“He Ain’t No Slouch”
September 12th, 2014Some think the Rams’ quarterback situation is “horrible,” and that’s even if 34-year-old backup-turned-starter Shaun Hill is ready for the Bucs on Sunday.
Goodness, Hill only has a 13-14 career record as a starter with 41 touchdowns and 24 interceptions. Those are only slightly better than Josh McCown’s numbers.
But one Buccaneers player isn’t discounting Hill.
Safety and once-upon-a-time Pro Bowler Dashon Goldson spent three years as Hill’s teammate with the 49ers and praised him on WDAE-AM 620 last night.
“I think he’ll play. Shaun’s a tough guy,” Goldson said of the likelihood of Hill starting Sunday. “I have some history with Shaun. I was in San Fran with Shaun. Shaun’s a good quarterback, man, he did some good things in this league, going out to Detroit, too, and starting and winning some ball games for them. So he ain’t no slouch.”
Lovie Smith has referred to Goldson as an extra coach because of his football knowledge and the way he carries himself.
In addition to squeezing footballs in his hands, Joe’s hoping Goldson can impart helpful wisdom about Hill, assuming Hill plays. He had a mysterious quadriceps injury against the Vikings on Sunday and was yanked from the game.

Lovie need to rephrase his outlook about the Hawk until he can catch the ball when it matters!

Take Dashon away from San Francisco’s D, and I’d put my money on the fact that he’ll never make the pro bowl again.

With Lovie’s eye for offensive talent, I’m shocked, shocked I say we didn’t sign Hill as our starter…

Is it true Adrian Clayborn is out for the year? If it is, his Tampa career is done 🙁

That Shaun Hill has a job in the NFL never ceases to amaze me.

His numbers aren’t too bad considering he played back-up for crappy San Fran teams and even crappier Detroit teams!

Exactly why is this guy nicknamed “the Hawk”?
September 12th, 2014 at 12:34 pm
@1987 – Because hawks are notorious for their inability to properly grasp football-shaped objects hurled directly at them.
September 12th, 2014 at 12:35 pm
…also, they can’t properly wrap up when tackling and must rely on spearing opponents with their heads.

Don’t sell yourself short , you’re a tremendous slouch.

“Those are only slightly better than Josh McCown’s numbers.”
And yet 19-9 sits on the bench…unleash the Cannon 🙂
