“No Surgery Planned” For McCown

Josh McCown will be back on the field sooner rather than later.
Joe can hear the cheers across the Tampa Bay area, from the white sands of Clearwater Beach to the strawberry farms of Plant City.
A report this morning from Bucs beat writer and WDAE-AM 620 personality Rick Stroud delivered the news.
No change in the status of QB @JoshMcCown12. No surgery planned at this time. Getting better but most likely won’t play this week.

So will Lovie Smith stick to his guns and keep McCown as his No. 1 quarterback when he returns?
Joe can only imagine the savage chants for Gle-nnon! Gle-nnon! Gle-nnon! if McCown gets the starting nod in two weeks when the Bucs return home to face the Ravens before the bye week.
Joe wishes McCown a speedy recovery so he can effectively back up Glennon, the only starter who makes sense after an 0-3 start.

If MG8 plays well this week, there is no way Lovie would be crazy enough to insert McTurnover. The goodwill Lovie got from the Sucky Steelers would be gone as fast as McTurnover could throw an INT in the Red Zone

One game good does not prove “The Cannon” is worthy. Sorry Joe!
I like what I saw in Pittsburgh 2nd half but I don’t want to fall into a mirage. A win in New Orleans with our defense keeping us in the game should allow “The Cannon” to solidify his status.
The o-line is playing better. If Glennon collapses against the Saints, McCown deserves a second chance with the o-line showing signs of improvement.

I don’t give a rats a$$ if he gets surgery or not. Just keep him off the field and on the sideline as a QB coach like last Sunday. In the meantime lets keep enjoying “that beer” (as Demar Dotson says) and hope MG8 guides us to victory again.

Well the man did take over a team with a brand new offensive line, and several new receivers, with no OC.
Glennon should start, but McCown may not be as bad as he looked.
If we could give him some time and call a good game he might be ok.
Its likely he will have to come of the bench at some point.

Did you see McCown’s heavily wrapped thumb.
If something happens to Glennon in New Orleans you can look for Kafka to come in.
One bang on that thumb this week and McCown is done for the year.
I seriously doubt they would take that chance for 1 game.

If McCown blew the tendon out, he won’t be back for a while. I did the same thing and opted for the surgery. If his was anything like mine he probably can’t even grip the ball right now, and won’t be able to for a while, blowing that tendon leaves your thumb basically hanging off your hand and trying to grip anything with any strength, coordination or control is damn near impossible, and the surgery cure isn’t much better, especially for a guy who has to grip an odd shaped sphere for a living, as it pulls your thumb up and in towards the palm of your hand.

It had more to do the offensive line and the team overall playing better than just the QB position. Now the fans are going back and blaming game one and 3 on MCCown? McCown play in game two was way down on the list of why the Bucs lost game two. Tom B-rady didn’t forget how to play football this year.
Glennon had a decent 2nd half last week, he looked good at times and I want him to play well but hardly a reason to anoint him as the savior..

He may not be the savior but he should be the starter to find out one way or another. The last thing we need is for McCown to lead us to another 4-5 win season with no possible upside for the teams future. I have supported the Lovie hiring to date but would be happy to kick in some cash toward some billboards if Glennon is yanked.

McCown will definitely be the starter when healthy. Apparently no one in this town knows football. In the first two games the offense was so conservative it had Mike Shula envious. With the combination of the team trying to figure out the o-line and Tedford in limbo it was obvious to all watching that Arroya’s instructions was not to F up. Fast forward to the 4th game and Arroyo is finally given the green light to use his weapons and we squeak out a win. Glennon is the same QB as he has been . He’s a 50% passer with no mobility. He may get a win here and there but he will be unable to win consistently. It’s just not going to happen. I’m not a Mcciwn fan but I do know Glennon is not the answer. Our franchise QB has yet to be drafted. Wake up gooobers.

Can Glennon compete with the likes of Brees – Newton – Ryan?
Answer is simple – see you at the 2015 draft to get a real QB that can compete with these guys. Not a consolation prize.

HE THREW A BLIND INTERCEPTION ON FIRST AND GOAL. He threw away a chance at a 28 yard FG. We lost by two, and a FG is worth three.
Simple math.
He had a running game give him 150+ yards, at home, against an opposing QB who’d never started an NFL game. Instead, he MADE THE MISTAKES YOU’D EXPECT FROM A QB WHO’D NEVER STARTED AN NFL GAME and led us to 17 whopping points with that 150+ yard rushing effort behind him. At home.
And Glennon gets us 27 given 50 yards support from the running game. In Pittsburgh.

A lot of close games but with the 1st or 3rd pick in the 2015 draft the Bucs select, JAMIS WINSTON. If Licht is truly a good GM then he will get at least a 3rd for Glennon, Banks, Gholston or Barron. Trade back up into the 2nd round for two picks and select a MLB and CB. In free agency, pick up another DE and some depth players. THE BLUEPRINT!

Does anyone realistically think we are going to go to New Orleans and win? Our defense will get shredded by Brees. I think we can get pressure on him, but he is too good to take many sacks and will pick apart that Tampa 2 soft zone. Our offense will probably hang with them for a while, but ultimately won’t be able to keep up. Prediction: Saints 37, Bucs 24.

let’s just say this, the defense stands tall and has a takeaway at a crucial time or two, we do put pressure on breese, and glennon has a big day, no sacks, 300+ yards and no INT”S. we win hands down, 31-13. then what ? I mean this is not a prediction, it’s a question? does lovie stick to his guns and bring in MCcown vs Baltimore? and if he does, what do we as fans do about it? can we do anything? really I hope lovie is not so set in his way’s, that he could see that a change should be made and that the QB OF THE FURTURE IS NOW. just asking, but is lovie loyal to a FAULT, and put his handpicked QB in, despite the facts of the obvious. that is the question. and we as fans, how would we answer?

Lovie will do this EXACTLY! Glennon will be allowed to start the next 2 games against the Saints & Ravens before the bye. That gives McCown & Glennon 3 starts apiece to dissect which one performed better in their 3 starts. Let’s just say that McCown is losing already w/ a 0-3 record while Glennon is 1-0 & counting lol…I think it’s the fair thing to do & remember Glennon doesn’t have a RB running for 125+ yds or TWO down field threats as of now…mmm all logic is pointing to Glennon but Lovie is as loyal as they come so this will be interesting.
PS: Like Joe I’ve joined the MGM for the season; let’s see if he’s worth to stay or go get a QB (draft or vet trade)

Here’s the problem with Josh and don’t get me wrong I like the guy. If Josh starts it takes away a large part of the offense we just started seeing. His arm is not strong enough to make a lot of those down field throws Mike was making. Even if he gets smarter with the football he just doesn’t have the arm strength. In my opinion that handcuffs our team. I just don’t think Josh can truly run our WHOLE offense. Start Mike the rest of the season and lets see what he can do !!!!!!! GO BUCS !!!!!!!

#1 was the low kick (3 points lost by 2) that never got over 7 ft in the air that cause it to get blocked from a team who cut a clutch kicker to save money.
Dropped interception that should have won the game was #2 and the Defense No pressure on QB & not able to get off the field on mutable 3 and long and the end of the game was # 3.
I would say throwing one pick in the game even in the red zone was # 4. It was really his only really bad pick this year. They are all bad but one was uncontested by VJax, another was Kuechly great play and one was WR wrong route or miscommunication at the line. All of these while the O-line was playing awful and playing from behind trying to make something happen. Some people like QBs that just check down and are happy to lose as long as their TD to interception ratio looks good.

If lovie goes back to josh then we’re doomed and not because he sucks but it means lovie is that stubborn and stuck on playing his guy even if it means sabotaging the rest of the season. Then it would be safe to say he’s trying to tank for a quarterback

Or Lovie thinks Josh gives the team the best chance to win and it would be unfair to McCown to lose his job due to injury. It has always been Lovie’s MO to stick with his starting QB so it should come as no surprise.
People think just because they say things and others repeat it that it suddenly makes it true. That not the way reality works. You can say IMO…… and that’s fine.
