Props to CBS-TV for an extensive feature on the team behind the Buccaneers, the equipment and operations crew, and how they plan, prepare and execute a Bucs road game.
Among the interesting nuggets is Lovie Smith insisting all linemen travel in first class.

As a team i think everyone sits together, I would never show favoritism among the ranks. Distention and jealous-nous can happen, especially for a 1-4 team.

Thanks for posting the video Joe. Makes sense that the lineman get the big 1st class seats. Whoever earns a gameball the week before should also get one of the seats up front as well. The logistics behind each road trip is a lot more complicated than most people would think; I thought everything was handled by a travel secretary and a couple of assistants ala George Catanza on Seinfeld…
The Bucs of today definitely fly better than the Creamsicle Bucs! Man I remember someone did a story several years back about how cheap Hugh “The Screw” Culverhouse was; his traveling secretary definitely did not use United (they used a much less expensive charter service), and I am pretty sure the flight was no frills and would make SouthWest or JetBlue look like a 1st class ride on the Concorde. Hell Hugh just used to charge the players for using the phone at training camp or hotels on the road and for the sodas they drank at One Buc. He also reportedly made Buc players go to the “will call” window to get their Super Bowl tickets so that they could not resell them for profit and perhaps get a refund himself if they did not get their duckets… What a stingy SOB….
