End The Josh McCown Fantasy; Move All-In Now With Mike Glennon

September 21st, 2014
Glennon big

Joe is now a sanctioned General in the Mike Glennon Mob

Joe repeatedly cautioned fans all offseason that it is virtually impossible to win the NFC South title, let alone a Super Bowl, with the worst quarterback in the division.

Therefore, Joe painfully and loudly ached and trumpeted for the Bucs to draft a quarterback with “franchise” potential because every other viable QB option was a waste of time.

In the spring, Josh McCown and Mike Glennon represented hoping for a football miracle at the position. So the smart move was to recognize the need at quarterback and attack it in the draft. That didn’t happen.

Now, in McCown, the Bucs have the fifth best quarterback in the NFC South. Yes, Joe would take Panthers backup and Bucs killer Derek Anderson over McCown.

Joe is finished hoping for the McCown miracle that Lovie Smith banked on. Once again, it’s time for the Bucs to make a decisive, smart move at quarterback. It’s time to relegate McCown to the bench permanently.

Too many failures

McCown’s leadership, poise and savvy have all proven to be overrated. That cannont be disputed. There is no point to McCown, 35, continuing as the Tampa Bay starting quarterback.

The smart move for the Bucs is to move all-in with Glennon immediately — in action, words and spirit.

Yes, Joe is now a General in the Mike Glennon Mob. Hand the ball and the offense over to Glennon.

Nothing else makes logical sense in a lost season. Glennon is 24 years old. And while Joe doesn’t think No. 8 has the tools to become a quality NFL starter, Glennon surely has a better shot than McCown.

Legions of veteran football men will tell you a player improves most from Year 1 to Year 2. Well, there’s only one way to see what strides Glennon has made.

Sadly, this 2014 Buccaneers season is no longer about wins and losses; it’s about assessing talent, developing players, and making wise decisions in order to best position the franchise for 2015. Keeping McCown as starter serves no purpose.

Win-Win

Joe would greatly admire Lovie Smith if he were to publicly move all-in with Glennon in words, actions and spirit tomorrow.

What a great message it would send to the roster and to fans, a message that underlines that no Buccaneer is untouchable in the quest to become “relevant” again.

(That was Lovie’s stated goal from his opening news conference in January: to become “relevant.”)

If Glennon succeeds in Jeff Tedford’s offense, (assuming Tedford returns) then what a gift that would be, given Glennon’s puny salary through 2016.

If not, then the path is thoroughly cleared for the Bucs to go franchise quarterback hunting when this season ends.

Joe is finished

The NFL remains a quarterback-driven league, and it will move more in that direction as rules evolve to support offensive football, which drives fantasy football interest, a key component to the NFL’s financial success.

A strong quarterback is essential. Continuing the McCown resurrection fantasy won’t continue on these pages.

In August, when speaking about Glennon, Lovie told Ronde Barber, “In time he will be leading our franchise.”

Now is the time.

Called it!!! I am on fire this year, Maybe I should start wearing a turbing!!! welcome joe! welcome to the club!!! now lets win some football games!!!!!

    MGM lives!!!!

  2. 1gr8buc Says:

I knew it haha. Good call Joe

  3. MadMax ™ Says:

Welcome aboard!!!! Figured thats what it was as @Buc Realist called it…..but I still want the reigns D@mmit!!!!

  4. Goodolebucfan Says:

Mccown sucks Glennon sucks were screwed!

  5. RastaMon Says:

I have stayed out of the Glennon thing …simply because they are/were too many factors of uncertainty surrounding him, first and foremost last year as raw rookie, followed by the MRSA/Freemon/Schanio drama….I still have an open mind and will hold back judgement until the smoke clears….

  6. theodore Says:

Giving up on a 35 year QB is a major announcement?

  7. 911bucs Says:

    Didn’t see that comment coming.

  8. theodore Says:

With Mike Glennon, we are now back to having the fourth best QB in the NFC South!

  9. Nybucsfan Says:

I’m ok with him to finish this year. The draft better be a real QB in the first round. No more playing around as a fan we need someone to get behind. I hear Oregon has a good QB

  10. BucsFanSince89 Says:

Is this the announcement Joe ? You’re now the official president of the Glennon Mob??? lol Is about time they give Glennon a chance! It can’t get any worst! I honestly think that Glennon is going to show off. He gets the starting job, then he gets put back in the bench for a back up!! If he has any heart on him or leadership skills that had to do some damage to his ego and any good leader takes pride on that and would be on “I’m going to show you mode”. We’ll see I’m really pulling for Glennon he has been nothing but class through all this ridiculous decisions from Lovie. The man deserve a chance let him have his 15 minutes of fame! Like many said here if he does good then we know what we have if he doesn’t then we know we need a QB in the draft! You cant’ make a decision like that without seen what you really have! I mean if that’s the case of evaluating a player without giving him a chance then again coaching staff needs to be questioned on their evaluation process. The Glennon Mob is Risen!!!!! lol

  11. Name Required Says:

I thought you were announcing an app. Oh, well…

    Agreed in the assessment.

6th. Glennon couldn’t beat out McClown.

  13. StPeteBucsFan Says:

All great points Joe. Sadly I also agree with the league’s fascination with the “Fantasy football folks”. I get bored spitless by fantasy football and stats. Didn’t someone once say stats are for losers…and fantasy football players…oh wait that’s redundant isn’t it.

It’s clear we have to either prove the Glennon Mob correct or the Glennon haters correct. Let’s see what the Bucs have. No matter what happens we’ll be drafting a QB next year. What happens this year only determines the round.

BTW the most disappointing part of this team has been the performance…bad word…the total lack of performance by the D! While everybody was worried about the O line it turns out that it’s the D line that sucks. The O line has perhaps been the best unit on the team. Special teams suck..defense sucks from the front to the back end.

If Glennon get’s adequate play from the Oline, and ASF returns at tight end this team could at least show some promise on offense. I hold little hope for the D. Yeah Levonte is great…GMAC has shown FLASHES of brilliance but between injuries and disappearing in big games can anybody say GMAC has been an impact player? If they give him boatloads of cash in the off season I’ll be disappointed. Yes he’ll go somewhere else and if it’s a great defense already like Houston’s D line or Seattle or S.F. then perhaps he can put up some big numbers.

It’s time to blow this team up. Play the rest of the year to find out who WANTS to be on this team next year. I didn’t see many in Atlanta who deserved to wear an NFL uniform. Talk about quitters!!!

  14. Tampabaybucfan Says:

We will have an opportunity to see what Glennon can do….my only problem is that he may perform just OK….leaving us with a debate going forward about drafting a QB…..my hopes are that he will be great, my fear is OK!!!

  15. Macabee Says:

I welcome the change, but this is going to help the defense how? When you’re in a plane crash, you can always close your eyes, just isn’t going to change anything! Give it your best shot Mike and good luck! #closing myeyes

  16. Soggy Says:

If everybody or most everybody can see that and have the nads to say it than why can’t the captain of the ship,,

  17. mpmalloy Says:

Yes, Joe is now a General in the Mike Glennon Mob.

I’m cleaning bread crumbs and coffee as I type this.

    Freakin’ AWESOME!

  18. SteveK Says:

Welcome, Joe, to the Bucs’ reality. It’s youngry Glennon time.

  19. Chef Paul Says:

Woah Woah Woah. Hold the phone. So, you think you can just waltz in and become a General right away? You got to work your way up and earn your trust after being the “enemy” for so long. Right now you’re just a gopher for Couch Fan and The Realist. But I know you can climb that ladder faster than any one ever has.

I’m just funnin with ya, Joe. The articles are going to be that much more fun to read now. Welcome aboard!!!

  20. Kevin1 Says:

The only reason joe wants glennon in now is so he can prove he also isn’t a franchise quarterback and will force the team to go quarterback first pick. And I’m glad. I’m with joe. This is the perfect storm to get a qb. Get mccown out early in the year and let glennon have the rest and people can see he sucks too.

  21. Zam Says:

Glennon hasn’t shown me anything either.

At least give McCown a chance once Tedford is back calling the shots.

If I owned the team, I’d be on the phone with Tebow.

  22. The Buc Realist Says:

The sad part is the time wasted, while the biggest jump in a player is usually year 1 to year 2. It did not help Glennon not getting any snaps with the first team all off-season. The Bucs roster is not that good and now they are starting behind the 8-ball.

  23. Andres Says:

    Welcome Joe! Hilarious.

  24. BucsQcCity Says:

bow down and kiss the ring Joe!

  25. MadMax ™ Says:

But Joe, why this announcement now when he’s our only option since McClown is injured?

Its cool, us MGM’ers still accept you….

Now to go sign Connor Shaw from the Browns practice squad….and I MEAN PRONTO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  26. Kevin1 Says:

    @bucrealist

    Did you say 8 ball?

    Where?

  27. OB Says:

    Joe

This is not a bandwagon, this is painfully obvious McCown doesn’t have it. I am more concerned if the coaches don’t see it. As the head coach Lovie should and as a QB guru, Tedford must know.

I wonder if this is the real reason that Tedford has not returned to duty, because everyone I know that has had this procedure done, has returned home in a day or two and to full working better than before in less than a week. If he and Lovie disagree over the QB, this would be a real big stress maker. I am old enough to remember when the Cleavland Rams moved to LA and we had our first major team.

Just like why is Bowers still on the team, I know there is a lot of better players on the various practice squads then him. If we need a receiver Shepard (sp) is on, I believe, the Jacksonville practice squad. You know this, they know this, the question is why haven’t they pulled the trigger?

  28. mpmalloy Says:

    The Mob is going National.

  29. biff barker Says:

    What’s left to lose?

  30. Soggy Says:

It’s asking alot but maybe if tedford and glennon can get something going they will unite this team and maybe lovie might even play to win..

  31. lightningbuc Says:

Joe, you can’t just join our mob and proclaim yourself a General. You will start as a private, and we will see how you do as you work your way up through the ranks.

  32. Trubucfan22 Says:

Well it’s not like this season is about trying to win games. Might as well give the worst QB in the league a shot to prove exactly how bad he is. Then next season we can draft a QB. Idk why anyone would be MGM though. I mean, beat the drum to bring in some actual talent. Kafka has a better shot at being an nfl starter than Glennon does. But oh well. There are 2 scenarios moving forward. Glennon sucks and the MGM makes a millions excuses why he sucks and beg for another year of this crap, or Glennon sucks and the MGM finally realize how bad he really is. In the unlikely chance Glennon does do good. I’ll eat my crow. But like I said, very unlikely it would need to come to that.

  33. billy buckaroo Says:

As un-organized as this offense scheme is, Glennon is probably thankful that McCown had to play most of these first three games.
I hope he can survive until coaches can figure out some things.

  34. MadMax ™ Says:

Its his site @lightningbuc, he has more pull than the rest of us….thats why I didnt say anything, lol

  35. Name Required Says:

I think Duemig may un-friend you now.

  36. Mike J Says:

As I understand it, the Bucs would have selected Blake Bortles in the 1st had he dropped to them (source: Walter Football); B.B. impressed in the pre-season & will be starting before long.If you noticed, Lovie didn’t acclaim Glennon as ”QB of the future” until the draft’s 1st day was done.

Same story for Derek Carr in rd. 2.He IS starting & has a Passer Rating of80.6 after 2 games. Not much in the way of targets, either.

  37. Bill T Says:

Fans were booing at our 1st home game, which hardly ever happens. Lovie’s decision to bring McCown in with no competition in training camp and say he’s the guy was ridiculous. Fans aren’t stupid. Most rational people were saying give Glennon at least a chance!

  38. Soggy Says:

Glennon is better than lovie at least he tries to win Lovie is a idiot..

  39. ToesOnTheLine Says:

Glad to see Mike “no chance of starting over McCown” Glennon finally get a chance this season. I did want to give Bonzai some friendly ribbing about his bold prediction that Glennon would not start barring a McCown injury (even though McCown’s play so far has warranted it), but damn MCCown went and got injured to avoid the feast of crow from the MGM 🙂

  40. deminion Says:

Funny I understand why Lovie went and got McCown but at least shuda had a QB comp go Glennonno point to keep him on the bench

  41. DallasBuc Says:

Joe- “…it’s about assessing talent, developing players, and making wise decisions”
What makes you think do-no-wrong Lovie and his lapdog GM are capable of making quality decisions after they put that disaster behind center and fielded the worst team in all of modern football?

  42. Joseph Mamma Says:

Glennon looked more poised in the pocket and ran the offense at least a little better then McCown did. McCown looked like he has been training with Blain Gabbert the whole offseason. One more point: Glennon didn’t even get a lot of the starter reps in practice that McCown did, so he’ll probably be sharper when given more reps.

  43. 77 bassguitarist Says:

Joe’s can you promise me that you won’t get scared
of the loud blow hard on the radio, when he starts in
On glennon like he always does?

Joe’s not saying Glennon can get the job done, only that he’s the only smart choice right now. Joe will not back off that stance. –Joe

  44. rayjay1122 Says:

I agree with Glennon to start for the remainder of the season. Our Defense wont be stopping anyone this year, so why not let Glennon get more experience. I still think since we get a top pick if things continue on this course, that we need to draft a franchise QB in 2015 not named Winston. I like Mariota personally. It is also a good point that defense has been handcuffed by the rules in place now, so we have to take advantage of that by getting our offense shored up for 2015 and key on thee front 7 on defense if Lovie insists on Tampa 2. Mariota and whatever it takes regardless of cost to get a solid pass rush is what we need. One other observation I made is that it seems like the CB blitzing has not been as prevalent as in the past. I remember Barber blitzing and getting sacks and tackles for a loss in the past. Not seeing that for DB’s too much these days.

  45. Stanglassman Says:

McCown was the problem, It’s all fixed now? I wish it was that easy. The only problem is that Glennon looked worst in there when he played.

  46. Buccfan37 Says:

I’ve been for Glennon since day 1, and did’nt waver when Lovie’s choice was made, as were others. It had to be many backing Glennon because a mob is not just a few opinions. Fans are fickle when it comes to their choice of a field general to put faith in to lead their team. I can understand the reasons for opposing MG8, but set your expectations a bit lower and things may work out for the better in the long run. Try to convince Lovie to go with Glennon. That won’t be easy. Go JoeBucsFan! Go Glennon! Go Bucs!

  47. BucBob1 Says:

If McCown, had been thrown into a better situation, he probably would have been okay, but obviously that wasn’t the case. I’m not sure if Glennon is the answer either. I guess we’ll find out. As soon as McCown heals, you can count on him starting again. When this happens, the MG fans will surely be upset.

  48. Maze Says:

Okay but nothing changes. Bucs still don’t have a starting quarterback. They both suck

  49. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Talking about drafting a “francise QB” is a bit premature, don’t you think…..After all, we can’t draft anyone until next April……and, we also may get a close look at Glennon for 13 games.
So, my point is…..let him play, evaluate him on his performance….then start the debate about who we draft.
Like I said…I hope it is a clear decision…..we want Glennon to either play great….or very poorly…..you choose!

  50. RealityCheck Says:

@stanglassman – It’s comments like yours that just blow my mind. “The only problem is that Glennon looked worst (worse) in there when he played.”

    McCown @ ATL – 5/12 – 58 yrd, zero TDs, 1 pick 6 INT

    Glennon @ ATL – 17/24 – 124 yard, 1 TD, 0 INTs

Yea, Glennon totally looked worse than McCown. /sarcasm

Nobody has looked as bad as McCown, including the 2 backups that beat us.

  51. Phillip Says:

Love how everyone in the MGM is saying welcome aboard when Joe clearly states he doesn’t think Glennon is going to be special lol

If that’s joining I guess my post before the Atlanta game is the same thing, as I said give McCown till the Atlanta game and then start Glennon the rest of the way to see if this second Glennon era is any different from last season and Thursday night..

MGM prerequisite to join… Delusional, denial, ignorant, repetitive, and still believe in the 90’s NFL offenses working in today’s NFL

Basically anyone can join.. They are that desperate for members.

  52. Jeagan1999 Says:

Agreed. We know what we have in McCown….we’ve seen it, painfully, in action for the last few weeks. He was brought in to get us “over the hump”….but we have regressed even further with him at QB.

Those of us in the so called “MGM” have never said that we know that Glennon will be an elite QB, just that he deserved a chance to play after the way he led the team last year. It’s time to see if he’s ready to do it!

  53. Phillip Says:

    @realitycheck

Throwing 2 or 3 dropped picks is not good.. End of conversation.

  54. bucrightoff Says:

Joe you can’t just jump right to general. Gotta work it up so Lieutenant in the MGM sounds like a good place to start. Earn that rank.

  55. BucFanInTokyo Says:

It certainly could not get any worse with Glennon under center. Glennon did well to navigate that Schiano fiasco last year. I believe he has the poise to do it. I have completely lost faith in McCown. He is not the “one”.

I feel like the rest of the regular readers of this site and am much more concerned about the defense. The only area of this team that was supposed to be of “least concern” this season.

Damn, last Thursday’s debacle still hurts.

  56. Jim Walker Says:

RIP Rob Bironas. You were a great kicker and very close to being a Buc.

  57. Luther Says:

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again now. The two QB’s that we had a chance to get were Graropolo and Carr will be two really good QB’s in this league. So sorry that we missed a chance to get either. I was ok with getting Evans and really like ASJ but we could have picked either of these guys (QB’s) late in the 1st with a trade.

  58. RealityCheck Says:

I’m sorry Phillip I don’t speak in woulda, coulda, shoulda situations. End of conversation. Is that what I write when I want to sound smart or is this a walkie talkie role play? /overandout

  59. Architek Says:

    They’re both garbage so

  60. Soggy Says:

@Phillip, Come on over man, it’s not so bad, and if not we will still love ya anyways..lol…

  61. MadMax ™ Says:

PEOPLE, DO YOU NOT SEE THAT GLENNON IS OUR ONLY QB NOW!!!

McClown is injured….CAPTAIN OBVIOUS HERE!!!!!! Yes, McCown has an injury that might keep him out a game or two. That’s not what this post is about. There are 13 games left.–Joe

Now we need to go after another young prospect to sign for the backup to MG8….and I nominate Connor Shaw!!

  62. RastaMon Says:

One thing fore SURE…Glennon and the Bucs will play just good enough to get up one draft pick away from the player we really need in each round in the 2015 NFL Draft…

  63. ANIMAL Says:

I thiink Glennon brings a different dimension to the game, but Im just not ready for it yet. Lets see what McCown can do with Tedford calling the game.

  64. bucrightoff Says:

People should be rooting that Glennon grows in year 2 to the point the Bucs don’t need to draft a QB. If you didn’t know before Thursday, this team is severely flawed and needs help with at least 5 positions (both safeties, more corners, more pass rush, linebackers besides LVD, more offensive line). Getting Mariotta or Hundley (and no, Winston is never happening with Lovie and shouldn’t either. We don’t need another mental midget like Freeman) solves nothing. Such a bad team right now, at least another year away from contending for a playoff spot.

  65. SAMCRO Says:

Joe is a flip flopper. They spent all summer trashing Glennon, and now say they are in his corner, expecting him to resurrect a team that is circling the toilet bowl. Please don’t make stuff up. Joe hasn’t flip-flopped on anything. Joe hasn’t trashed Glennon, and Joe has no expectations of a resurrection. Joe simply finds no reason any longer to play McCown over Glennon. –Joe

Again, Glennon has to prove his worth after taking over a team that has gone 0-3 to start the season, and if he struggles to right the broken ship immediately, Joe will continue to trash him all season until next years draft. I hope Glennon plays well, and can be the hero, but it is a tall order for this young QB considering the problems the team has as a whole. If Glennon was to be evaluated fairly, he should have had the whole season to do it. Not after they are in total disarray.

  66. rayjay1122 Says:

I would say that talking draft picks especially “franchise QB” may be premature but really only to the extent of naming names since the draft in MAY of 2015 not April, is a long way away. I do not however thing it is premature to begin entertaining ideas of what direction we may need to go in next spring. Even if Glennon performs well and I hope he does, our stinking, rotten, pathetic, trash defense can’t stop any NFL offense and I would wager that they could not stop most of the college offense either. Therefore, regardless of how well Glennon or the offense performs the remainder of this season which is still young, I just do not see us winning because of the lack of ability to keep other teams from scoring at will, so yes I do think talking about the draft is not premature due to our current situation.

  67. NCMike Says:

Not MGM! But it has to be done! Glad we are on the same page Joe’s

  68. theodore Says:

I say we pick Johnny Manziel next year.

  69. Dewey Selmon Says:

General? More like a foot soldier, officer positions go to fans who actually believed in Glennon during the off season, while some bashed him every chance they got. trying to convince anyone who would listen to draft Johnny Moron. Go to the back of the line. No jumping the chain of command.

  70. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    @rayjay1122

Proposed dates for 2015 NFL Draft 4/22-25….4/29-5/2…..not May….

I didn’t say it was premature to discuss the draft….I said “talking about drafting a francaise QB” is premature given that we have perhaps 13 games to look at Glennon.
There are those who have obviously declared him dead in that regard….I have my doubts but I am doing the only thing I can do…..wait and see.

  71. Phillip Says:

    @soggy

LOL! I HOPE the kid proves me wrong I really do because that means we will be winning games or atleast be competitive…

Realitycheck meets all the requirements for the MGM which are posted above but I’ll post them again in this comment for the lazy people 🙂 … Congrats and proving why some MGM are completely pointless to respond to.

Delusional, denial, ignorant, repetitive, and still believe in the 90′s NFL offenses working in today’s NFL

  72. NCMike Says:

Yep I’m sure Joes know there’s gonna be a lot of hate on this one

  73. MadMax ™ Says:

Alright Joe, thanks for clarifying …. you passed the test! Welcome aboard the MGM! 😀

  74. Wes Says:

This looks like its going to be a repeat of last year Glennon takes over we go 4-12. But I agree that McCown is not the answer. Its just a shame you wait 9 months for a new season and fresh start with high hopes and in three weeks its over! time to start evaluating for next year.
Not that excited about the QB’s coming out next year.

  75. Tomcin Says:

I agree totally with the person who said we should sign Connor Shaw. Or possibly Fales.

  76. ek Says:

I’m now upgrading my prediction to 3-13.

    PS f#ck Lovie Smith.

  77. Sapp, STFU Says:

I’m not in the amalgam. But I am all for finding out what he can do.

  78. Sapp, STFU Says:

MGM, not amalgam. Damn you autocorrect

  79. rayjay1122 Says:

    @Tampabaybucfan

I guess I was misinformed on the 2015 draft. 2014 was May 8-10 and I heard the NFL was going to go with May again. I hope they do not wait until May again…that sucked and the mock drafts had just gotten ridiculous. Yes waiting and seeing is all that can be done now.

  80. Kingpin1 Says:

Amen Joe!!! I finally agree with you.

  81. Touch_Down_Tampa_Bay Says:

Not MGM either but Pineapple McCown has gone rotten.

I was hoping to see improvement from The Cannon on preseason without having Schiano breathing on his neck. Honestly, I didn’t see any change on him this preseason.

I’m with Macabe. I support The Cannon but with my eyes close.
    The Nightmare continues????

We should trade for Connor Shaw.

Joe – Is Mason Foster coming back next Sunday?

  82. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    @ bucrightoff

You are exactly right……what idiot wouldn’t want Glennon to succeed…..it would mean.
    1. We would be winning
    2. We could draft a player of greatest need or trade the #1 pick
    3. Glennon’s low salary would permit us to afford a quality FA or 2….

Here’s the bonus….we have a experienced backup already for next year….McCown

  83. NewTampaChris Says:

I’m not sure I can support a freshly hatched chick as our QB.

  84. BirdDoggers Says:

It’s a horrible shame when a team is only 3 games into the season and the rest of the season becomes an evaluation process for next year. This is the same talk that happens every year, for the past few years running.

As for Glennon, I completely agree. The only way to find out if he can be the long term answer is to give him the chance. Not for 1 or 2 games but for the rest of the season. McCown was never the answer. Hoping for a Rich Gannon career turnaround was far fetched and with his age he was nothing more than a stop gap anyway. Another bad QB decision by Lovie.

  85. StPeteBucsFan Says:

I love the way folks read Joe and come up with crap he didn’t post.

He is NOT in the MGM. He’s simply stating that McCown is not the answer!! Does anybody disagree with that? Seriously?

And so what is left? Put Glennon in and prove the MGMer’s either correct or not.

Personally I’m neither sold on Glennon nor am I a Glennon hater. Given the horrid situation last year I thought he at least showed poise as a rookie. Let’s see what he can do over 13 games. I’m not optimistic that he is the answer. But I do believe it’s premature to simply write him off. Put him and let the tape speak for itself at the end of the year.

  88. MadMax ™ Says:

@Touch_Down…. we wont have to trade for Connor Shaw….he could be picked up right away from their practice squad….we just have to be sure to make him part of the 53 man roster (cant pluck him then place him on our practice squad)

Connor Shaw would be AWESOME here….the kid knows how to perform under pressure….Im a Gamecock, I KNOW about him!

  89. Wes Says:

If Glennon were to play the last 13 games and go 5-8 (unlikely) would that be enough for the MGM to agree he is not the future?

  90. Capt.Tim, Still in Davie Jones's locker Says:

    Might as well.

    @SurfBuc

No, it doesn’t matter. Craig Erickson, Vinny Testaverda, Trent Dilfer, Shaun King, Brad Johnson, Chris Simms, Jeff Garcia, Brian Griese, Josh Freeman, Luke McCown, Mike Glennon. Two years of decent offense spread around all of them.

  95. crazy Says:

It’s really brave to call for a QB change when the starter can’t grip the ball for another couple of weeks.

  96. Yar Says:

Welcome to the Darkside, Joe, we have taught you well.

  97. SeanyMac in SC Says:

AT the rate we are going thru QB’s we’ll need a few more guys other than Glennon. I’d like to hear some opinions on who the Bucs should get a QB. What potential free agents are out there? What could we do in the draft?

Joe said something a little worrisome the other day that he felt that Bratty Jay Cutler might find his way to One Buc Palace. The way Lovie clings to his old players, I could see that happening, but I don’t really want it to.

  98. MGM4Life Says:

I was off by a few weeks, thought the change would happen during the bye due to poor play or injury to Mclown. Never thought Mclown was a good fit, he had a lucky stint in Chicago, sort of like our 2010 season. I remember an article JOE wrote about Vincent Jackson working with Glennon last year, I think we will see that work pay off for the rest of the season. GO GLENNON!!!

  99. Phillip Says:

    @Wes

No because they will point to his stats just like last year and have a ton of excuses… Some they could mention… Vjax drops and getting old, Mike Evans a rookie, terrible O-line, rookie TE, terrible playcalling, terrible coaching, no 3rd receiving option, defense was bad, the weather is too hot, the field was terrible, we didn’t play a soft schedule, too many 4pm games, Glennon stubbed his toe, the new uniforms, we don’t have JJ Watt playing TE for us, Schiano isn’t here, they should make the field wider like in the CFL, Glennon only in his 2nd year and has 26 starts, points to rookie stats…. I could go on for days what the excuses will be 🙂

Reposted from February or March, 2014 and because of work, always late at night. In response to a post from Harry:

As noted above, there have been 51 quarterbacks taken in the first round of the NFL draft in the last 20 years. You are correct that their AVERAGE performance does improve somewhat the closer you get to the top of that round, but not as much as you might think. For instance, those 51 players have played an aggregate total of 384 seasons. If I were to pick an arbitrary QB rating as a standard against which to measure their performance, say 83.9 (MG8’s rookie rating) as an example to just pick a number out of the blue…… then there were 120 total seasons where those first-rounders had a rating higher than 83.9 (120/384=31.2%). Please note, this is ANY SEASON EVER in their career, not just their rookie seasons.
Or stated the opposite way, that means that almost 69% of those seasons resulted in a QB rating less than 83.9. Looking at the individual players, there were 17 (17/51=33%) who NEVER had a single season with a rating greater than 83.9 in their entire careers!

tickrdr charter member of the MGM

    BTW welcome Plebe, Joe!!

  103. MGM4Life Says:

Good point in previous post’s, what would Glennon have to do in the remaining 13 games???? 7-6, 8-5 ????? to say he is the one.

The way our “D” is playing MG could put up Brady numbers and we would still lose.

  104. j lynch Says:

Mc Cown”s hair should be enough reason to bench him!!!!!!!!

  105. RealityCheck Says:

@Phillip – Are you just trolling because nothing u say makes any sense at all? As Joe explained clearly in the article, there’s no point to playing McCown. There’s no upside.

Who’s making any excuses for Glennon? McCown is terrible. We should see how Glennon performs this year, and if he stinks, move on next year.

What’s so hard for you to understand about that?

  106. Oahubuc Says:

Excellent. Welcome to the dark side.

  107. tickrdr Says:

    Continued from above:

Let’s also pick an arbitrary number of TD passes in a single season…..oh say 19.(MG8’s rookie total) Out of those same 384 seasons, only 114 (114/384=30%) seasons resulted in that many TD’s. And 21 of those players (21/51=41.1%) never had a single season with at least that many TD’s. And another 9 players had a single season with 19 or more TD’s. Not even if they played 16 games. The numbers are even worse when you look for seasons with a TD/INT ratio greater than 2.1 (19/9)…… only 57 total seasons out of that 384 = 14.8%…… any season in their career, not just their rookie campaigns.

    tickrdr

  108. blackmagic00 Says:

Even if McCown didn’t get hurt, Lovie should’ve inserted Glennon at the half. Glennon may not be the answer, but what’s left? McCown sucks.

  109. tickrdr Says:

    From February:

There have been 28 total QB’s taken within the top 7 picks of the draft over the last 20 years. For them, they represent 236 total seasons. There were only 76 total seasons (76/236 = 32%) where they had a QB rating > 83.9. There were only 81 total seasons (81/236 = 34.3%) where they threw for at least 19 TD’s. And there were only 38 total seasons (38/236 = 16.1%) where their TD/INT ratio was better than MG8’s rookie season. Again that is any season in their careers, not just their rookie seasons.

    tickrdr

  110. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

I wouldn’t call myself a MGMer at all, but I am glad he is getting his shot. Whether he takes the starting role away from McCown remains to be seen. However, I don’t see how he can turns things around with the team being as bad as it is.

So, instead of heaping all kinds of expectations on the kid, I’ll be looking for individual improvement in his areas of weakness.

    @j lynch
I actually like his hair…so much that I am thinking of getting mine done the same way, lol.

McCown’s press conferences are one of the things that bothers me about him. While we heard about his leadership skills, what I’ve seen are shifty eyes and an obvious desire to not be there.

When it was rumored that he would come, I mentioned that he was prepared to retire but realized he could get a decent check first. He got it.

One bright side about not drafting a QB
If we had drafted a QB this year, he would have to play with a mess of a team, and that would have made him look a lot worse than he deserved. Fans would have turned on him quickly.

I still wish we had Carr though.

  111. tickrdr Says:

    From …….:

Finally, there were only 13 QB’s taken as the #1 pick of the entire NFL draft over the last twenty years. Their collective stats are only a little bit better. For instance, these 13 players have played a total of 106 seasons. In that time, only 43 seasons (43/106 = 40.6%) had a QB rating > 83.9. In only 49 seasons (49/106 = 46.2%) did that #1 pick overall throw for as many as 19 TD’s in a season. And in only 20 seasons total (20/106 = 18.9%) did they have a TD/INT ratio greater than Mike’s ROOKIE season. Again that is ANY season in their careers! Not just their rookie seasons.

So, the odds are less than 50% for any 1st round QB picked overall in the first round, or even picked as high as the 7th pick overall, or even IF they are the #1 pick overall in the entire draft, to have a season as good as MG8’s ROOKIE season, whether you are judging by QB rating, #td’s thrown, or the TD/INT ratio. Ever in their career. Doesn’t that intrigue any of you at all???

Phillip, these are facts not excuses.

u know what the honest to god truth is about this season and how upset this makes me and lets all be honest here, if glennon was the opening day starter. we wouldve been 2 and 1 right now instead of 0 and 3. and all you bucs fans know that , glennon might not be elite but im pretty sure he wouldnt have done the mistakes mccown has done this last 3 games

The excuses I listed if you are referring to them are because all we hear from the MGM when it comes to Glennon is excuse after excuse for the kid and why he didn’t succeed and there will be more after this season is done by them as well..

  116. Buccfan37 Says:

You sure you’re for Glennon Joe? That up close pic of his face sure looks funny. I get it now, you are pretending you are for Glennon, while secretly knowing he stands little chance of succeeding behind the monstrosity that is the rest of the team. Look, I am not saying that MG8 has any kind of lock on his future stardom, but only that he had a statistically SUPERIOR performance for a ROOKIE compared to other QB’s over the last 20 years, even most of those chosen much higher in the draft than him. In fact, over the last 20 years, ( yeah, I wasted a few hours looking this stuff up at nfl.com) of the 51 QBs chosen in the 1st round s with a rookie QB rating of 83.9 (MG8’s QB rating) or more includes the following names: Chad Pennington, Ben Roethlisberger, Philip Rivers, Jay Cutler, Matt Ryan, Jake Locker, Cam Newton, and Robert Griffin III…….. all taken in the first round, and Pennington and Locker were included even though their rookie seasons comprised only 1 and 5 games respectively.hole list. I did not leave anyone out. A few close ones included Joe Flacco (80.1), Steve McNair (81.7) and even Tim Tebow (82.1).
At least to me, that is not too shabby a neighborhood.

I don’t think he has it and want him to prove me wrong.. No spewing anything other than that… The excuses were more of a joke but you are too slow to recognize them…

You posted his stats from Thursday night but stats don’t show 3 dropped INT’s do they? They don’t show that he threw a floater into TRIPLE COVERAGE but won’t pull the trigger on a 3rd and 17 and decides to dump off for a 3 yard gain… They also don’t show that he is still too scared to stand tall in the pocket throw the damn ball and take a shot he instead turtles up EVERYTIME… No they don’t so please stop talking you are bringing down the intelligence of everyone reading your comments.

    ————————————————————————————
Certainly don’t mean to be annoying, and I do apologize for being repetitive, but I have only posted stats comparing MG8 as a rookie comparing his performance to all of the other 51 QBs chosen in the first round over the last 20 years. Your point about QBR (whatever that is) is well taken, but does seem somewhat ironic given the first part of your post. Fine, then let’s just talk about TDs thrown vs. INTs.

  133. Phillip Says:

    tickrdr

All good man seriously… I try to not come off as a complete dick but it’s hard lol… But you can’t compare Glennon to rookies going back that far…. TOTALLY different NFL now compared to then… It was impressive to throw over 4,000 yards and have 25 TD’s now it’s the standard by most QB’s are judged to be if they have an average season.

Stats don’t tell the entire story that is all I’m saying the only ones that tell some of the story are the more detailed ones… Yards per attempt in the air.. Total QBR which takes into accounts sacks and what a QB does on 3rd down… completion percentage on certain throws not just a general number… I mean ya his stats look from Thursday and even last year but that doesn’t show the other side of the argument.. That’s all I’m trying to say to the MGM… If you use stats don’t use the most basic ones out there..

Hell Freeman had 2 years of good stats does that mean he’s a good QB? HELL NO… Ryan Fitzpatrick did as well.. So did Derek Anderson for a season… Matt Schaub had numerous years of good stats would you consider him a good QB?

  136. bucrightoff Says:

Hey Phillip, you are aware Mike Glennon led the NFL in % of his yards gained through the air in the NFL last year right? And Total QBR, really? The ESPN manufactured stat to pump up the guys they like to talk about? Kaerpernick and RGIII combined have like all of the top 5 games ever in QBR. Are you saying that both those RBs masquerading as QBs are the best QBs in the game? Neither is in the top half of the league.

  137. Mumbles Says:

Macabee is right. Neither McCown or Glennon put up 56 points on us.

  138. MGM Exterminator Says:

    Josh Freeman > Mike Glennon.

Glennon can never put a team on his back and bring them back from a deficit, however small. He is mentally weaker than Freeman who by the way had clutchness as his redeeming quality. And I am no Freeman fan btw and wanted him out of town before it became the majority opinion. It is sad and pathetic that there are some Bucs fans who are gullible to stats like TDs and Ints when the eye test says the guy has accuracy issues to sustain drives and is terrified against pass rush to make any play.

If you guys were hippies I would exterminate you like Eric Cartman from South Park.

  139. StPeteBucsFan Says:

    @tickdr

Thanks for all that analysis. When Joe was pimping for Johnny showboat and the desperate need for a “franchise Q.B.” I tried to make similar points. There is NO lock on drafting a franchise QB. It’s always a crap shoot. Well not always, occasionally an Andrew Luck comes along or a John Elway but it’s rare.

I am no member of the MGM. But your points are valid. Even if we had the number one pick next year who can guarantee a “franchise QB”?

One thing is clear. We will draft at least one QB next year and if we weren’t so desperate on defense we might pull a Redskins move and draft two. Look how that has worked out for them. Their “franchise” QB may actually be the guy they picked second.

  152. SomeGuyNamedGabbo Says:

You know the QB situation is utterly terrible and hopeless when you have half the town clamoring for a 2nd year back up to start, as if he was going to somehow lead the Bucs into a new golden age.

In 4, maybe 5, games, all of the MGM will be over it, and will be begging for a QB in the draft.

The only thing that Glennon has done well over the starters in this town, is simply be the “other guy”, and Tampa, like most NFL towns, suffers from the “grass is always greener” syndrome. You chuckleheads always seem to think that the guy on the bench is going to somehow spark something, like teams are just sitting on gold, waiting to release it.

Understand: Our season is over after game 3. That’s what this means. Do you understand how utterly terrible that is? How much of a failure that is on the current regime, for a team that was supposed to “win now”?

Find me one positive that this team has to hang it’s hat on, that it can build on, that it can look to the future for. One tangible real thing, not named Gerald McCoy.

You cannot. The only thing this team has going for it right now, is “potential” and “promise” and “Lovie’s reputation.”

That’s A LOT to ask for. So I fail to see how adding yet another bit of “potential” onto that is cause for celebration. It’s not. The reason you start Glennon, is so that you can evaluate your draft board better, and decide if he’s a failure or not, and draft with your most likely high first round pick accordingly.

Not so you can turn the season around, not so you can try to scrap together a winning season, not because you believe he can do it better, but because you’re basically screwed.

Championship teams don’t have this problem. They don’t have constant questions about “competition” and depth. They have talent that’s unquestionably going to start.

The Bucs are not that. And I know it’s early, but I have a hard time thinking they will be that anytime soon. Not under Lovie Smith, not under Jascon Lieght, and absolutely not under Mike Glennon as center.

Congratulations, Tampa. You are officially the new Browns. Enjoy it.

  153. rayjay1122 Says:

I hate all of this so much. I really hope that I have to eat crow and the Bucs turn things around, but I think the Bucs winning is the true definition of fantasy football. I will just say that I primarily pull for the Bucs, Bulls and Gators and honestly these teams are causing me to withdrawal from Football all together. Every season the same crap. I am not even watching any of the games today. It is too depressing to watch other teams play real football.

  154. ToesOnTheLine Says:

I am Glennon fan and have never apologized for it. As for the question of if the Bucs go 5-8 does the MGM move on the answer is obviously it depends. If Glennon plays well most of those games and puts up 2-4 TD’s and minimal to know stupid “MCCown-Esque” turnovers/mistakes but the defense gets rolled up for 30-40 points every week the team will obviously lose games. Would that be Glennon’s fault? Would Glennon haters cry that because the team was 5-8 in that stretch that even under that scenario it was Glennon’s fault?

Were headed for 1st overall pick and none of you truly believe this guy would prevent the bucs from taking a quarterback so stop it already in getting nauseous

Enjoy it.

thanks for the opinions, and single game analysis. i challenge you to check out last years stats on glennon, and watch some tape. not saying he is a long term answer either, but you guys would’nt know a good QB if he hit you in the head with a football from 60 yards out…

manziel…. what a joke. bucs fans want a college football team in the nfl, im glad you guys arent scouting for tampa -.-

give me tricket from west virginia, thats a good QB, or maybe hill from texas A&M.

  157. WalkdaPlank Says:

Doesn’t matter one bit. If the rest of the team continues to play like they did Thursday and quit on Lovie, not even a young Peyton Manning or Joe Montana could find success on this team.

I feel bad for Glennon. This is hardly a shot to prove himself, just another season of getting thrown to the wolves.

  158. Greg Says:

Starting Glennon means his trade value is going to tank. The guy’s not the answer either (although I do agree he’s a better option than McClown). F’ing trade/cut ’em all, take all the practice squad members from the top 5 NFL teams, and you’ll get at least some semblance of a competitive team, not the crap Lovie is rolling out there now!

  159. DB55 Says:

Not to speak out a place for the MGM but Glenn it’s not going to save us he’s not the savior but he certainly not going to kill us he’s not the reaper. The just a glimmer of hope with glennon.

Either that or we get Rex Grossman. I just vomited in my mouth

  160. "that guy" Says:

lets butcher the entire team, then try to sign an entire roster after we pay the previous teams signing bonuses -.- that makes a lot of sense. equation for a losing tampa for years to come.

    ————————————————————————————–

deer in headlights freeman, the look on his face every game was like a 6 year old spotting his first set of nice titties. his comeback wins came on busted plays by the offense and the defense. he couldnt make a pre snap read to save his life. thats why the blitz worked so well against him.

  162. DB55 Says:

    Joe.

Uhm not too sure what to say about your announcement. Manzella looks like he’s been converted to wide receiver out there, going to be like throwing scatback. Just like tea bow oo00. Damn shame.

So you wouldn’t put Mclown back out the huh? Bold! So, it’s glennon then after a 0-3 start, a diminished starting squad on offense n defense. Your lg is playing hurt, center is a slinky, your other guard is a rookie that doesn’t understand that his job is to put a helmet on someone instead he walks around like which way did he go George which way did he go.

Let’s talk about rcvs. VJ can’t catch? Gtfoh! Evans should only run 3 routes as I’ve said 300 times now. Fade streak deep post. Herron poor kid either he can’t catch or he can’t jump. Not sure.

Overall the squad is worse off that with freeman and Schiano at the helm. Not sure Lovie can pull this comeback off with the likes of mike Johnson, bowers, mike Jenkins and gerald McCoy with his broken hand. I mean ouch! There’s a hurricane in the high seas buccarros hold tight and don’t drown.

Final point for the lovie lovers and his do no wrong lapdawg (TM) Julius peppers with the sack fumble recovery. Another brilliant decision along with not signing hester. Sheet I’d take Jared Allen at this point cuz Bennett wasn’t coming back here, you crazy? I know I am. But I’m right!

  163. Patrick Says:

To all you Glennon haters, what did you expect from him last year? To play like Peyton Manning in his rookie season? He played pretty well last year and I hope our team gives him a fair shot to prove himself.

  164. Capt.Tim, Still in Davie Jones's locker Says:

    Lol
Glennon has to start, due to injury.
That, Um, is the backup QB’s job.
But the Glennon Mob are ALREADY in full excuse mode
And Beaker hasn’t even took a snap yet.
    Lmao. You guys are sad.

Even the failure, known as Josh Freeman, lit it up in his first games.
Two QBs were anointed starters before him. Both played terrible, like Beaker. Short dump offs, last place offense.
    They sucked
Freeman at least showed he had something to work with. Won his first game- against Green Bay. Had electricity rest of season.
It turned to crap- but at least there was something there to begin with

Beaker has never shown anything, but the nervousness to not let a play develop- a lil pressure- and he’s right to the check down.

At least the mystery for the season is over.
We’re done. Bring on the Draft

  165. ander Says:

its funny how everybody is bashing glennon but we shall see in sunday, at least it makes the season more interesting than watching mccown because the guy is a turnover machine period.

  166. Soggy Says:

@rayjay1122 , Hear that I am watching a game of my old home town team detroit looking pretty good, Were is my bucs.. Sorry lovie but I put most all of this on you. Our Qb situation and all, hester rubbed your face in sh!t on prime time how did that feel, you must of liked it, hey there goes hester now hurry lovie you can still get him the ball you As$. Folks, score no points lovie is not a coach he is not verry smart sorry. God I miss Chucky

  167. Soggy Says:

@Lovie when chucky said pound the rock he did not mean into a pipe a smoke it..

  168. Espo Says:

Backing one crappy qb who might, just might, have a chance to improve over a 35 year old never was qb isn’t exactly ground breaking. I do think he should be given the rest of this year to be evaluated so we’ll know what moves to make next off-season.

Joe, I was really hoping for a JBF app. I can’t speak for everyone, but I know I’d pay for it. Your traffic should speak for itself and I think it’s the next step for a growing site. You can even have a Rachel Watson tribute section.

When Joe’s app is here, you’ll be the first to know. Not as easy as you think to have an app that would meet the needs of Joe’s massive readership. –Joe

  169. Paul Says:

Looks like Lovie was trying out some new QB’s today. http://www.buccaneers.com/assets/images/imported/TB/2014/Video/09-September/140920_GirlScouts.jpg

    Better form than McClown!

  170. STRICK-9 Says:

Shoulda got Connor Shaw….he’s a running QB Love & Light can covet.

  171. BigMacAttack Says:

Haha, Joes moved to the dark side. More entertaining than watching the team. I think my 5-11 prediction may have been a little optimistic. I don’t know why decent FAs come here to suck.

  172. Phillip Says:

Coach Fan… You are a dumb@$$…. Good job

  173. Phillip Says:

    @bucrightoff

Yes ESPN manufactured a stat to prove that avg QB’s are actually avg and good QB’s are actually good… I’m guessing QB rating is the end all be all when it comes to QB stats in your opinion correct? Smh

  174. Aaron Says:

    McCown had to go.

Sigh – not going to win anything with a yards per attempt around 6…

Here is to Glennon hopefully being better than what we’ve seen of him so far..

    Go bucs#

  175. Andrew 1 Says:

I’ve been a huge McCown supporter, but he has literally turned over the job to Glennon. Healthy or not, he deserves to be benched. Now it’s all up to Glennon, and if he completely bombs, then we’ll finally get our QB situation solved by drafting Winston.

On a side note, I was right about him starting week one though couch fan. lol.

  176. buc'd Up Says:

Be careful of what you wish for, I dont see much improvement in the switch. The future of the Bucs isnt on the team yet.

  177. Capt.Tim, from the Depths of Davie Jones's Locker Says:

Starting Glennon means we’ve given up, and are playing for a High draft pick
It means I get to spend more time on the boat.

It means, for the first time, my preseason prediction is gonna be off
    Way off

  178. BucFan20 Says:

So for those who think Glennon is garbage and so down on your own looks you need to make fun of a mans looks as if he had any control of how he was born. You have written the games off and what he can do? Go spend your game days somewhere else. I am sure your family would love you for it . Then come back at draft time!!!!!!

  179. Espo Says:

Thanks. I don’t know how that works. I just know I’d sign up.

  180. MR. T Says:

Totally agree and welcome aboard Joe. We need to go with MG8 from here on out to assess if he is the franchise QB or not. If we get good oline play and some decent play calling I think he’ll do well, if doesn’t do well then drafting a QB next year will be a priority. Hope Lovie comes to his senses and does this QB switch.

  181. John Sapp Says:

Josh “Nickel-Bag” Freeman would light up Lovies bucs…400 plus yards easy.

  182. John Sapp Says:

    @Rayjay1122,

It is too depressing to watch other teams play real football.

You and me both, I watched about four minutes of the Dolphins-Chiefs game and it hurt just watching the Dolphins getting pressure on Alex Smith and I sat there thinking why cant we ever do that? Watched Alex Smith avoid a sack and get rid of the ball (to a location where the defense had no chance to catch it) and I aksed myself why can’t Mclown ever do that? It hurts, man does it hurt.

  183. PRBucFan Says:

We are two games out of the South lead

    3 GAMES INTO THE SEASON

And your seriously writing about this season being over?

You truly are hilarious and not to mention that’s just stupid.

I am livid that you actually wrote that when FACT is (however small the chance) we still have 13 games of a 16 game schedule to play.

So tired of these defeatist mindsets.

  184. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

    2-1 if Glennon had started????!

    Riiiiiight!

  185. PRBucFan Says:

In time neither of these QB’s will be on this roster 😉

  186. Capt.Tim, from the Depths of Davie Jones's Locker Says:

Just to straighten out the GFG boys.
Glennon didn’t win the job. McCown got hurt- backup boy goes in

I haven’t heard anyone say he had the job- after MCCown recovers.
Don’t any of you have any memory capacity?
Didn’t any of you see gow bad he was this preseason?

This year is in the books.
Hopefully, the team learns the schemes, and to play together.
Another year of McCoys career wasted

  187. Lanny Says:

OK General Joe; Now it’s time for you to show your leadership. First assignment is to get your friend and radio partner(dog) with the program. You need to promote Glennon instead of making fun of him and putting him down. Some positive strokes on the whole team no matter how rotten they are will produce better play (just ask any parent).

  188. Joe Says:

    Lanny:

Some positive strokes on the whole team no matter how rotten they are will produce better play (just ask any parent).

Joe doesn’t believe that for a second. The Bucs have an entire website with more traffic than Joe gets that does nothing but pump out “positive” Bucs news. And the Bucs send out all kinds of “positive strokes” to their social media following of 1 million. Yet they are easily the worst team in the NFL right now.

  189. Chad Says:

Sour grapes. Very unbecoming. Take your ball and GTFO.

  192. BringBucsBack Says:

Unless Glennen absolutely lights it up, McCown will start again, once he can throw the ball. Lovie loves his QB’s (see R. Grossman).

It’s too bad that even good football coaches are often blinded by their own ego / emotions.

  193. MTM Says:

Jumping on the MGM is this equivalent of jumping from a sinking ship to a small life boat. Then switching over to a slightly larger life boat. At the end of the day you left a sinking ship.
