Blocked Field Goal On Mankins
November 2nd, 2014Every small mistake is magnified if it costs points. And Logan Mankins make a ghastly Pop Warner mistake today that very likely cost the Bucs three.
Early in the game, Tampa Bay lined up for a field goal when behemoth Browns defensive lineman Billy Winn hurdled the Bucs’ offensive line right over Mankins and blocked the kick.
Mankins never saw what happened. He was looking down coming out of his block, maybe the worst thing an offensive lineman can do. Had Mankins been looking up as he should have, which is taught to toddlers looking to play football, he could have drilled Winn in midair.
Instead, it cost the Bucs three.
That’s not what Joe expects from a longtime All-Pro veteran.

Just saw a replay of that play on tv. That was too easy over Mankins, what was he thinking in that situation?

Mankins has played exactly like a guy who doesn’t want to be here. Probably still crying over being separated from his soul mate Tommy.
Where was ASJ today? Good thing we traded Tim Wright.

Great trade Lovie

I actually thought that Mankins would be the best lineman on our O-Line. LOL. What a fool I am. SMH.

Even with those 3 points, we still lose. Bigger issue is our qb is garbage.

@Tru our coach is garbage aswell

Patriots look great without him. Stole a 4th and Tim Wright who is still having a better year than ASJ with limit playtime. Can we permanently block New England’s phone number at One Buc Place?

Belichik knows what he’s doing.
He makes the tough call on guys all the time. And there’s always some sucker waiting to take the NE scraps.
I’m sure Mankind would take back-up money to get back there.

Patriots take players from Tampa and revitalize their career; the Pats sending players to Tampa is like taking someone to see Doctor Kavorkian….. Well its gonna be interesting to see if Mankins owns up to his bad play; he allegedly is a stand up guy in the locker room but Christ; those leadership qualities are not translating to good ball play.

Bucs catch the “falling knife” in Mankins…cough up a pick and their best TE while paying Mankins high dollar contract. Awesome.

Mankins will be asked to re-do his deal. He’ll refuse and will be cut in the offseason.
Complete waste of Wright and one of the top 100 picks in the draft

Yes on Mankins but the reason they were rushing up the middle so hard was because Murray lick the ball so low. He got the ball up and out on the long one that came up short. Why did the Bucs cut their great kicker?

Please tell me that Lovie doesn’t get a pass on this year? I say we start ALL OVER next year with some fresh new thinking NFL minds. The last two hires have been hideous as Tkras would say. I would try and lure a true offensive mind to Tampa, probably from the college ranks. This team just reaks of past glory gone bad. Damn you Chip Kelley!

Mankins acted like the field goal is automatic, no blocking necessary.
I don’t know if our team has miserable free agent scouting or if we have a coaching staff that cannot get any production out of them. McDonald and sometimes Lansanah are the only ones producing. Johnson gets pushed around easily. Collins is horrible.
I don’t trust Lovie with the top 3 pick in the draft we are surely headed for.
And if you’re thinking the answer is to replace Glennon and other middle-packers at their position for the answer, remember this: beggars can’t be choosers.

50 yard plus field goals should only be made at the end of game. with all the new rules favoring offense, defense cant be depended on to save games, with
14 or less offensive points.most everything improved about offense except
quarterback play.need offense capable of scoring 24 points on its own on any given Sunday.
