“Shame On The Steelers”
September 29th, 2014Joe mentioned earlier this morning that folks in the Steel City are ready to burn something down they are so outraged by what they considered a tank job from their beloved Steelers yesterday in a 27-24 loss to the Bucs.
TV talking heads last night were hollering loud. Newspaper articles are dripping with venom. The locals are not amused.
Consider this missive by Ron Cook of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
If you’re ranking Steelers home losses during the Mike Tomlin era, the one Sunday to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers would be the worst.
The losses to Miami last season and to Cincinnati in 2012 were more hurtful because they came late in the season and cost the team a playoff spot. The one to Oakland in 2009 also stung because the Raiders were lousy and the loss was the Steelers’ fourth in a five-game losing streak that kept them from the postseason. But the Buccaneers came in with an 0-3 record. They trailed Atlanta, 56-0, in the fourth quarter in their previous game. They are the worst team in the NFC, maybe in all of the NFL. Yet, they won, 27-24.
Shame on the Steelers.
Joe just thinks it is funny that the shoe is on the other foot. What’s surprising is the backlash being thrown at Tomlin. Apparently Tomlin, in his post-game presser, stated his team was undisciplined.
That small comment has the rabble rousers incensed because, they say, he is the one responsible.

Fans want coaches to speak the truth. But when they do, those same fans react with venom. It’s no wonder that coaches and managers never say anything interesting.

I loved the way Tomlin reacted in his press conference. You could tell he was fuming, and I sure wouldn’t want to be a Steeler this week. That being said, I really appreciated all the stupid penalties they committed yesterday.

Its Todd Hayley’s fault. That dude sucks. 3rd and 5 but he couldn’t pick it up. Uhm mr Haley your TE has more yRds than both your RB combined. Maybe throw the ball to your TE who has owned us all day. Just saying
Cuz you know the bucs can cover TEs really well.

I love the whining. And yes, Bucs fans know the routine.

Amazing how one game (in this case, against ATL) can instantly brand you the worst team in the league.
Last year, both Baltimore AND Oakland each gave up 7 TD passes during one of their games. Anybody think Baltimore was the worst team in the league at that time?
The sour grapes coming from Pittsburgh just make the victory that much sweeter.

they had like 8 15 yard penalties. lol
they sure as hell helped us win that one

Make no mistake, this wasn’t a fluke or a gift. The Bucs outplayed the Steelers when it counted, in crunch time. That can cover up for a lot of bad football when you’re able to come through in the clutch. The Bucs earned it.

It almost reads like a Tom Jones or Gary Shelton column. Always nice to read someone writing about their team that isn’t the Bucs.

Steelers mad bro.
September 29th, 2014 at 3:22 pm
@FLBoyInDallas is right. There was too much awesomeness for this to be a fluke.
My next door neighbor is a diehard steelers fan, I think the president of a local chapter. He had a Steelers flag on hanging outside all day. When I walked outside at 5:00pm, it was gone HAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA

Yesterday it was so fun to be a Bucs fan. We win at Pitt, first time ever. And all NFC South Rivals lose. In recent history, it doesn’t get much better than that as a Bucs fan. We need to find a way to get on a role here. Need to get the run game going and bash the Saints with Martin and Rainy combo.

*roll

Steelers did’nt beat themselves, the Bucs layed a team effort on them for a much needed and deserved win. Steeler fans go cry a pity party for yourselves.
September 29th, 2014 at 3:38 pm
I loved the win yesterday but let’s face it… We caught the Steelers sleeping. And who could blame them? No team would be taking the Bucs serious coming off the 56-14 drubbing by the Falcons. Afterall, that team and their defense is a joke.
We’ll see the real team this Sunday in New Orleans. The Saints definitely won’t be sleeping.

LOL.
Bob Dylan : “how does it feel?”

Well at least the Steeler OL was not blocking one another like Penn State on Saturday. LOL. If the Bucs are the worst team I the NFL and the Steelers lost at home to them, does that mean the Bucs are now power ranked at 31 and Pittsburgh at 32? Man people including myself really talk out of their ass when angry.

Of course their in an uproar. They lost to a giraffe that looked horrible all game -the last 40 seconds. If not for the Steelers offense going turtle on last drive this fanbase and self proclaimed Generals of the giraffe mob would be singing an entire different tune.
September 29th, 2014 at 4:25 pm
it’s debatable who was the better or more deserving team over 60 minutes. both teams had good, bad, and ugly moments. but for the first time since perhaps 2010 the bucs outplayed somebody in the 4th quarter of a close game. the steelers weren’t playing against air when they went 3 and out at the end, our guys got some push up front and the steelers couldn’t execute like they wanted to on the game’s most important offensive possession.

against a backup QB too!

I feel sorry for the team that plays the Steelers on Sunday. Tomlin will be on a mission….. Just like Lovey was

So I guess Ron Cook is saying that if the Steelers were in the NFC they would be the worst team in that conference after their loss?!?!? Noticed he said NFC; I guess he thinks the Bucs might be better than the Raiders, Titans and/or Jags. If I was the Jacksonville coaching staff I would float that quote in the locker room and infer that the @-hole just gave a backhanded insult to the Jags. It would be funny if the Jags gave the Steelers another L next week….
