I generously gave them a C. But you too above me are right. I take that back. I’ll give them a D.
Then again there were those on the open thread that thought we should all be pleased because they looked like they we’re improving. Never taking into consideration that they were playing the Browns and not the Patriots.
If this team has to play a 1/2 decent team they will lose every time and it won’t be pretty or nearly as close as the Browns game.
I feel 100% better knowing what percentage of the fans (that think they are smarter than the coaches and the GM of a pro team) think that the defense is playing poorly. . . . .talk about a scientific poll. S M H
Bucs D earned a D today, they let the Browns move the ball all too well and everyone knows if the Bucs did manage to take a 23-22 lead late by scoring a TD and missing the 2 pointer, the D would let Hoyer march down the field for a winning FG and if the Bucs made it 25-22 the Browns would score a winning TD to win it…. This team is not capable of closing out a game and its coaching staff hold no one accountable all the ingredients for a bad team; the worst in the NFC and probably right down there with the Jets, Jags and Raiders for most pathetic franchise in the NFL. I am pretty sure these 4 will have the top 4 picks in next springs draft and the Bucs will probably lose tie breakers and go 4th so that whoever they really covet will slip through there fingers despite all the tanking they have done in losses to the Rams, Vikes, Saints and now the Browns….
The Tampa Bay coaches must feel safe with their job security so they are just going to let all the slackers on the roster hang themselves with inept play on the field and then use them as a shield offseason and promise to start anew with a new set of characters next season, otherwise I think we’d have seen more benchings and perhaps a few cuts (and not just players, the special teams coach is really earning a good scapegoat title with Lovie and Lovie will probably make him a sacrificial lamb this offseason along with half this rotten roster; otherwise he would have been fired by now!)………
Bucs defense gave up Just 2 touch downs. One after they made a redzone stop, only extended by a special teams mishap.
And why are you guys trying to bash the Browns? Their offense is 16th in league in pts per game. Averaging 23.3 pts per game. Better average than the likes of the Bengals, lions, 9ers, panthers, and bears. Our defense held them just below their average.
By comparison the Bucs offense is 27th in league with a measly 19 pts per game. We couldn’t reach our average on offense and we held them below their average on defense.
Basically Joe, Joe Dunn always complains that we think that we know better than the coaches. Poll or no poll. He’s trying to say the poll is meaningless because we don’t shyte. Which is typical of him.
@Joe…exactly. This is why I asked Joe Dunn why does he even bother with the poll or continue to read our comments seeing how like he said “that think they are smarter than the coaches and the GM of a pro team” the poll and our comments are meaningless to him. Because after all according to him our opinions don’t matter, and the coaches and GM know more than us.
It just makes no sense for someone to come to a blog site if all they care about is what the coaches have to say and your comments and mine are meaningless to him compared to them. I can get coach speak all over the net. I come here to read your opinions and many others. I have no idea why someone like Joe Dunn comes here. Do ya get my drift? I have a few in me, so I hope I made my point without being too redundant.

I gave them a D because on too many plays we let them either make a first down (third and 16 from their four yard line) or score (Number 21 leaving his jock strap on the field). These are but examples.
For some reason the special teams didn’t let them run back a punt or kickoff but that is about the only thing they did right.
Glennon was really bad, he look dazed or on something. Also could you explain why on almost every play they took it almost to delay of game penalty?
Browns are a decent team. I don’t care what perception is of them, the Browns aren’t as terrible as everyone seems to think. Obviously they aren’t going to compete for the super bowl or anything, but they are a far better football team than the Bucs are at this point.
Decent to me means an average team. A good team is above that and great is above good. We are bottom feeders like the raiders and jags. Browns are a tier of two above us. We got stomped by a bad team (Falcons) and we beat a good team (steelers). But that all really doesn’t mean anything. This thread is about grading the defense. And the defense didn’t do a bad job today. They weren’t great by any means but they werent the reason we lost. There were games where the defense lost us games. This is not one of those games. Only Glennon lovers will say the defense gave up too many points, but that’s because they are trying to cover up the terrible qb they call the future.
As the poll shows most fans think the defense was a “c” or above. Only the few Glennon fans left voted d or lower. Bcause if the Bucs defense doesn’t get a shut out their boy will never get another win.
Trubucfan22…good points especially about the Glennon fans. SteveK being the biggest one is nowhere to be found on site. I’ve looked high and low for him on every thread. He’s nowhere to be found. I was only MGM because he couldn’t be as bad as everyone was making him out to be in the offseason. Robert9 same thing nowhere to be found. Why do they go into hiding?

Any grade above a D against the Browns offense (and their line) is utterly ridiculous.
November 2nd, 2014 at 8:27 pm
I gave them a D because there were too many Browns receivers wide open, a major reason for the loss.
