Bucs Worked Out Terrelle Pryor

September 22nd, 2014
The Bucs reportedly worked out former Raiders quarterback Terrelle Pryor.

A report claims the Bucs worked out former Raiders quarterback Terrelle Pryor

Joe isn’t sure what this exactly says about Josh McCown. Or Mike Glennon. Or for Mike Kafka for that matter. But it sure is an antennae-raiser.

Per BSPN’s Field Yates, who has strong sources, the Bucs worked out a quarterback today. Not just any quarterback, but no less of a quarterback than Tattoo Terrelle Pryor.

Joe doesn’t even remember Pryor playing for the Seahawks. Joe does remember how he got suspended from the other “Bucks,” the Buckeyes of Ohio State, for getting free tats, but magically found himself eligible for the Sugar Bowl where the Buckeyes beat Arkansas and erstwhile NFL quarterback Ryan Mallett (“SEC… SEC… SEC… “). Pryor won MVP of that Sugar Bowl.

Pryor underperformed so badly with the Raiders that he actually lost his gig to former Penn State quarterback Matt McGloin.

Unless the Bucs were thinking about converting Pryor to running back or fullback or some other position, why would the Bucs waste time looking for a quarterback? That is, if McCown isn’t placed on the injured reserve list.

  6. lue0615 Says:

This guy is garbage just like the two we have here

  7. Trubucfan22 Says:

Pryor actually has an arm he is willing to use. Glennon might have a common but he’s too gun why to use it. Pryor is a playmaker and would instantly upgrade what we have at qb.

  8. lue0615 Says:

    Should of drafted a QB

  9. BucIt941 Says:

If this come to be, it would be a Tedford project. Pryor has all the talent and tools just needs the coaching. Tedford would have to believe he can harness that combination and eliminate the mental mistakes he tends to use to make him a competitive QB.

Talent and skill set alone i think he is a bit better then MGM or McClown. Witts? well probably not.

Pryor reminds me of a poor mans JFro. Well with out the “staring down Receivers” thing. Big Arm, Takes chance to make big plays, Very Mobile & Athletic, can extend plays. Needs major work on accuracy and Mechanics

  13. ShutTheBucUp Says:

Wow. Desperate times indeed… Go with Glennon, he showed much more promise than Pryor last year.

What? No Bobby Boucher try out for water boy? Oh no!!!! We suck again!!!

  15. Westsidebucsfan Says:

This season has gone from bad to worse. Week 4 and I can’t wait to get done with this season. Bad part is, I actually tbink signing Pryor makes him the second, if not best QB on the roster. BUCS better trade the farm next year to draft a franchise qb.

  16. Sapp, STFU Says:

I wish we drafted jimmy Garappolo

We would be better off with Richard Pryor! The Bucs fans would at least laugh and have access to mind altering drugs. Speaking of I need to check the medicine cabinet for next Sunday. If I do not find my blood pressure pills by then I might as well look for another way to calm down.

  22. Teacherman777 Says:

Did you guys see how calm and slow everything looked when Glennon was in the game?

He is a Zen master or something.

Glennon is like Neo in the matrix. He can bend time and space!

  25. SteveK Says:

I welcome the potential addition of Pryor, as the competition will only make Glennon respond.

Glennon has poise and size. He is like a sniper, big rifle, still in one place , and deadly accurate.

Find a way for Glennon to play, and by all means bring in any QB worthy of the spot.

  26. Bucfan4life Says:

Westside they will have the number 1 overall pick in the draft. Glazers will just have to tell Lovie he has to take a QB and we have to hope they choose the right one!

  27. PRBucFan Says:

One gets the feeling, you could pull a dozen fans outta the stands at RayJay October 12th, that could run this team better than it is now. I thought NFL teams were termed as PROFESSIONAL organizations? Every day since September 7th, we’ve seen how this is NOT the case at One Buc Place. It’s beginning to look like a continuation of the 2013 season. How many games have we lost in a row now?
Everything from talent evaluation to the idiots running the sound & video boards at RayJay….they seem to be getting more clueless with each passing day.

  41. sam Says:

This website is so negative, so what if there looking a quarterback? Hate too break it to you joe but there aint very many peyton manning or tom bradys walking the street. Bring the guy in he cant be as bad as McClown or Glennon for Pete sake!

  42. Bucsfan47 Says:

When is the last time the Bucs ever had a QB? Doug Williams?

Every big name quarterback has gone on to lead playoff teams or win superbowls (Williams, Testaverde, Young, Dilfer[gag]).

I say we try to fleece the pats and get Jimmy G., or at the very least put some feelers out. The probably is that he’s a rookie and I don’t know if he would be able to do well. We need a playmaker…..someone even Russel Wilson-esque (McCarron?), and I just don’t know that someone is available, and if they are if they can salvage the season by the time they get to know the playbook.

With VJAX potentially out, maybe we just chalk this season up as a loss and look to the draft. I don’t know that any bandaids this season would be worth it.

  43. Richmondbucsfan Says:

Guess Mariota is out of the question now.

“Looks like Glennon doesn’t have all the confidence of the coaching staff after all lol”

Looks like it PRB. Then again most of the fan base doesn’t have much confidence in the coaching staff right now either.

Lovie kind of reminds me of a certain someone in America with a lot of power that says one thing and does the complete opposite.

    Yah my trust has waned.

  48. Thebucssuck14 Says:

I say Tebow over Pryor as well. He could make a speech that as long as he is QB of the Bucs they will never see anyone try harder……. To go down by 56-0 in the 3rd!!!!! WTF!!!! We are screwed again folks.

  49. Flmike Says:

Because the Bucs just aren’t bad enough…

  50. BigMacAttack Says:

I have my tickets and I’ll continue going to the games but I’m losing interest fast. I have better ways to spend my time than on Perrenial Losers. This looks to be a 3-5 year project about now. I think Lovie will get there but this roster isn’t half as good as I thought it would be.

  51. Buc1987 Says:

OMG here we go with another Tebow. Now I have re-post this in here.

    Re-post :

You people crack me up. You go into this rant about how bad Glennon is at this and that. Then you end it with. “Gimme Tebow.”

    OMG…LMFAO!

The guy with worst throwing mechanics to ever play in the NFL and you say gimme Tebow over Glennon.

Damn you Gator fans are so jaded when it comes to this guy. You’re orange and blue is gleaming through. I’m a big time FSU fan. I think Winston is a helluva lot better QB than Tebow, but his immaturity makes me not even want the Bucs to go near him with a 10 foot pole. NOT TEBOW though. To you Gator fans Tebow is like the second coming of Jesus Christ. You people are relentless. Danny Wuerffel was a helluva lot better QB that Tebow. Guess what though? Wuerffel sucked in the NFL and he was STILL better than Tebow.

Newflash! There is a reason why Tebow is STILL unemployed.

How many years will it take for people stop clamoring for this bum? 2, 3, 4, 5 years?

Josh Freeman was 10 times the QB than Tebow…I can go on and on and on. Just like the Tebow fans. YES Tebow is THAT bad!

Tebow has THEE worst throwing motion in NFL history. That’s what did him in. Not the media or fans or anyone else. Why do you think he kept looking for more and more “experts” outside of the NFL to teach him how to throw a football?

I can’t even believe I just typed that. Tim Tebow has to be taught how to throw a football, but somehow is qualified to be an NFL QB.

That shipped sailed a long time ago. Maybe back in Pop Warner. And no I’m not very religious, but that has nothing to do with his skill, nor would I ever hold that against him. I actually liked the whole Tebowing thingy.

  52. sam Says:

I think lovie will eventually get things right, but its gonna take time. This team don’t have a lot of talent, I say 2-3 years.

  53. sam Says:

Remember Pete Carroll’s first year in Seattle he went 7-9….. and the team improved every year after that. Maybe lovie can pull of something similar with the buc’s. Time will tell

  54. d-money Says:

It doesn’t say anything about anyone.

Teams bring in players for workouts all the time. It’s probably just a favor for his agent to help keep his name in other GM’s minds.

  55. Buc1987 Says:

Sam…I know this team did however have enough talent on it to go 7-9 in 2012.
Lovie got rid of most of that talent. I bet he doesn’t come close to 7-9 anytime soon. I’ll actually bet my house on it.

And no I don’t think 7-9 is great either, my point is our team is very very far off from matching those 7 wins that crappy Schiano put up just 2 seasons ago, with supposedly less talent according to Lovie seeing how he got rid of 1/2 the team.

No this Lovie deal is not going to work out at all. Sad to say it to, because it looks like we might be stuck with him for a bit.

  56. Buc1987 Says:

So you see everyone. I use Schiano’s Bucs as a measuring stick of just how far the Bucs have to go. It’s really easy actually.

Currently Schiano’s Bucs would wipe their snot with Lovie’s Bucs. I don’t see that changing anytime soon either.

  57. sam Says:

Don’t give up hope yet lol

  58. sam Says:

We’ve had some injuries and a lot OF BAD LUCK, our luck will change.

  59. Soggy Says:

@Buc1987, I’m with ya man, this sh!t sucks and I don’t want to hold hands singing comb by ya wating 3-5 years for maybe a team.. and thats a maybe..This team did not have to be dismantled like it was and we could have hester right now and I dont know maybe vic, lovie is the one dropping the ball.. we are at the mercy of lovie and glazers

  60. Zam Says:

This gives me hope for Tebow. I’d like to see him play since he fixed his mechanics. At least let him compete to see if he’s better than McCown or Glennon now.

  61. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

I’m not a Glennon fan (yet) but come on, guys. This QB is nowhere close to as good as Glennon, and that’s saying a lot.

Any idiots that say otherwise are just showing their ignorance or are trolls.

  62. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

I’d take Tebow to finish out the year as a backup. You never know, he might pull a Kurt Warner.

  63. another J Says:

Pryor I still better than Mike Kafka.

  64. Soggy Says:

@Buc1987, I’m with ya man, this sh!t sucks and I don’t want to hold hands singing comb by ya waiting 3-5 years for maybe a team.. and thats a maybe..This team did not have to be dismantled like it was and we could have hester right now and I dont know maybe vic, lovie is the one dropping the ball.. we are at the mercy of lovie and glazers

  65. Buc1987 Says:

The entire offense has to be changed to suit Tebow. That’s what Denver did for him. That and they had one helluva defense which made him look better than he really was.

  66. Mark from the Block Says:

What most are forgetting and Joe can help me out on this. Pryor might not be brought in to beat out Glennon. He could be brought in instead of bringing up Kafka, who would be the backup for Glennon. Thats at most what Pryor is being brought in for, not to replace Glennon. So my dear MGMers sleep peacefully, this is just further proof of overraction before using logic

  67. Buc1987 Says:

I think Bill Belichick knows QB’s. I don’t think he just got lucky with Br-ady. I think Bill’s a defensive minded coach to begin with, wasn’t he a DC. So I don’t know how he knows QB’s, but he does.

Point is. Tebow did not pass the muster with Bilichick. That should have been the end all be all of it all. I think it was. I think Tebow is done.

  68. Buc1987 Says:

Kafka…has been in the NFL for 4 seasons everyone already knows what he’s got.

  69. sam Says:

At this point I would be willing too give Tebow a chance, why the hell not. Lets make this year a trail and error, leave no stone unturned. I mean were not win awhole lot of games the year anyway. Lets start looking and planning, along with the draft. Start next year, right now!

  70. Tomcin Says:

OMG! He was cut from the Raider’s, need I say more. Smith showing more of his ignorance. Poor guy has no clue.

  71. Buc1987 Says:

When the team starts playing better than Schiano’s Bucs, THEN I will start to believe in Lovie Smith.

I think it should be that way with the rest of you as well.

  72. Buc1987 Says:

I bought season tickets for the first time ever after the Bucs went 7-9. They signed Revis and Goldson in the offseason, so I took the plunge and bought them. Thinking that the secondary would get better and that was all they needed, I bought them.

I skipped this season. It was a wait and see what they look like for me, then I might buy them even mid season this year.

No, no, no. I am far far away from buying season tickets again as you can see.

I love this team like family, but I love money a lot too.

  73. Soggy Says:

You all do realize we are absolutely the only people in the Western Hemisphere discussing Mike Glennon and contemplating exorcism for Tebow career?

Doesn’t that seem a bit off a little?

Like there are so many other things happening in sports that are better and noteworthy than the skunkaneers that we shouldn’t be wasting brain cells on the bottom feeders that keep stealing money from us. Every year we talk about garbage topics and sorry arse quarterbacks!

OMG please open your eyes and see that we are supporting the organization ghetto of all NFL teams and we are so brainwashed that we think these players are relevant.

    Hello – yeah – they’re not.

The only thing we need to discuss is the draft! Period!

If McCown cannot play, then the Bucs have only one QB. If the Bucs do not believe that McCown will be ready in two weeks, OR they do not wish to ever go back to McCown, they will need to find another veteran backup. There is NO way that Pryor can play anytime soon. First, he is not in ‘football’ shape. Second, he has never even seen the playbook.

Not saying Lovie will definitely turn this team around like Dungy did, however doesn’t he at least deserve the same opportunity? I assume from seeing all the comments from most of the people on this site that you are either too young, too dumb or are not truly a fan of the Bucs to have not seen this play out before. Internet is a great thing. Go back and look at the 1996 season. That team was awful the first half of that season. If there had been a JoeBucsFan back then, the same clowns would be all over this site ripping the Glazers for making Tony their first hire.

I’m old enough to remember. For that reason and for the fact that Lovie has been successful everywhere he has been, I am willing to give him some time.

The most winning QB in college football history and he played with Doug Martin. The dude is smart and he’s been solid as a backup in Detroit. He studies film religiously and would most certianly teach our coaches a thing or two.

Lovie likely watched what Russell Wilson did with his legs in OT yesterday to the Broncos, he barely threw a pass, what did T. Pryor learn from Wilson, worth checking out, we are 0-3 with terrible QB play, in other words, no playmakers, there is a possibility (slim), that Pryor could be that guy. Besides, Can anyone name anyone that has been offensively successful for the Raiders.

  92. dusthy rhothdes Says:

rrsrq, lovie had all last year in his basement to recognize what we all know that this is not the bucball late 90s era there has been a change and he must have been chiefing it up down there because he missed the new pass happy nfl of 2014 and has no clue on personnel

  93. Chris Says:

I’m beyond pissed off with this coaching staff! The hell is wrong with Lovie Smith! He should have drafted Johny Football when we had the chance! We are the biggest laughing stock in the NFL! I know it’s only been three games but Lovie Smith should be fired for the choices he’s made and what he’s put this team through! No confidence in the players and demonstrates poor leadership!

  94. ToesOnTheLine Says:

    @JBuc

How much time should the Bucs give Lovie? They gave a new to the NFL coach (Schiano) 2 years, so is that fair for Lovie too? So far I’m with 87…Schiano’s team looked better prepared and played with more intensity than Lovie’s Bucs. I realize it’s only been 3 games and it could turn around, but that is disturbing considering how many year’s Lovie has been in the NFL and how much autonomy he’s been given over the team.

  95. Vagabond Says:

There is something terribly amiss at One Buc. It seems Lovie has lost his way and strange things are afoot. There is no direction and the strangeness of the Tedford saga along with desperate reaching for a QB from the pile of throw aways is far worse than last year’s misery. This is the pitfall of the revolving headcoach door – we’ve lost our sails & rudder… and our Captain seems inept. Hoping for a revival.

  96. JBuc Says:

ToesOnTheLine- were Schiano’ Bucs more prepared earlier in year 1 than Lovie’s team thus far? Yes. Pub the also did not completely overhaul the entire roster like Lovie has. The issue with Schiano was that he appeared to have completely lost the team in year 2 and the team began to regress. Lovie should get two years unless we see absolutely no improvement from this team in year 1. Again, he may have said they were not rebuilding, but let’s be honest. They are definitely rebuilding. Tony saw improvement during the second half of year 1 and made the playoffs in year 2. That is what I am hopeful for.

  97. gatrbuc17 Says:

  98. gatrbuc17 Says:

  99. Fort Myers Dave Says:

If Pryor was capable of running an NFL offense, he would be on another team already. The fact that he is not even made the jump north to the ****ing CFL ought to tell everyone that this guy can in no way contribute in a positive way to the Bucs. Christ, how about seeing Tedford call a damn play instead of that Southern Miss OC who obviously is in way over his head!

  100. DB55 Says:

Like the hell a lot of players in the NFL don’t. Kaepernik has religious tats for crying out loud. John Elway ruined Tim Tebows career. Just my own personal opinion. Too many females in FL. Trust me I know, when I got here in 94′ I thought I died and went to heaven, a really hot heaven. Ybor City, Miami Beach, FT Lauderale. Clearwater beach forgetsboutit. With millions in hand dude idk I’d be wrapped around a tree somewhere.

I bet San diego has the same problem ha if you call that a problem.

I’m willing to try Tim Tebow and till this day I still have no idea why he turned out so bad. He obtained the heisman trophy and led the way the broncos to the playoffs his first time around the the NFL. He performed very well! so he has religious beliefs? Like the hell a lot of players in the NFL don’t. Kaepernik has religious tats for crying out loud. John Elway ruined Tim Tebows career. Just my own personal opinion. The Bucs need to do something big but this is definitely not the answer!!!!

    ——————————

Tebow & Lovie a match made in heaven.

We can have Kirk franklin and Fred Hammond for half time show. We’ll save all 10k fans and pass around the collection plate. I don’t think thats offensive but if it is sorry, but I’m rotf.

I lived in San Diego back in 1989-91( brought my Vinny jersey with me). Gooooorgeous women is an understatement dude.

Makes Florida women look like trailer trash. No lie, I tell no lies.

The Beach Boys and Katy Perry with Snoop Dogg theyn ain’t lying neither.

That’s not to say Florida girls are not hot though. Ha, I grew up in Massachusetts, you want to talk about ugly.lol

On second thought STOP mentioning Tebow dude. Even in joking manner. lol If that guy even puts on a Bucs jersey I’ll lose it. Then again it would be fitting!

The Tampa Buccaneers are the whores of the NFL. Used and abused and then kicked to the curb by every team they face. The ship is sinking fast and taking on too much water. Yeah I’ve been here before. I’m a Bucs fan.

“Tony saw improvement during the second half of year 1 and made the playoffs in year 2. That is what I am hopeful for.”

Ha ha ha silly Bucs fan. This is not Dungy part 2. This not a sequel we’re watching. This is a comedy show and I’m not talking about the offense being ran by a QB coach for the last month and a 1/2. I’m talking about Lovie’s D. Nope this is a shyte show is what it is and it will continue. But remain hopeful. Until the next hire, because Lovie has that Josh Freeman “deer in the headlights” look about it him nowadays. His candle is burned out, man.

“It’s A Bucs Life” or change it to my new slogan, “Just Give Us More Time”.

Been thinking the exact same thing. Is it any wonder why the Bucs are so perennially bad when they trade FIRST round draft picks to acquire an injured DB
getting pain 16 million a year.

I’ve posted this before, but if they get a top pick, they should trade it to some team hoping to get their “franchise QB” like RGIII. St. Louis has turned that into like seven players, including another top 2 pick which got traded again for a king’s ransom.

Sorry for all the typos. It’s my B-day, went out to dinner and had too much wine. Not to mention too many Swisher Sweet cigars.

Anyways I’m done bashing my team for the night. JBF is the best place to do it though if you’re gonna do it. Right Joes?

    See ya in the morn.

  112. Trubucfan22 Says:

Hey ’87, schianos team of 2 years ago also had a capable QB at the helm. You know, the franchise single season leader in yards and TDs. Just sayin.

    Wtf….

Happy Birthday, Buc 1987, and many more!

  115. BucPuck Says:

Hey 1987. Did you know in 3 years that Tebow has more playoff wins than Matt Ryan, Romo, Culter, Luck and Alex Smith? Did you also know Tebow is the only heisman winning QB in the last 28 years to win a playoff game? He has also completely changed his mechanics. Proven winners are stupid and facts are stupid. I’m out.

  116. DB55 Says:

    Smoke one for me buc.

  117. jo_mama Says:

    Glennon or Tebow.

    I’ll take Glennon any day.

But if our Idiot Coach does not like him. Tebow will get it done.

  118. DB55 Says:

Amen ‘mama! Glory be to …

As big mama would say – haller luyer

I kid, tebow couldn’t pass the ball past his helmet much less to an open rvc. He looks like the hulk out there, looking to smash lbs. r u kidding? With the injuries we have he’d get hurt after 2 qrts, could you imagine? If we signed a starter and they got hurt after two qrts.

  119. JC Says:

Well I have been a due hard bucs fan for 20 years. We have never ever had a franchise qb. Lovie says his qb must be mobile. Why not sign Pryor let him learn the playbook while Glennon plays 2 weeks. Bring him in while tedford is healthy and start running the playbook we will be using next season when marriota is our franchise qb. If there is a god we draft marriota and trade up in the first round with Glennon in the package abs draft gurley. That would be a playoff team. Joebucsfan would no longer be a complaining site. I HATE being q bucs fan but I will never quit on them.

“The Bucs have a playbook? Really?”

Yes, but it’s written in Tedfordeese and no one else can read that language.

  121. Tackleblockwin Says:

I think the next 10 drafts can’t get here soon enough.

  122. Chris Says:

At least we will be first in line to draft Jameis this year!!! Go Noles! Go Bucs! Go Jaboo!

  123. JMN Says:

Everyone jumping to conclusions here. Glennon will start in place of McCown due to his injury. Lovie only keeps 2 QBs on the roster. This is nothing more than to fill a roster spot. McCowns’s injury may be worse than we were led to believe after his visit with the specialist yesterday.

  124. buc4lyfe Says:

Honestly lovie might be doomed. Of all the quarterback free agents he went after one…. A never has been and basically saying he’s the best on the market. Mccown was that good to lovie he wouldn’t even consider Vick or anyone else lol you deserve to be fired when you bring in a career backup at the end of his career and provide no competition, didn’t even have to compete with Glennon how pathetic

  125. Zane Pope Says:

    Why didn’t take Johnny again?

  126. Kysteve Says:

NEWS FLASH!!!!! Josh JOHNSON is now available again……heck let’s go back, reset all the Josh’s and try again?? Just saying……

    WooHoo!!

  127. BoJim Says:

Tebow’s got a lot of gigs these days. He’s not in football shape. Good in college but not an NFL QB.

  128. "that guy" Says:

if they start pryor over glennon ill be pissed.

  129. DB55 Says:

I said Josh Johnson yesterday. Kid is mobile has a good arm but can’t run an offense. 2/3 ain’t bad.

  130. BuccDeez Says:

We don’t need Mcgarbage , Glennon is not a trigger puller. Pryor is not the answer but the offense might be more interesting with Tp2 behind center. Besides that ” I got nothing “
