Damn, if this NFL Network video won’t get you jacked up for Buccaneers football, then you might want to check your pulse.
The good folks at the Man Channel were at practice yesterday (Joe can still hear Warren Sapp in his ear; them man never shuts up.) and they “mic’d up” Lovie Smith.
The result was that video linked above. Enjoy it!
One thing to note is the serious teaching of Alterraun Verner. Joe has seen this since Day 1 of April minicamp. This regime is determined to have Verner playing instinctively out of the gate during his first season in the Tampa-2 defense.
Also, Lovie takes a playful shot at Alabama football and his fascination with Jeff Demps shines through, among other goodies.

Man, nice move by Verner, quick feet. I’m ready to wear my Bucs gear with pride out here in the Great North West. I always represent my bucs, wish I could get home for a game a Ray Jay this year.. Go Bucs!

Fired up!!! On another note: how about the Bucs trading a couple running backs (James, Rainy) for their O-lineman that wants a new contract(his name escapes me).

I was surprised at all the 1 on 1 coaching by Lovie, he may seem laid back but he is very detail oriented.

Hilarious!
I think Lovie wants this to be the best defense in the NFL, and I believe it can be that over the next year or so.
On a side mark, Mason Foster is looking REALLY, REALLY good out there! Seems he has the pass coverage skills some fans claim he doesn’t have!

Posted earlier that Boone is a guy that is instant help. I think he was rated by PFF at #8 last season. Hence he wants a better contract.
The Niners are in straights dire cap wise but see no need to let him go for cheap. They hold all the cards time and leverage wise.

I. Love. Our. Head. Coach.
It’s been a loooooooong time since I’ve felt that way. I’ve forced my enthusiasm for our last two HCs because I wanted to believe that they were what was best for my beloved Bucs, but with this new regime, it just has a different feel to it. The respect that Coach Smith’s presence brings is something that has been sorely missing for far too long. Add the fact that he KNOWS how to be a HC at this level, and you have a recipe for sustained success.
I’m going out on a Homer limb here, but I truly believe that we will once again relish Sundays. The D will lead the way initially, and if Coach Tedford’s offense can keep our D fresh with sustained drives, this definitely will be a roster that no other club will want to play against. If this comes to pass, the long-forgotten home field advantage will once again be in full force. Some of most cherished football memories I have are of the crowd at Ray Jay, especially “TAMPA!!!!!!” coming from the west side of the stadium, while the east side yells back “BAY!!!!!!”. Go Bucs!!!

Mason Foster breaks out all year this year, and it’s only the stat junkies that reference PFFocus and other math sites that claim Foster can’t cover, I’ve been a fan since the OchoCinco hit back on 2011.

Whoa hooo. Did you notice the immediate change in vibes between last year and this year. OMG. Lovie is the one to treat men like men while giving them all the good notes….that got me pumped. And he tells them the truth about where they are and they rest of the NFL> Liking it. Afraid to get too pumped. I suffer too much when it ain’t good.

Piratic, I know exactly how you feel…
This staff has an entirely different feel to it. Raheem’s bunch were man-boy incompetents from the top down. Schiano felt like a bunch of 3rd level cast-offs, although I did like Wannstadt.
But these guys? Seem like top-shelf pros.
