Da’Quan Bowers will sit for two games after getting pinched by the NFL.
The official line is a two-game suspension for performance enhancing drugs. NFL Network reporter Ian Rapoport offered more.

This is the last year of Bowers’ Bucs rookie contract. Joe suspects there won’t be any tears shed when he becomes a trivia question answer in a matter of months.

This does not come as a surprise. His awesome play on the field told me he had to be on some type of performance enhancer. He will be sorely missed and opposing QBs will sleep better for the next two games

So Lovie was evaluating the steriod version of Bowers. He Did throw Meredith 3 feet with that old Reggie White move. He shood of got cut in the off season along with Dotson, Leonard Johnson, Keith Tandy, Luke Stocker, and everbody riding the pine. Foster aint mean enuff to play mike and he doesnt get off blocks. Gholston got 1 move on the pass rush (his famous bull rush) please show him something else. Nobody on the whole team can win a one on one battle consistantly.

That unfortunately cannot be empirically proven but I like to believe that if Marinelli didn’t keep him then he didn’t show enough as a football player to remain. However, if someone like Buc1987 is making personnel decisions then you the man’s ability to play football is secondary to the company he keeps in his private life.
You are right that plenty of great college football players were terrible pros and no one ever accused Sam of being great before he opened the closet door. What we will never really know is how good or bad this kid can be as a pass rusher because people’s prejudices will affect the evaluation process in all kinds of ways.
I still think he could be more effective than the hot garbage that passes for defensive end pass rush on this sht hole Bucs team right now.

DallasBuc not at all and that was my point when I said we’ll see if he gets picked up by the 30 other teams. Two teams let him go for a reason and I don’t think it had any bearing about what he does in his private life.
I did however question his coming out at the time, right before the draft. I think he was seeking attention from his “fellows” within the community. I’m sure there were quite a few Michael Sam jersey’s sold even before he made the team.
The one thing I am surprised about is how come he hasn’t contacted his lawyers claiming discrimination. I thought for sure that was coming down the pike. I guess not, but who knows. It could still happen.
As far as me. I’ll continue to live in my happy little shell and not accept the normalcy Hollywood and TV has made it out to be. The more the crank it out as normal the more I’ll reject it. It has nothing to do with religion either. I’m not very religious. I have relatives that are gay, two of them. They’ve heard my stance, and surprisingly they understand where I’m coming from. We get along just fine and I’m pretty sure they don’t think of me as homophobic.(easy cop out word to label someone to try and make them feel wrong for thinking the way they do) I have my beliefs and they have theirs. It’s as simple as that.
To me “straight” means normal. I wish the best for everyone in America no matter what they believe. It’s a common misconception about us conservatives.
We’re not racists, we’re not bigot’s, we’re not anti-women and we’re not anti gay. We want everyone to prosper. United we stand.
Oh well I’m done with this banter. I just felt I had to explain myself a little further as to where I was coming from. Sam was drafted in what the 7th round? He was a long shot to begin with.

Buc1987- on the matter of what is “normal” it is very clear that you and I will disagree so no point in rehashing it. Sam’s decision not to hide who he is for the sake of straight people and to his own detriment was not done so he could file a lawsuit. That’s just ridiculous and as you now can see also untrue. I am not one of those people that tries to silence differing points of view and have called many people out on this site for trying to do that sht to me when I dared suggest that McCown, Johnson and Collins aren’t the answer. So while we tend to agree on how poorly the Bucs have been run since the Lovie era began it doesn’t look like we are going to agree on this particular social issue that up until now has nothing to do with my terrible favorite football team. All that being said I absolutely wish Sam the best and hope that he gets every opportunity that he deserves as a football player only and not as an activist to prove his ability to play in this league. Everything that I have heard him say indicates that is all he is after as well. And whether Sam is considered in Tampa or not it still doesn’t change the fact that Michael Johnson cannot rush the passer.
