Bullish On Kadeem Edwards
July 31st, 2014Despite all the uplifting, positive items coming out of Bucs training camp, it has done little to douse the anxiety of fans surrounding guard play.
Since Carl Nicks couldn’t play any longer on that ugly toe of his — which was not in any way a shock or surprise to the Bucs — the thought of Oniel Cousins starting at guard has Bucs fans drinking heavily these days.
If you listen to a former NFL scout, the binge drinking may be four naught. The smart Daniel Jeremiah of the NFL Network, a former NFL scout, believes the Bucs may already have the answer to their guard issues on the roster. That would be rookie Kadeem Edwards.
OG is probably my biggest concern for the Bucs offense. Keep an eye on rookie Kadeem Edwards…raw player with very good feet and knee bend

The issue with Edwards, initially, is that the NFL is not Division I-AA. That’s a steep learning curve. Sure, it is nice that Edwards is being baptized in practice by arguably the best defensive tackle in the game, Gerald McCoy. But again, this is practice, not a game.
Going up against Kevin Hardy, for example, right away in a game that counts, will be a whole lot different for Edwards than facing GMC.

It’s “Greg” Hardy and there’s a great chance he’s probably going to be suspended for the 2 to 4 games of the season.
“Kevin” Hardy was an excellent player. –Joe

Greg Hardy is not going to be suspended until after December and probably not until next year.

Hopefully Hardy will be suspended.
3 step drops!!
Go Bucs!

@Joe, yes I remember him well…
@Phil
Rice was suspended without a trial, Hardy was found guilty in his, even though he appealed, he could still be suspended by the league.

Also Hardy plays defensive end joe, so Edwards won’t be blocking him. He will be blocking Star Loutilleli

If Edwards isn’t stupid and has the pride he should have, he is learning every day against GMC & Company and I know the growth curve is straight up and when he faces Hardy or anyone else I am sure he is going to think this is a hell of a lot easier than GMC every day.
The big difference will be that GMC will probably be buying after the workouts and Hardy or whomever will not be after the game.

It’s a lot easier to start a rookie at OG than at tackle. If the kid can hold his own on passing downs I think they should start him. Everyone knows that Cousins is at best a stop gap, and a pretty poor one. If they can do remotely better with Edwards, they have to at least try it. If they intend to use a quick passing game and avoid running up the guy like Schiano and company tried to do endlessly – it can work.

When St. Louis comes in to play us, Aaron Donald will destroy us, a player I wished the Bucs drafted.
