“Our Guys Didn’t Blink”
September 28th, 2014The Bucs were in NFL hell 10 days ago. Shamed on national television and buried at the bottom of the standings and in most NFL team statistics.
Lovie Smith didn’t panic, and neither did his Buccaneers.
Speaking on the Buccaneers Radio Network after the game, Lovie called today’s thrilling upset of the Steelers “a full-degree turn.”
Under the pressure in hostile territory, Lovie said, “our guys didn’t blink.”
Yes, Lovie channeled Rays skipper Joe Maddon this week, staying calm, staying the course, and not wavering an inch in the face of mass freakout about the Bucs’ losing streak. Not that Joe expected Lovie to abandon plans for his regime, but other coaching personalities might not have stayed so calm.
Wait a minute, Joe takes that back. Lovie did waver. The offense opened up and ditched it’s ultra conservative ways.
September 28th, 2014 at 5:05 pm
Lovie has been spitt’n in their eyes for months…the players played today…
September 28th, 2014 at 5:09 pm
I swear I thought Lovie might have thought about kicking a FG on 4th and goal. Even though they didn’t score, I’m glad he didn’t chicken out with another conservative call.
September 28th, 2014 at 5:09 pm
Welcome lovie to first win as a buc..
September 28th, 2014 at 5:10 pm
Now dont bench glennon^^
September 28th, 2014 at 5:11 pm
Lovie is what we thought he was.
Go Bucs!!
September 28th, 2014 at 5:11 pm
13-3 here we come, Baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
September 28th, 2014 at 5:12 pm
This changes everything by the way.
Respect a different team and season now.
Go Bucs!!!!
September 28th, 2014 at 5:12 pm
Congrats Lovie! The boys played tough today and the game was fun to watch. Want people in the seats????? Compete!
September 28th, 2014 at 5:13 pm
Bowers’ go-go-gadget arm sack could be argued as what kept Suisam from making that FG. Just saying…
September 28th, 2014 at 5:13 pm
The G’Boy’z….should take that plane to Vegas tonight..4 hours and back on the bus…
September 28th, 2014 at 5:13 pm
Not uncommon for a team to get thumped on Thursday night football and come back with a win against a quality opponent the next week. The Bucs were victims to this phenomena twice in the past. Not saying I expected the win, I fully expected us to find a way to lose, but I did expect us to play better and make it a ballgame.
September 28th, 2014 at 5:14 pm
Mike Evans…is a WARRIOR…!
September 28th, 2014 at 5:14 pm
He let them throw and Pitt got a lot of stupid penalties and glennon was money the only credit I give lovie is poise in the dark hours. It’s not like he opted for glennon. He was forced to. And the defense still sucks. Can we cover a TE?
September 28th, 2014 at 5:17 pm
Man that just felt good, We can kiss 0-16 goodbye..
September 28th, 2014 at 5:17 pm
Michael Johnson (who?)
September 28th, 2014 at 5:18 pm
I’ll take it!! Don’t care if it was pretty but I like to win!! Go BUCS!!
September 28th, 2014 at 5:19 pm
Leveon bell bucbound once his rookie contracts up.
September 28th, 2014 at 5:19 pm
Who’s this Mike Johnson and when did he get here???
Does anyone else notice when we are in base cov 2 our Lb who should be responsible for the flat are biting on the run fake every time?
September 28th, 2014 at 5:21 pm
“Mike Evans…is the teddy bear in wilfred…!”
September 28th, 2014 at 5:22 pm
All of those people claiming Lovie is terrible and a worse coach than Schiano can finally eat a plate full of crow. Suck it losers! (at least for a week)
All of those hating on Michael Johnson, saying he couldn’t play can eat that crow too. Eat it up !
All of those hating on Vincent Jackson saying we should trade him can suck it three times. Now keep your mouths shut for a week.
September 28th, 2014 at 5:23 pm
Looks like we can draft OL in the first 3 rounds 2015
September 28th, 2014 at 5:24 pm
1 – 3 looks better than 0 – 4
September 28th, 2014 at 5:24 pm
I will definitely eat some crow….for this week.
September 28th, 2014 at 5:25 pm
still don’t want lovie
September 28th, 2014 at 5:25 pm
Good win despite the horrible coaching that is the hallmark of the Lovie Smith era.
MJ90 is looking like a world class FA bust.
A win is a win.
Now Lovie, step away from the offense, fix the defense and win back the fans!
September 28th, 2014 at 5:25 pm
Bowers had a sack, can u believe it ?
Maybe he will get hungry for more now ?
September 28th, 2014 at 5:27 pm
OMG Glennon really manned up today. The coaches adjusted. The defense, bent, but in the end didn’t break. Dick L’s defense is one of if not the most complex defenses out there so for Glennon to step up and lead HIS team to victory IN PITTSBURGH! This is unreal!
September 28th, 2014 at 5:28 pm
“MJ90 is looking like a world class FA bust.”
——
So 2 sacks and a forced fumble makes him a bust? You sir are the king of idiots.
September 28th, 2014 at 5:29 pm
Even in a win, the morons still loom large
September 28th, 2014 at 5:29 pm
We need to draft defense next year. Libebackers… another DE
September 28th, 2014 at 5:30 pm
Hawaii
Let’s remember McCown is hurt bc if he wasn’t he’d still be playing. Second, 1 of MJ sacks he was unblocked so simir down. Soloman sack was just as good. So go suck a pineapple and send one to me while you at it. Pineapple is good.
September 28th, 2014 at 5:31 pm
“Bowers had a sack”
that is an understatement. bowers had the play of the day.
September 28th, 2014 at 5:32 pm
Hawaiian… The first sack/fumble was completely unblocked. You or I could have done that.
So…one sack (1) is something we should be thrilled about?
By that logic, Bowers also deserves 8 mill a year too – is that what you’re saying?
September 28th, 2014 at 5:33 pm
MGM4Life Says:
September 27th, 2014 at 2:51 pm
I truly think the Bucs are embarrassed and even ashamed of how they played Thursday at Atlanta. I see a focused and energized team wanting to make a statement ( ala-the Seattle game last year…but for four quarters rather than one half) Hopefully they have heard the criticism, read the blogs and fan comments and they use this to inspire a win. Hopefully Pitt is taking us lightly and we come out of the gate swinging and connecting. GO BUCS!!!!!
@MGM4life…..I SALUTE YOU
September 28th, 2014 at 5:36 pm
Even if we had lost this game I was happy to see us in the redzone THROWING THE DAMN BALL. Thank you Bucs Offense, you have restored my faith.
Before todays game I read an NFL power rankings that had Pitt at #6 and us at #30. I wonder how today will affect that on Monday.
September 28th, 2014 at 5:37 pm
Mj90 is looking like a bust, Hawaiian.
September 28th, 2014 at 5:37 pm
MGM looked like a stud out the today. Poor lovie can’t evaluate talent for sheet. Yo, did mccoy get hurt in the 2nd half?
September 28th, 2014 at 5:37 pm
I like the way we fought….and we didn’t break against a very good run game.
Our pass defense is awful…..they had several drops & overthrows to wide open recievers…..
But….But….>But, how sweet it is VICTORY!!!
September 28th, 2014 at 5:38 pm
@CB Buc,
He was actually blocked by the RB if you want to get technical. He also forced a fumble. Pretty sure you or I couldn’t do that. A sack is a sack. How many did Teo Neisheim get last year? Bottom line, it’s 2 sacks, so you shouldn’t even be bringing his name up, because it makes you sound like a complete idiot.
September 28th, 2014 at 5:41 pm
What the hell is wrong with you people? He had 2 sacks and a FF in limited duty due to a high ankle sprain. A high ankle sprain normally keeps players out for weeks. But instead of sitting out and collecting a check, he goes out there and battles and comes up with 2 huge plays. If he had sat out, you’d be calling him soft. Yet, some idiots still aren’t happy. I don’t get it. You are pathetic people, and I pity you.
September 28th, 2014 at 5:41 pm
This is what a Sunday is suppose to feel like. Just 1 game though. Looking forward to next week.
September 28th, 2014 at 5:42 pm
And yes, the Solomon sack was a great play too.
September 28th, 2014 at 5:43 pm
Hawaii
You want to hug it out brother. Rejoice! We won, lol.
September 28th, 2014 at 5:45 pm
@DB55
Believe me, I’m rejoicing. I just think it’s amazing others can’t.
September 28th, 2014 at 5:45 pm
Hawaiian… The back blew his assignment, MJ walked in.
OK, two sacks. Yay! Other than that, did you even notice him? No.
We obviously disagree about what to expect from big money players – I expect consistent production at a high level. The key word is consistent.
September 28th, 2014 at 5:46 pm
Yes please pity my life…. I am a complete idiot. Easy keyboard tough guy!
September 28th, 2014 at 5:47 pm
Glennon looked like a real NFL QB today. Micheal Johnson earned his paycheck as well. Fun game! We won! Yahooooooo!
September 28th, 2014 at 5:51 pm
The chains came off the offence and that was great to see.. without that a big fat 0-4..
September 28th, 2014 at 5:52 pm
@CB Buc,
Perhaps you didn’t notice how few snaps he played. He’s playing on a high ankle sprain. Are you too stupid to understand how difficult it is to play any position, but especially DE, with that kind of an injury? He played excellent in run defense as well. He forced pressure nearly every snap he was in the game. But go ahead, you believe he played terrible. You’re an idiot, and I’m done wasting my time with morons. Go Bucs!!!
September 28th, 2014 at 5:53 pm
bridgewater looking like a real qb and not a pinocchio qb like glennon
September 28th, 2014 at 5:54 pm
Loved throwing into end zone while in the red zone No more conservative offense schemes because the rules have changed to favor the offense. On a negative note, Pittsburgh perchance for penalties and Rothesburger over throwing his receivers made a big difference. Also, what’s this about 3 delay of game penalties by the Bucs ?? That is coaching.
September 28th, 2014 at 5:55 pm
In Lovie I TRUST!
September 28th, 2014 at 5:56 pm
lurker sucks.
September 28th, 2014 at 5:58 pm
There was a little rust leftover from the chains..lol
September 28th, 2014 at 5:58 pm
Offense line showed real enthusiasm today and did a good job!
Made the difference
This should keep getting better
September 28th, 2014 at 6:00 pm
awwwwww poor rayjay
hurt your wittle lover’s feelwings?
great to have a win, but we still need a real qb, sorry to burst your bubble
September 28th, 2014 at 6:01 pm
Lurker is a Pinocchio fan or maybe just a child who loves Disney??? Get a clue.
September 28th, 2014 at 6:03 pm
you have pinocchio in your back pocket telling him to lie, tell the truth, lie, tell the truth!
September 28th, 2014 at 6:05 pm
No…I am wrong. Lets fire make lurker our new QB or QB coach since he is the authority on all things QB. SMH. Idiot!!!
September 28th, 2014 at 6:06 pm
“No…I am wrong.”
no need to read further. thanks for admitting it!
September 28th, 2014 at 6:07 pm
No lurker. I am not into that sort of thing like you. My rear is one way and that is out. But you may want to watch your comments as to not offend the sect of people who are into that life style. Idiot.
September 28th, 2014 at 6:10 pm
Yay!!! The Bucs won a game in which they played sub-par football.
Let’s all forget the first three weeks…
September 28th, 2014 at 6:12 pm
I swear, some people act like Mike Glennon is as bad as Ryan Leaf. Whether or not he’s our franchise quarterback Idk, but the guy deserves to start for the rest of the reason at the very least. He’s earned it.
September 28th, 2014 at 6:12 pm
gooooooollly gomer.
you sound like glennon looks…”idiot”
maybe you want a dang que-sa-dill-a too
http://www.imdb.com/video/hulu/vi3714121753
September 28th, 2014 at 6:13 pm
i agrre, glennon should start. he is our best hope to win. i never wanted a freeagent qb but one to be drafted.
September 28th, 2014 at 6:19 pm
This is not the day to be bashing Glennon.. Cmon Man.. Try tomorrow
September 28th, 2014 at 6:23 pm
@Soggy
Exactly right. Which leads to my issues with some of the Pinocchio posts by the Guru of all things QB.
September 28th, 2014 at 6:29 pm
This was awesome to see our bucs not be the laughing stock of the NFL, looks like that is stealers crown this week.. Glennon showed the NFL what he can do and if the bucs dont want him, well Nuff said.. at least we kissed 0-16 goodbye..
September 28th, 2014 at 6:29 pm
when you all act like he is better than he is, i am responding with reality.
he played ok. the who team did. he showed improvement as did the oline, dline, receivers, coaching.
though he gives us our best chance to win, he is not a franchise qb. we still need to draft one.
great to get a win though.
so cry all you want rayjay. your tears don’t mean sh!t to me.
September 28th, 2014 at 6:34 pm
lurkers writes…so cry all you want rayjay. your tears don’t mean sh!t to me.
Just like yours meant nothing every time you dropped the soap in the joint. That is where you got your lie no lie Pinocchio experience.
You know what? The Bucs won and I have a buzz and you are not going to be my buzz kill. So put that in your crack pipe and smoke it. loser.
September 28th, 2014 at 6:39 pm
They gave the stat on TV that big Ben was 16-2 against the NFC, make that 16-3. I think a couple more losses coming against Atlanta and New Orleans.
September 28th, 2014 at 6:43 pm
enjoy your buzz rayjay. don’t forget to scream upstairs to your mommy to get you milk and cookies while you play your madden.
September 28th, 2014 at 6:46 pm
Well since as of February of this year my Mommy is passed away, I guess I will have to cry way upstairs. You win. Hope that makes you feel really good!!!
September 28th, 2014 at 6:50 pm
Atleast we know the offense was being held back by conservative play calling and mccown, we can score and it’ll only get better but how many points can Glennon put up to make up for a horrible defense that’s going up against say…. New Orleans? I thought it was an exaggeration of the Steelers offense and big Ben
September 28th, 2014 at 6:54 pm
dude, i don’t know you
i feel fine
September 28th, 2014 at 7:02 pm
I bet you do feel fine and I don’t know you either. Truce. Like I said you win. Happy day to somber. Have a good one.
September 28th, 2014 at 7:35 pm
i will enjoy the win, like others. i am soooo glad we won’t go 0-16. the team, including glennon, still have a lot to prove.
enjoy your buzz…
September 28th, 2014 at 8:36 pm
johnson had 5 tackles, 2 sacks, and ff. i would say he showed up today. secondary needs to step up.
September 28th, 2014 at 9:43 pm
lurker, you sir are not just an embarrassment to all Bucs fans, you are an embarrassment to all decent human beings. I hope you have just had too much to drink. If not you should be ashamed of yourself. The Bucs won today get your head out of your azz and enjoy the moment !!!!!! rayjay, sorry for your loss. GO BUCS !!!!!!!
September 29th, 2014 at 1:48 am
whatever… nice judgement
a legend in your own mind, i see.
how am i to be affected? you are? maybe he’s lying, maybe not. i’ve had close people die, most have. so some anonymous poster comments about mommies and cookie and you get bent? lmao. seek couseling!
if you all can’t handle the heat, stay off the boards, or at least don’t call people out.
