“It Looks Like He’s All Alone”
October 9th, 2014The Bucs’ miserable, 30-plus-points-a-game defense still has its pair of standouts in Gerald McCoy and Lavonte David.
Man, Joe feels for those two.
They’re just not getting enough help.
David has drawn the attention for a former NFL linebackers coach himself, Pat Kirwan of CBSSports.com and SiriusXM NFL Radio.
Kirwan is in disbelief when he considers the Bucs defense but considers David to a shining star in a black hole. “It looks like he’s all alone.”
Prickly Pete Prisco and Kirwan break down all things Bucs-Ravens in the CBS Sports video below. In a shocker, a Bucs victory is predicted by on of them.
Enjoy!

What they ignore is the Bucs had back to back to back road games. If that’s not tougher, I don’t know what is. The Bucs should play a better game defensively here, just for the fact they’re not playing against Drew Brees and some trigger finger refs in the Superdome. I think they win this game.

Lavonte=Junior Seau in his prime. Fast. Smart. All over the place. Tackle after tackle. Stud. Good character on/off the field. Hopefully he gets a ring though.

I can’t wait to get Lavonte some help at LB position.
Also, could probably use another safety.

Perhaps getting Mason Foster back will help also. Recall that Dane Fletcher was yanked during the Saints game for passing downs and that David handled the signal calling in the dome as it appears that Lovie has lost confidence (and rightfully so IMHO) in Fletcher thus it is not a reach to think that the return of Mason Foster ought to be a big upgrade to the D as he is probably the best player on that side of the ball behind McCoy and David. So Prisco & Company like the Bucs: perhaps the Bucs could win, there are a lot of 3 to 4 point home dogs this week (Tampa, Miami, Lambs, Texans, and Bills): I guess if you were to pick one of these teams to pull the mild upset, it might as well be the Bucs as the Ravens are not an offensive juggernaut like the Saints or Falcons in their domes….

i would hate to think how bad the scoring against the Buc’s would be if it were not for the two mentioned.

Lansannah/foster/lvd > casillas/foster/lvd>lansannah/fletcher/lvd
I think the right trio will be on the field for the first time this year. NCB And FS is what bothering me in That defense now that I got proof that Barron can play if the scheme fits him
October 9th, 2014 at 10:23 am
It looks like one thing everyone can agree with is Lovies def can’t stop anyone from scoring points.

@bucsqcity
LVD weakside
Foster strong side
Lasagna mlb

Did you see him blow the coverage on the Cadet td? He bit inside even though he had help there. A 4th string RB worked him. He’s played really well, but we can’t win when our stars aren’t consistent.
October 9th, 2014 at 10:30 am
Our safety position is overpriced, for that kind of money you should be good in any scheme, so worried about giving up the big play we give up everything else underneath
October 9th, 2014 at 10:30 am
@db55 i think its worth trying.
I really like Lansannah. Big strong scary dude. Gives us back somme aggro in the defense.
October 9th, 2014 at 10:31 am
@mark
Shut up there will be no bad mouthing LVD here.
October 9th, 2014 at 10:32 am
@mark
Everyone gets beat sometimes. LJ and Goldson are the only ones that get beat consistently in that defense
October 9th, 2014 at 10:43 am
@BucsQcCity
One thing to get beat physically, another thing to get fooled.

Did you guys read the piece on Lansanah (NFL.com)? I didn’t know he was 29 and had endured so much in his quest to finally get a shot. He was even out of football for one year and cut numerous times. I’ve been saying it since pre-season. David, Foster, Lansanah. Good group there.

@DB55
There you go again with that spell check. (LASAGNA) LMFAO.

McCoy , David and verner are definite keepers/studs. There are a few good other players but they need more studs than I originally thought. Lavonte does look like a one man wrecking crew out there. I feel bad for him too. Pay the man

@rayrice
I think I like lasagna better. 🙂

Iran pay the man when we are able too. Think his yr is next yr?

Comparing Lavonte to Seau is shooting too low. I think Lavonte can be the best Bucs player ever, even ahead of Brooks. He’s already elite bordering on best at his position and he’s not even in his prime. Can’t imagine how good he’ll be in 3 more years.
October 9th, 2014 at 12:03 pm
@bucrightoff
I didnt say he was going to be Seau. I said hes playing like Seau did in his prime. Amazingly its only his 3rd season. Hes not even in his prime. Seau was a beast in his prime. So in essence im even giving David higher praise.
October 9th, 2014 at 12:06 pm
Fletcher isn’t going to make it as MLB in this defense which is heavily reliant upon the MLB play. I think they have figured that out and they may have another spot for him more suited to his talents but that experiment didnt make it.
Foster going down was a major disruption in the defense scheme and a hinderence to LVD’s play. LVD compensated pretty good but couldnt do it all.
I hope Foster is ready to play
