Lavonte David And Teddy Bridgewater
October 24th, 2014Long before players come to the NFL, they were high school players (with rare exceptions). That includes Lavonte David and Teddy Bridgewater.
The outside linebacker and the rookie quarterback for the Vikings actually played high school football together down at Miami Northwestern. It was there, David said today, it was clear Bridgewater would play on football’s highest levels.
“Yeah, I was a senior when he was a freshman,” David said of Bridgewater. “I knew him. He was a young, humble kid. From the time he was there, we always knew he was going to be a superstar in the making. Great kid, quiet, humble, like I said, hard worker. I knew him quite a bit. I know him real well.
“Just his poise, how he took command in the huddle,” David said about what makes Bridgewater special. “I saw him my senior year when I was leaving out and then we got the chance to watch their spring game and all the old guys came back and watched him. We knew that he was going to be the next star of our high school.”
Still, this is the NFL and Bridgewater is a rookie. We all know how well the Bucs shut down quarterbacks with limited experience (coughAustinDaviscough).
The Bucs have done a lot of yapping about how they have learned and turned a corner, and how they know what they are doing wrong and are correcting things. Well, demonstrate it. Make a rookie quarterback pay behind a porous offensive line.
Bucs fans have heard talk ever since Chucky was jettisoned. How about something novel and put production to words?

“The Bucs have done a lot of yapping about how they have learned and turned a corner”…. I missed that quote.
Joe, who said that?

If the Bucs can’t put this QB on the ground, then they are no better than the Florida Gators.

I hope Gerald McCoy sacks teddy bridgewater often!
I give Gerald mccoy permission to help teddy get up after each sack! this is the only situation I give GMC permission to
help anyone in a purple jersey get up!!!
GMC knock teddy to the ground often!

Yeah I think we can put the Austin Davis jokes to rest, that kid is looking legit.

Bridgewater will get reacquainted with Lavonte on Sunday real quick after Gerald fails to bring him to the ground for fear of hurting him. Or, maybe after he rolls to his left only to get by MJ who’s stuck on his block like brown on $hit!

Heck, let David blitz his High School chum and then help him up. Do that about five times and maybe we will have a chance with Josh back on the field. Eventually Teddy will be a much better QB than Glennon.

@joe
Austin Davis has looked better then Mike Glennon against better teams and worse supporting cast. Wish he was here.
