Alterraun Verner May Not Be Big Loss
November 9th, 2014It doesn’t look too good for Alterraun Verner playing today. The Bucs cornerback was hobbled all week and we won’t know for sure until 90 minutes before kickoff whether he is on the active list or not.
Given Verner’s play during the chain-whipping at Atlanta earlier this year, he may not be missed much. Consider the numbers dug up by Tom Bassinger of the Tampa Bay Times.
#Bucs CB A. Verner doubtful for tomorrow vs. #Falcons. In Wk 3 blowout, he thrown at 5x, allowed 5 catches for 109 yds, including 40 yd TD.

Of course, Verner — who Joe thinks will turn it around at some point — was one of many big-moneyed free agents hand-picked by overlord of football operations Lovie Smith. None of which have set the world on fire.
Yet. But they sure make Bucs fans want to throw their season tickets into a bonfire.

Trust me….we will miss Verner……Butler?…..I hope he succeeds but don’t think so.
We really need to score a lot of points today…..

Out of all the failed free agent signings verner has shown the most promise. Obviously that is not saying much when Johnson, mccown, EDS and Collins have been colossal failures.
Lovie knows talent just not football talent.

Hold L&L accountable for these signings…..I really can’t understand how the local media ,or why the local media, is focusing on all these individal players instead of holding L&L accountable….shame on the local media

That’s rather depressing news when one stops to think this guy was brought in to basically replace Revis (and free up some cap room so Lovie could instruct Licht to spend all of it). Now we’re reading we probablyvwon’t miss this big name free agent, Revis replacing, bad hammy, floppy hat wearing CB. Ah well at least Bucs fans have lowered expectations, so we’re ready for whatever happens today.

Leonard Johnson will lock down Roddy White and Julio Jones.
We’re safe guys.
Go Bucs!

The bucs will not be relevant until Lovie is gone.

Fire Lovie ..hire… Kevin Sumlin

Any truth to the rumors Lovie invited Sean Glennon to be honorary team captain today

Verner didn’t play any worse than any other member of the team in the first 4 weeks or so. They all stunk because preparation by the coaching staff was very poor. When the season started this team wasn’t even close to being ready to play.
The coaching staff was shuffling players in and out on a new system that nobody knew while L&L continued to play “lets make a deal” even as the season started.
Once the players finally knew who was playing what position and gradually started learning their assignments things improved
The coaches also took a while to figure out their assignments which contributed to all this.
The entire team timetable got pushed back 4-6 games
The second half of the season should tell much more of what he have

Joe
Does it really matter in the DBs, the no names play as well as most names so far this year except for Banks coming along.

Local media ,collectively as sold out for free ham sandwiches @ One Buc….kinda like a burglar throwing a piece of meat to the guard dog while the home is ransacked…shame on the media for diverting attention to the players instead of L&L….SHAME…
