Not Many Reps For Dane Fletcher

Despite starting Thursday, MLB Dane Fletcher will get about the same amount of practice reps as he usually does because of the short week.
A backup’s life in the NFL means you better know your s(p)it if you are called on in the middle of a game. That is where reserve middle linebacker Dane Fletcher found himself in when Mason Foster dislocated his shoulder Sunday.
Bucs defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier noted today that despite Fletcher being set to start Thursday night in Atlanta, Fletcher is getting about the same amount of reps this week.
“It’s tough when you don’t get many reps on what you will do in a game,” Frazier said of Fletcher’s preparation as a backup. “This week is a short week. He still won’t get much work.”
Frazier had high praise for Fletcher being able to assume Foster’s responsibilities (defensive playcalling) as well as execution on the field. He also offered confidence Fletcher will be able to bridge the gap until Foster returns.
When that will be, no one knows for sure. Joe tried to pry that out of Foster today and not only did Foster not bite, he confessed his return date is up to trainers and doctors.

i think lovie is trying to appeal to fans who have interest in the current starters. but i think he sees flaws and is trying to bring in a new regime. i dont feel like the injuries are so serious that the starters that are out are unable to play, but that if they dont produce, like for instance, mccoy getting beat bye panthers rookie RG, save a sack were he came off(the line) clean because of a screen pass. how do you think he would’ve looked against davin joseph in week 2? i think lovies mentality is if you dont produce, then you wont play.
and to close i feel like dane fletcher fits a cover 2 better then mason foster.

I know this is completely off topic but after listening to you guys on 620 today I wanted to ask a question about McCown. If he is really the leader they say he is and especially having 11 years in the NFL, why not allow him to call his own plays or at least some of them? I know Manning and other established vets have been known to do that and surely it couldn’t be any worse than Arroyo’s conservative calls.

You do realize that McCoy was the number one rated defensive lineman in the NFL after week one don’t you? Right now he’s still at #12. Do you even look at stats before you post??

i dont care about stats. i care about a team effort. i know how he is rated(a massive surplus of sacks), why he is rated that way(theoretically is a great 3 technique DT), but what i see is consistency. a sack is pointless if you dont play every down. teams will convert on 3rd down if the pressure only comes on the first 2.
and notice that the defence looked better against the rams with our 2nd stringers ? mcdonald actually got a sack by BEATING his matchup. im not saying McCoy is a bad DT by any means. im just saying i feel like lovie is sitting him while a could be playing because of the way he produced in week one.

We’ve had the same starters for a few years now with no results, tired of hearing their mouths all week but can’t do anything on Sunday. I’m hoping some of these injured players comeback to find they have to earn their jobs back maybe they’ll play harder when given a chance. Castillas what a waste of a roster spot

I’m so onboard with that idea, I wanted foster on the outside last year SLB that’s the position he played when he led the main in tackles, is it really hard to make that change
