Bucs DL Will Gholston got a scolding from Lovie Smith after his penalty on a field goal gave the Browns a first down.

It is hard to win in the NFL.

It is hard to win on the road in the NFL.

It is nearly impossible to win on the road in the NFL when your special teams yaks up 14 points.

That’s the mountain the Bucs needed to overcome today as the Bucs special teams cost them the game.

Need a blocked field goal? Yup, the Bucs can do that.

Need a first down off a penalty on a made field goal? Yup, the Bucs can do that.

Need a blocked punt to set up short field position for the go-ahead score? Yup, the Bucs can do that.

And they gave all three to the Browns.

Early in the game, Bucs guard Logan Mankins alowed Browns lineman Billy Winn to vault him and blocked a Bucs field goal attempt. More on that later.

Later, Will Gholston got flagged for offsides when he jumped the gun on a Browns field goal and gave Cleveland a first down that led to a touchdown. Gholston literally got poked in the chest by Lovie Smith’s finger for that.

Then late in the game, the Bucs allowed a blocked punt that let the Browns take the lead for good. Mike James was the goat there.

The Bucs defense showed up. Mike Evans showed up. Bpbby Rainey showed up.

The Bucs’ special teams? They played with their heads up their arses today, and it cost the team a win.

Wasn’t Casillas a special teams guy?

Special Teams get a F. Offense a D and defense a D-. Can we at least see some C’s for these units this year? Mediocre is an achievement for us now.

Another fine job by Coach O’Shea. Rich Bisaccia is a football neurosurgeon by comparison…he’ll even Schiano’s buddy, the original ‘pornstache’ could manage simple schemes and X & Os.

Mike Evans a man amongst boys today…. only if Glennon could throw a deep ball

A scolding by Lovie Smith. Yeah, right. I saw the poke in the chest he gave the idiot. That will really teach him. How about fining him for stupidity. Watch the effing ball and then go on the snap. You cannot give up that penalty. Cost us the game in my opinion but preserves our pick of the FSU rocket scientist with an arm and legs

Enough bumbling Buc blunders to last a lifetime. If there was’nt some humor to the futility it would’nt be worth watching.

Defense played well. The Browns actually have a decent offense. We shut down their run game, held them from any long drives. The TD scores they got were on short field possessions. Yes they did give up some big plays and some big third downs, but you can’t expect any defense to shut out the other team. And you especially can’t expect the Bucs defense to pitch a shut out. The NFL today isn’t geared that way. The NFL is set up for the offenses to put up a lot of points. He fact our offense continues to be a bottom feeder is pathetic.

I won’t blame the defense even a little bit. Our offense had plenty of opportunities to win the game. They fell on their face. Special teams are what caused the defense to be put into tough situations. Can’t blame the defense for ST screw ups. And yes even though gholston is a defender that was a ST screw up.

This team is not even deserving of a following on sites like this one. No offense Joe. You guys do a great job. Sorry you have to cover such a crappy team.

You know, why don’t L&L make a statement and relieve the Special Teams coach of his duties to send a message to the whole team. Right now everyone knows they can get a pass for poor performance as everyone is guilty and L&L are not gonna fire themselves so how making a statement by literally sacking the guy who is supposed to have the special teams ready??? This game is the 2nd worse showing of Bucs “special needs” teams only outdone by the Lamb fiasco which was worse because it was @ home. Joe: maybe someone should have a Vegas inquiry into the betting habits of relatives of anyone associated with the “special” teams; perhaps someone is making sure that their retiorement fund is getting a bump via betting on the money line against the Bucs….

And remember we missed a FG did we not? So in the end we had to go for the TD anyway. Or 3 in automatic. FG range would have won it. But that is the same as people saying every other score was in the bag too.

I like the way the new part return guy almost fumbled on a fair catch but he’s better than EP. although we finally did start to drive on the other side of the 20 which is an improvement I have to admit
