Today’s Sammie Stroughter signing is another step in a nice comeback story for a young wide receiver who battled debilitating depression in college and fell to the Bucs in the seventh round.

Stroughter impressed the Bucs in OTAs and he is signed, reports the team via Buccaneers.com

“We’re very happy with what he’s doing,” said [offensive coordinator Jeff] Jagodzinski. “He hurt his hamstring so he missed some time with us, but we thought that he was coming along and doing some things, what we drafted him for, playing some stuff in the slot.”

When a draft pick is signed, he grabs a roster spot, and the Bucs had to make a move to give Stroughter a slot. In fact, they cut three today: USF receiver Amarri Jackson, first-year linebacker Jamall Johnson and rookie cornerback Evan McCollough.

Joe is a bit sad about McCollough and will toast him with a cold beer tonight.
