An Exciting Prospect
August 1st, 2014Watch Bucs general manager Jason Licht talk about rookie tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins and you will see a grown man’s face light up as if Carmella Garcia was whispering naughty thoughts in his ear.
ASJ hasn’t performed a ton of work with the first-team or second-team offense in training camp thus far. He’s still somewhat learning the ropes after missing spring workouts recovering from ankle surgery and attending classes at the University of Washington, which conflicted with the Bucs’ schedule.
When ASJ does get on the field, this dude is a matchup nightmare. Think a young Vincent Jackson playing tight end.
On occassion, ASJ even lines up at the slot, if for no other reason than to scare innocent cornerbacks.
Amanda Borges of SportsTalkFlorida.com has been watching ASJ and she files a view on the Bucs’ rookie.

Joes
Carmella Garcia would hurt you bad, so be careful when looking.
As for ASJ, can’t wait to see all of the forest in action.

Imagine if everything comes together just right and we have this crazy huge and productive offense?!? 🙂

The Saints and Jimmy Graham know this.
Line him up wherever it stretches the coverage.

I’m excited about this kid, still not sure why Myers is here.

Joe. Are you going to write an article on the nfl player tracking?
Probably when we see it work. –Joe

Watching this guy play is kind of like watching a basketball player play football. He’s just smooth running his routes, and kind of boxes people out when he’s asked to block. He definatly is a beast, but I’d like to see him be a little more aggressive. Wish the coaches could teach him to throw his weight around a little bit. He could absolutely destroy CBs physically if he wanted to.

I felt Jenkins was the best TE in the draft! A lot of people forgot about him and/or ranked him lower because of his injury and not being able to attend the combine. This was our best draft pick this year!

Very happy with this pick……here’s one position that we probably have the 2nd & 3rd best TEs in the division!!!

everytime we go down this road with our offense, we get let down: our “best ever” keenan\keyshawn WR tandem under gruden that dissolved after 24 games; the epic tease of the michael clayton\chris simms\cadillac williams “triplets” anchoring the franchise; the “elite” OL dominik and schiano assembled; and of course the dominant potential of VJax with an up-and-coming mike williams. i’m gonna suspend my optimism for a change and let the bucs prove to me they can trot out a consistently productive offense before i drink the kool aid this time.

You’re not going to see this kid become very productive until 2015. Don’t get too excited for him and Evans this year. Rookies seldom do much, and even Graham took until year 2 to really get going. Have some patience.

This is the first time I have ever read that it was a ankle injury I have always seen it as left foot stress fracture. Was it the ankle?

Rachel’s got it all over Carmella. She is just as beautiful without makeup. Naturally gorgeous.
