For Lambs

Leading 14-10 in the fourth quarter yesterday, the Lambs defense melted down losing 31-14 on the road to Arizona. It was a Bucs-like loss for Lambs coach Jeff Fisher.
The loss may have been ugly, but it seems, based on one game, Fisher may have gotten a win over Bucs overlord of football operations Lovie Smith.
Recently, the Bucs traded bust first round pick safety Mark Barron to the Lambs for a warm Budweiser and side order of toasted ravioli. The Bucs were happy they found someone to take Barron’s salary off of Team Glazer’s books.
Well, Barron in Arizona had perhaps his best game since his rookie season. He had five tackles and a sack of Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer that likely ended his season with a knee injury.
Funny, in just Barron’s second game with St. Louis, Lambs coach Jeff Fisher, a defensive guy, found a way to use Barron’s talents. Here in Tampa Bay, it appears Lovie tries to force square pegs into round holes.
Former NFL scouting director Louis Riddick had the following to say about Barron’s play with Fisher.

The best coaches adapt to their talent. Lovie refuses to adapt to his talent, his scheme is right and he’ll either find the right guys to make it work or destroy the roster trying…

100% the best coaches work and set the players up to be successful not the BS that Lovie has been doing….anyone see what Green Bay did with Clay Matthews last nite…seemed to work or what Pittsburgh does with Troy P all the time….Lovie is a bad talent evaluator and coach period the end

Major Wright was one of our leading tackler against Cleveland 7tackles & 6assists….even beat LVD….he had 3 tackles & 1 assist vs Atl with fewer snaps.
And….we didn’t give up a 1st round pick for him.
Let’s quit crying over spilt milk….>Baron was a Bust for us….we had plenty of opportunities to perform and didn’t.
Also, we aren’t seeing the benefit yet….lets see what our 2 draft picks do….

I am not sure if you watched Sunday Night Football, but the commentator was telling the audience how the Chicago Bears (down 42-0) miss Lovie Smith’s Defensive prowess!!
OMG….I threw the cat at the TV and turned on the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN). It accomplished three valuable things….stupid cat shut up….wife shut up and watched “Snapped….when football fans reach their limit”, and I rolled over for 5 hours of good sleep!
If I hear one more person (Big Poodle included) talk about how no matter what excuse is given…Tedford being ill, no offenseive coordinator….no QB…what ever…at least we have a defense I am going to lose it!
Not just Mark Barron, but watching Darrelle Revis (Patriots), Aquib Talib (Broncos), Michael Bennett (Seahawks), Tim Wright (Patriots), etc etc….When I was the HC the Big Poodle kept blowing me poodle poo over my relationship with the hoodie….but the number of players let go by the Bucs who are starting players making impacts on other teams is very painful. All of these players were lost without compensation or at most…as you say, for a warm Budweiser and a cookie.

Schiano at least was getting the guys fired up to play and getting them in positions to be successful and there was hope with the team…Lovie needs to go and start over he is inept and unqualified to be the coach

I don’t want to hear Barron was a bust. He was not being used to his talents. Same thing with GMC…when I coached the Bucs I failed to use him as a 3 technique tackle…..wasted his talents.
All about coaching ability. I was a new NFL HC with only college experience……it cost me my job. Lovie is a NFL veteran HC and supposedly a defensive guru…yet he fails to use his players to their talents. I learned my lesson….Lovie with more than 10 years as a HC still does not get it!

Lovie will keep finding the right guys for this defense. That takes time when you know how to run the Tampa 2.

You were unable to unleash the talent of Josh Freeman and look where he is now…..another Buc performing well for another team….
And……Broncos, Patriots, Seahawks…….yea, our ex players are doing well at great teams…..it takes special talent & character to play well for a loser (LVD)

Maybe we should go over the years and years of players we have drafted that went on to be studs for other teams? Or maybe this site doesn’t have enough space to list all the name? The Bucs franchise as been historically inept at developing talent or knowing how to use talent. Until the Glazers are gone this will not stop.

TDTB… Now that’s what I call blind faith. In Lovie you trust!!! You are part of a dwindling ( I can’t call it a mob) fanbase who supports Lovie and his bewilderment regarding NFL football. Some of us may not have a few years to wait for even a half way decent team to take the field in Bucs uniforms. Lovie would be a better fit as a games director in a old folks retirement home. You know, that look of where am I and who are you?

He hurt Carson Palmer!! Lmao! Best joke I heard all day. He whiffed on the tackle (sound familiar?) and Palmer tore his knee while avoiding him. Yeah, he’s fantastic when you put him in a defense that doesn’t require good tackling, or actually covering anyone.

Smart players find a way out of cursed Tampa Bay. Even first rounders. No-one wants to play for a perennial loser and weak fanbase. There is a secret mantra that players learn quickly and try to avoid unless they are drafted or are thrown tons of money. That is,
Avoid Tampa Bay if you want to play in obscurity. A place where more careers have been known to die. A place where making the probowl is as prevalent as making the playoffs. If your vision is to be Cantonized one day, then avoid Tampa Bay at all cost. If you find yourself drafted play below your draft status and get yourself released or traded. You’ll be glad you did later, just ask past Buc Alumni who went on to having better careers outside of Tampa Bay.

even if that were true he has the best game of his career since he was a rookie, lovie doesn’t read news so he wouldn’t know. and a good game for a safety is recording pass breakups and interceptions so is that in the stat column or is it blank like usual

5 tackles and one “sack”. When that is your best game as a pro and you were drafted as a top 10 pick I’d say that’s a problem.

TBBF…COME ON MAN you are making less sense than Ray Lewis trying to explain there “are some things you can cover up and some you can’t” Lovie is a horrible head coach and now 2 weeks in a row, I am wondering if his headset is plugged in with some of that crap that goes on there…..he seems so lost out there

Barron wasn’t getting it done so he had to go. The rest of the defensive guys better take notice or they’re out too (Golston). The guys who have been learning the system & eager to establish themselves in the NFL are beginning to make us look like a defense that can be elite. I’d much rather see them. Though frustrated with another lost season, I trust Lovie. Once we get our franchise QB to go with Evans, ASJ and Sims, here’s to years of dominance.

No more Tebow talk please. We already have 2 terrible qbs. And people still want to add a guy to the roster that cant throw the ball down the field. Yeah, hes a good runner but in Tampa he wouldnt be running for first downs, he would be running for his life. We have running backs that cant produce behind our line, and you want to take away our limited ability to put the ball in Vjax and Evans hands. Unbelievable!

How do you coach this: Have a safety pick up a loose ball, run maybe 3 to 5 steps with it, and then lose it by fumbling it away to the other team, Mr. Barron? That’s coaching in a nutshell!

Barons tackling skills weren’t the problem so much, it was his lack of coverage skills and you know it.

In the grand scheme of things,with a depleting fan base,it won’t be such a shock when the owners either sell to Majestic Realty Group in L.A. or just move the team to London.Time to check in with the powers that be.To the owners it’s all about the money,they would be crazy to keep losing money like they are.Either scenario would be a huge money maker for them.

Idk east looked like Barron grabbed Palmer by the shoulder and twisted him up. I checked the stat sheet and he got the credit for the sack. 5tackles and a sack beats 3tackles and an assist like major wright. Facts man idk what to tell you.

I still think Barron is a bust. Notice there were no “pass break-ups” listed in his stats. 5 tackles – which probably means that someone caught the ball in front of him and he made the tackle and a sack. Whoopee. Doug Martin had a couple of good games too, no one is confusing him with Barry Sanders.
That all being said, the best DC’s in the league mold the system around their players, not the other way around.
