Moving Mike Glennon

The one thing you cannot call Bucs starting quarterback Mike Glennon is mobile. Oh, he’s not a total totem pole. He can move a little bit in the pocket.
But moving the pocket for Glennon? That’s different. But that is just what Emory Hunt of “Football Gameplan” suggests the Bucs should do.

We all just witnessed a man far less mobile than Glennon set an NFL record for touchdown passes. If our O-Line would step up, we wouldn’t need to have this debate. The idea of a mobile QB is understandable but not absolutely necessary. Give this kid some consistent protection and an offense with some rhythm and he can get the job done. Or move the pocket around and force the square peg into a round hole.

I’d only add one thing to your take. Some receivers who can hang onto the ball. I’m not just talking about VJAX…ASF has also had some very costly drops.

I guess Bucs fans will never get to know the potential of Mike Glennon. I mean an immobile QB, a dink and dunker, a cannonless cannon, a stuck in cement shoes figure, a giraffe and pencil neck geek, a bald headed beaker all behind a crappy to date O line, and on and on from the still irrelevant anti MGM. Sure they’ve softened their criticism a bit in case they are made to look like fools. So the jury is still out on if MG sucks a little or a lot or not at all. Backup or backup pretender. For some I hope it does’nt take too long to come to a conclusion on is he or is he not the Bucs future franchise QB, aka “the cannon”. I agree, it’s a tough decision to come to.

Why must you deride Peyton so much? He’s a HOF….oh wait you’re talking about Glennon. I’m sure you can understand the momentary confusion generated by your criteria.

Glennon finished last year with 19 TDs 9 Int’s and a QB rating of 83.9
Manning finished his rookie year with 26 TDs and 28 Ints a rating of 71.2 in 3 more games.
I’m not foolish enough to claim MGM is the next Manning. Simply saying that if people wish to hurl all the insults based on physical appearance and geekiness Manning is the most comparable physical match for Glennon.
Do we think Peyton’s rookie year Colts were worse than MGM’s rookie year Bucs as a team? That could explain the difference.
Their rushing stats are also comparable.
I’m not a member of the MGM. Just saying as judged by the scoreboard/stats people who are writing off Glennon are perhaps even more ignorant than the MGMers.
Bottom line: The kid deserves a freaking chance!!! At the end of this year I’ll have more of a judgement about MGM. Right now I simply maintain an open mind.

Qbs taken in round 1 in the famed 1983 QB Draft… the other dud was Todd Blackledge… I’d say Marino, Kelly, and Elway turned out okay though.

I wouldn’t put Glennon in the Jake locker, Christian ponder category he’s clearly better than that but some of you people really still believe Glennon is a franchise quarterback wow. Atleast the one thing I thought everyone agreed on was lovie lies. Seriously I would assume if you come to this site know enough about football to know that it doesn’t matter of your line sucks or not, somebody with nfl quarterback credentials would have said it by now. He’s not even better than Miami quarterback. It’s just been up for debate for too long which means he’s not that guy he’s just the best we got sorry of like mark Barron and D Goldson, they aren’t good enough but there’s no one better on this roster to replace them

Take all of your points. Time will tell with Glennon. My point is not that he is going to be a “franchise” QB but all the smack about his appearance and immobility is irrelevant. If he could play consistently like he did in Pittsburgh he could reach Brad Johnson/Trent Dilfer level.
If we ever win another SB I won’t be criticizing the QB for his looks or lack of mobility. Peyton Manning is a QB genius but lets face it…he too is an immobile pencil necked geeky looking dude. He simply has the brain, anticipation and arm to put the ball where it needs to be.
If Glennon fails it won’t be his gawky looks or pencil neck that does him in.
