100 Degree Heat Index For Today
July 28th, 2014There’s a reason Buccaneers have been getting super close to fans attending training camp. There was about 20 inches of shade on the practice fields of One Buc Palace yesterday, and defensive players managed to find it.
Where the open fields met the fan bleachers created that long sliver of shade.
During offense-vs.-defense work, most of the first-team defense lined up in that area to catch a quick break from the searing afternoon heat. Mason Foster seemed to enjoy the proximity to fans as he stood leaning on a pole listening to praise for his interception of Josh McCown.
Per Weather.com, the swelter will be full force today. The forecast heat index is to hit 100 degrees during the 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. practice.
Of course, Joe will be out there sweating his footballs off and providing you all kinds of meaty goodies from practice. Stick with Joe throughout the day and night.

And now do we get to take advantage of the white unis at home in the heat.
Love to see visiting teams in their dark unis in the hot afternoon Florida sun!

I’ve often wondered if practicing in such conditions affects the success of the installs and the players ability. Would it be more affective to practice indoors during the first two weeks of camp to get game plan installed and the last few weeks to get used to heat. Just a thought.

I think to take full advantage of the heat, That when the players have water break and cool downs. All players should wear those old Sun Tan Reflectors around your neck. Then when game time comes 100 degress will just feel like 80 degrees.

A Panthers fan once came on here and claimed it gets just as hot at their training camp.
I decided to compare. Their forecast temp for the day lingers around 91.
Their ‘feels like?’
Also 91.
So if that kittens fan is still around, I make my case. It’s training camp time and there is a huge difference. And come August, our on field feels like temp will be around 120.

Pfft, it has actually been 100 degrees a few days this past week here in Tulsa.

Not sure what’s worse. 90+, 70% humidity, feels like 107 (per Accuweather) in Tampa or 67 with 78% humidity (very unusual) in Colorado in July. I have the heater running while driving…in July

@Mort,
Tulsa doesn’t have humidity does it? 😉
