Tedford Absent Again
September 22nd, 2014No Jeff Tedford at practice today at One Buc Palace.
What more can be said about the Bucs’ healing/ailing offensive coordinator. This is bad news, delivered by Lovie Smith this afternoon.
There was hope for today after Lovie’s video chat on Buccaneers.com over the weekend. But alas, Tedford wasn’t able to go.
The authentic Jeff Tedford Offense still has yet to be seen. What makes this work is that Tedford was very much a hands-on teacher, as shown in Joe’s photo above. Joe shot that during a water break during training camp. Tedford was a guy who often was seen working through those breaks.

The put him on disability and replace him. Next coach up.

What more can be said….HOW about the F’n truth….
September 22nd, 2014 at 4:31 pm
This is getting ridiculous. Is this guy ever going to come back? his health is obviously the most imporant thing but what pisses me off is lovie/media always saying ” Tedford will be back soon ” or sh*t like that.
September 22nd, 2014 at 4:31 pm
Thanks joe, whom knows anymore? just fits with everything else..uh
September 22nd, 2014 at 4:35 pm
Would it really make that much of a difference?
September 22nd, 2014 at 4:35 pm
Hopefully they can get him back soon. That being said, a guys life and health is more important than football. Just sucks to be us. A lot.
September 22nd, 2014 at 4:36 pm
Hopefully it’s a checkup and not a setback.
September 22nd, 2014 at 4:41 pm
Maybe just maybe if that picture was taken in there “indoor practice facility” we would not be in this mess. Everybody is hurt. Man just call the steelers and see if we can reschedule. Tell them we don’t have enough gas money to make it up there.
September 22nd, 2014 at 4:45 pm
I hope it’s a check up too. But if health is this bad it is time to replace him. It’s done enough damage to the offense as it is.
September 22nd, 2014 at 4:45 pm
I had 2 stents in one week. Didn’t miss an assignment all week.
Obviously- either Tedford is the most delicate Flower in the league
Or
It ain’t two stents
September 22nd, 2014 at 4:47 pm
once again you all need only to refer to Robert for the right info.
I said when the news broke about heart stints that this was not going to be a two week ordeal. I am no doctor, but I had one and work in a stressfull environment. It took me months to feel normal again. he’s not punching a time clock or running the mail. they may say it’s a one week and back to work, but not in a high stress environment, not with 2 stints, not with the mess he is walking into.
Robert told you long ago. I think he should quit while he’s ahead/alive, but thats me. he could be back in a few weeks, but again he will be all medicated and not 100% mentally. pick your poison. either way we’re f#$ked. with or without him.

There is a Cardiologist who post here. He confirmed that it is a one day recovery deal. My first one, I came in as an out patient in the morning(7:00am on the table), was released at 4:30 same day
Had an abraded artery from first one( happens 1 in 10000- lucky me), so they did a 2nd Stent Friday evening( I checked in Friday at 2:00), was released Saturday by noon.
No issues. No tissues.
This is exactly in line with what the Cardiologist posted here. And how the procedure is discribed at source info sites.
Unless Tedford is having Massive anxiety attacks-
It ain’t the stents.
Not for this amount of time
September 22nd, 2014 at 5:02 pm
Who really gives a HOOT! At this point…does it really matter?
September 22nd, 2014 at 5:10 pm
Yes, if you want your offense to develop.
September 22nd, 2014 at 5:13 pm
Hasn’t he already used up his allotted 10 sick days?
September 22nd, 2014 at 5:13 pm
What more can be said….HOW about the F’n truth….
September 22nd, 2014 at 5:15 pm
I hope Jeff Jagod, uh I mean Tedford makes a complete recovery but I’m done watching this team for a while. There is nothing entertaining at all about them.
September 22nd, 2014 at 5:16 pm
I understand the situation but this is getting frustrating
September 22nd, 2014 at 5:24 pm
Obviously his condition was quite serious…..I am certain he wants to be at work more than we want him there…..lets just wish him good health.
Marcus is getting much needed experience…..
1st & 10…..run up the middle for no gain….really helps our QBs out!!!
Establish the run….pound the rock….Bell Cows……kiss my a$$…..
September 22nd, 2014 at 5:25 pm
Whats the point? Just retire n go play with the grandkids. We suck you can’t help us!!!!!
September 22nd, 2014 at 5:29 pm
I’m sure when he saw the Bucs performance on Thursday night, it didn’t do anything positive to his heart condition.
September 22nd, 2014 at 5:33 pm
well tedford, sorry you could not break out this mystery offense, I really would have liked to seen it. hey next year you think you can teach it to youre understudy so maybe he can call some decent plays, I mean if you don’t mind. or do you still want to keep it secret. oh well hope to see you soon.
September 22nd, 2014 at 5:37 pm
Stephen King announced his new book would be the stunner of all his books, it’s called, It’s a Bucs Life Sucka’s
September 22nd, 2014 at 5:47 pm
Perhaps he has reevaluated the situation here. He got sick because he drank Lovie’s Kool-aid and he realizes this is a train going downhill on the wrong track.
Glazer kids wake up. This mess is damaging what little fan base exists. Hire a front office football professional to take the reins. Put him over the coach and G.M. and urge him to hold them accountable. Giving Lovie a free hand was another in a long list of stupid mistakes. Stop the insanity…. hire someone who knows how to build a winning team.
September 22nd, 2014 at 5:55 pm
Tedford coming back would be the one thing I could see helping this team. Not only would it help the offense, but it would help the defense as well. Why? Because those guys are going to be more motivated to carry their end of the deal if they see the offense giving them some help.
September 22nd, 2014 at 6:04 pm
This seems a little odd Joe. Either he is having major questions as to whether or not he should come back to coach or he is communicating poorly to Lovie and the team. I believe this is at least the 2nd occasion that he said he would be back at work by a certain day and then not shown. I get it if you are not ready to come back, but then don’t give a date. I can’t believe Lovie would tell everyone he would be back my Monday “Full go” unless Tedford told him that was true.
Very odd
September 22nd, 2014 at 6:08 pm
This @sshole van’t take pressure. Check
His last few years in the PAC 12.
September 22nd, 2014 at 6:21 pm
I completely understand this man’s health comes first. But how about telling all of the fans that got duped into buying season tickets with the “win now” sales pitch what is going on. Is he coming back or not? There is no way in hell I will sit through even 1 quarter of football with barbies boyfriend calling plays again. The guy probably has no clue what defense he is looking at with the opponent. Shouldn’t he be shooting a Calvin Klein commercial somewhere? This just sucks. Quit beating around the bush and tell us how long he is out for? We really are the worst team in the league right now. I’ll bet they let Blake Bortles open it up in Jacksonville for his first start while our Veteran head coach and 35 year old QB have been running it up the middle on 3rd and 7 in the red zone. What a joke. THE joke of the league. Our Tampa Bay Buccaneers!!! GO BUCS!!!! yay……
September 22nd, 2014 at 6:24 pm
Guys from here on out until I see a difference on the field by the Bucs everytime I hear one of these articles about the Bucs im going to imediately play the following: Thank you DB55. http://youtu.be/qRC4Vk6kisY
September 22nd, 2014 at 6:26 pm
This is getting worse than when Schiano was here! Just quit lying to us, and tell us the truth! With the money we give them, it’s the freaking least they could do. It’s like every single thing that comes outta Lovie or One Buc Place is a lie, simply so we’ll keep giving them our hard earned cash! How can they not see how they’re staring to be perceived?
September 22nd, 2014 at 6:31 pm
This is getting ridiculous and only adding to the clown circus. I feel really bad for Tedford and wish him a good amd speedy recovery. There is nothing you can do about a serious illness like his.
But this is the NFL. A business. An NFL Franchise does not have the time to wait for their employee to get healthy and contribute to the team like everybody else. If he cannot sit down in a booth and just analyze a game and call plays, then he must be in serious trouble. His absence is hurting this team, and there are plenty out there who can replace him. Again, speedy recovery Mr. Tedford.
September 22nd, 2014 at 6:36 pm
It’s not the recovery from the stent procedure, that is causing the problem. It’s the problem from the heart itself. My guess is that, he probably let his condition go on too long, or he may have suffered a heart attack, prior to seeking treatment. As a result, his heart may have been weakened, by the condition. This would explain all the Hush, Hush, from One Buc place. Stress is very bad for a heart patient , and it’s possible we may not see him return this year. I speak from experience, and I wish Jeff Tedford all the best, and hope, he is well soon.
September 22nd, 2014 at 6:38 pm
@ Jeff
My pleasure.

I’m starting to think Jeff Tedford is a mythical creature.

Didn’t you see the video? He’s real alright! He’s a puffy unicorn dancing on rainbows.
Or at least that’s what Lovie’s telling us. lol
September 22nd, 2014 at 7:10 pm
A lot of the LA Kings and Dodgers live in the Manhatten Beach area, wonder if the LA Buccaneers players will wanna live there or closer to the new stadium location nearer to Downtown…
September 22nd, 2014 at 7:15 pm
there’s more drama on this team then there is field practice
September 22nd, 2014 at 7:44 pm
It’s like the Jeff Jagodzinski debacle all over again…
September 22nd, 2014 at 7:47 pm
Tedford was to return today and again was a no show. I don’t portend to know what his condition is, but when his absence starts to materially affect the Buc’s offensive effectiveness, other alternatives must be considered.
With all due respect and empathy, Jeff Tedford should be given the appropriate time to recover from whatever condition he has. If his recovery is extended or is subject to relapses or secondary side effects, He should be given the old Jimmy Raye title of SR. Offensive Assistant and have him mentor a new young OC who comes from a system similar to what Tedford wants to do here at the Bucs.
Scott Frost is a young successful OC at Oregon who plays the style of offense that resembles what I can make of the new Bucs offense. He is ready to move to the next level and would make the perfect student for Tedford and could bring that Oregon high octane offense to the Bucs
September 22nd, 2014 at 7:48 pm
Captntim … Did you have a heart attack? Not saying Tedford did, but people react differently to stents. I have seven stents in me which eventually lead to bypass surgery and being completely unable to work or be normal ever again! Your insensitive comments bother me. As a cardiac patient you better than most posters here should understand that because you recovered as fast as you claim not everyone else does or has the ability to. By the way my first angioplasty was at 35, first stent at 36. I am 57 and done with a normal life. Please think before you overlod yor mouth, you do not know what his condition is.
September 22nd, 2014 at 8:05 pm
He should either quit or just go on a two or three month IR.
Better for him and the fans.
Even the most optimistic homers don’t think this
season is urgent anymore.
People react differently to these heart procedures.
Maybe halfway through the season we can get Tedford
and Sims and ASJ and Martin and McCoy and Foster back
and see what this team was meant to be.
Not to contradiction my shi**y attitude as of late but
I think we’d be 2-1 right now if all those guys (and Tedford)
had played.
September 22nd, 2014 at 8:36 pm
I am aware of HPPA laws … but with the length of time he has been out with no return date, it appears he had a heart attack and the stents (?) or bypass surgery is taking much longer to work through … It may be that the Bucs will have to find another OC. This man is done. I feel bad for the man, but life goes on. Life can be cruel for sure.
September 22nd, 2014 at 8:40 pm
Tedford’s continued absence will be the reason McCown is our starting QB again next season.
September 22nd, 2014 at 8:49 pm
@captim
either way I called it a month ago he would not be back…..but hey your right lol
glad to hear they could clear all that man milk from your arteries so quckly….bet you were back to meat straws by sunday
September 22nd, 2014 at 9:03 pm
To make matters worse this weekend the Steelers just re-signed James Harrison. It’s gonna be an absolute beating this weekend.
September 22nd, 2014 at 9:37 pm
We’ve never really had great luck when it comes to OC’s…any luck for that matter. Chucky dual hatted it for the years he was here and had some great games. The team has just never been an offensive powerhouse.
I do hope Tedford improves. As many have noted, one’s health is far more important than a game..At some point, to maintain credibility he’ll either come out and say what the issue is and provide a realistic time frame for his return, or even if he will be back for the season.
September 22nd, 2014 at 10:01 pm
THIS IS GETTING ******* RIDICULOUS, JEFF TEDFORD NEEDS TO GET WELL SOON, WE CAN’T SURVIVE WITH THE IMBECILE THAT WE HAVE AS OUR OFFENSIVE PLAY CALLER, SERIOUSLY???!!!, WHY WOULD YOU RUN ON 3 & 7????, A CLEAR PASSING SITUATION
September 22nd, 2014 at 10:05 pm
This p!sses me off! His health is priority and because of that Jeff needs to go to Lovie and say I am stepping down. It’s hurting us believe it or not.
September 22nd, 2014 at 10:11 pm
This is ridiculous; there is no way Marcus Arroyo should be allowed to call another play for the Bucs ever again, but yet I have this gnawing gut instinct that is exactly what is going to happen with the expected, predictable embarrassing results for the Bucs again. If Tedford can not go then dismiss him! Yeah I know there is not anyone available but Arroyo is not the answer! This waiting game is beyond comprehension, has it ever happened in the NFL before???? Look Marcus Arroyo was OC for a 1-11 Southern Miss team last year: whose ****ing idea was it to have him call the plays? Time for a few people to get fired IMHO. Jesus, who could this happen to except for the Bucs????
September 22nd, 2014 at 10:12 pm
There’s no way the Falcons put up 56 points on us if Tedford was healthy.
September 22nd, 2014 at 10:20 pm
hopeless
September 22nd, 2014 at 10:29 pm
Godspeed and hopefully a rapid return to good health for Coach Tedford.
As noted previously, this does not at all sound like an UNCOMPLICATED stent insertion procedure. Most patients are discharged the following day and I advise them to return to full activity after 48 hrs or so. One of my friends had a stent to his proximal LAD ( so called “widowmaker”) and has returned to playing full court basketball without problems. If there has been no myocardial damage ( i.e. not a heart attack), then most patients feel much improved following an uncomplicated stent procedure. Think of the artery as a clogged fuel line to the heart, which has now been opened to allow normal flow to the heart muscle. The heart should function better after restoration of blood flow.
As an aside, during my residency, the attending cardiologist advised a patient after bypass surgery (not a simple stent procedure) that he could resume sex with his wife two weeks after his surgery, but he needed to wait at least a month before sex with any other woman! LOL. During my cardiology fellowship, we never were taught any specifics about how long to limit activity, sexual or otherwise after a heart attack, or bypass. It mostly depends on other comorbidities, i.e. other factors which may affect the patient’s ability to return to full activity.
I’ve asked before, has anyone SEEN Coach Tedford since his illness. Did he have some other illness/surgery, which may have been complicated by a heart attack with subsequent stent procedure?
Happy to answer any questions, but as an MGM member, I sure most may not trust my judgment. LOL.

Joe or anyone – what is the story with Sefarian Jenkins? Have not seen anything about him returning.

Talent evaluation. This whole thing reminds me of kids running wild with daddy’s money.
September 22nd, 2014 at 11:28 pm
I wish him well. His days as a Buc OC are done. I said it the other day: he is pondering retirement. Whatever prompted those stents was much worse than just feeling tired. I believe he had a heart attack.
Next OC not named Arroyo up!
September 22nd, 2014 at 11:31 pm
@NC
In typical Lovie fashion, earlier today he said ASJ “was getting better”. For what it’s worth, he’s been saying that about Tedford for a month.
September 22nd, 2014 at 11:59 pm
Lets all try and keep our heads above water fellas, it’s gonna get better, we’ve had a lot of injuries, ailments, bad throws, bad hands and bad coverage through 3 games, but I have a feeling that this will turn out better than you think this year…….GO BUCS
September 23rd, 2014 at 12:51 am
Couldn’t he just draw a few plays on index cards and stick em in Arroyo’s pocket ?
September 23rd, 2014 at 9:05 am
You people are ridiculous.
The man has a serious health problem. Just because he had two stents and some of you have also had stents doesn’t mean that his situation is the same as yours. There are many different health issues that could lead to a person having to have a stent.
One of which is a heart attack, and from the sound of things I wouldn’t be surprised if we learn that he had a mild attack.
And for those of you saying he should step down, if you were in his shoes would you quit your jobs? Get a life, the man is obviously trying to come back quickly and he isn’t able to at the moment.
What happen to the days when a player was a Buccaneer and you supported them no matter what as long as they were part of this team?
He is a Buc and as long as he is a Buc he should be given all the support he needs and when he is ready to come back the job should be there waiting for him. It isn’t his fault that the person Lovie chose to fill in for him isn’t living up to everyone’s standards.
I suppose a couple of years ago when Chuck Pagano was the new Colt’s HC and was diagnosed with cancer he should have stepped down as well?
Total BS, you don’t kick a man when he is down, especially when it is something entirely out of his control.
