Celebrating Success
October 29th, 2014It’s not all doom and gloom with your beloved Buccaneers.
Tampa Bay rookie kicker Patrick Murray can ball. The kid’s got a leg. He’s 3-for-3 this season from 50+ yards.
You can’t beat that.
Connor who?
Murray, when you chat with him, makes it clear he might be the most confident dude on the planet. Just want you want in a kicker. (Check out this new video interview of Murray.)
Listed at 5-7, 182 pounds, Murray comes from a Gaelic Football background. And Joe really likes that. That sport is one of the dirtiest and nastiest on the planet. Hopefully, it will never happen, but Joe would be very interested to see how Murray approaches tackling an opponent.

That picture shows you what a monster Demar Dotson is. Murray’s elbow is as high as Demar’s, ummm, groin. Crazy.

Aint that a kick in the grass. At least the Bucs can score three points when they can’t get any farther than just inside the opponent’s 40 yard line.

You know, Lovie, just when I think you couldn’t possibly be any dumber, you go and do something like this…and totally redeem yourself!
Go Bucs! I gotta get my season tickets!

Yep. Until he misses a field goal. …. Everyone will bash me too and pack his bags for him to shipped out of town

Well it’s good to know that we have a good kicker when we need one. That’ll probably be sometime in 2016 when once again we can play some meaningful games.
At least he gets to learn his craft under absolutely no pressure. This team is so far away from the promised land that a kicker will have no impact this year, and maybe next. But I’m an optimist. Go 2016 Bucs!

Living in the home town of Connor Barth….I was very skeptical about letting him go….but was willing to give L&L the benefit of the doubt on the younger/cheaper kicker….after all, they were in camp with both of them.
On this player…they may have got it right…..time will tell if when the pressure is on.
His only miss hit the sidebar….

I thought the same thing when I saw that pic. I didn’t realize Dotson was so tall.

Once Barth rolled the dice and played basketball ( I know, I know…for charity )… The new regime rightfully moved on. I ‘m shocked they kept Koenen at his bloated salary, however. Kickers come and go…Matt Bryant was a good Buc for years prior to another one of Dom&Dommer’s prized free agent acquisitions…Mike Nugent. Dom’s resume gets more soiled by the day. Matt Millen looks like Ron Wolf by comparison.

Looking back I really can’t believe we were debating Barth being cut as if the FG kicker was going to be consequential to team success this year. Effin awesome!

He trajectory is way too low on his longer kicks. All NFL kicker appear to have a strong leg when they power it low. You can get away with it in college but once the pros see this they will block it every time. After 7 yard the ball should be 9 feet minimum in the air and his kicks are coming out 6 1/2 to 7 1/2 feet high. We should have never gotten rid of Barth. It has cost the team1-2 games already this season.
