“I Owe It To This Team”
July 24th, 2014Fresh off playing good citizen for an intoxicated lady, and getting called out by his general manager, embattled Bucs defensive end Da’Quan Bowers was one of the early arrivals to Bucs training camp this morning.
Always a pretty mellow guy, Bowers was talking a big game at One Buc Palace.
Asked about Jason Licht’s comments — “Da’Quan Bowers needs to prove to us he wants to be on this football team,” Licht said. — Bowers agreed.
“I owe it to this team,” Bowers said. … “It’s about time.”
Bowers added he “put in the work” this offseason and it’s “the best I’ve felt” entering a training camp.
The 24-year-old, fourth-year defensive end said he’s a big fan of the new regime. The “scheme excites him,” he said.
Joe wishes Bowers luck. He’s run out of excuses.
Joe suspects Bucs fans will be able to easily judge how Bowers is performing. If he’s here in two weeks, it’s because Lovie Smith believes there’s still something there.

I root for him but Gholston and/ or Clayborn might take over the other DE starting position. May the best productive player win that spot!

Cheeseburger was so out of shape just a month ago his coach called him out in public. And ONLY a month later he says he “put in the work” this offseason and it’s “the best I’ve felt” entering a training camp. Such bulls(p)itt.
Don’t get me wrong, I would love to see him shine. I (stupidly) thought he was a steal when we got him. But him saying he “put in the work” is like his goal of double digit sacks last year. Its definitely “show me” time

MORE MORE MORE JOE !!!!! Glued to this today. Go Bucs !!!

Money talks and BS walks………This clown has made money, basically stolen it, owners should charge him with theft every Monday when checks go out…..thus far, no return on investment and nothing but BS…..would prefer he say nothing at all and let his play do the talking for him…..besides, who out there even cares one iota what Bowers has to say…..

Rick stroud tweeted that Carl nicks has been running at one buc place

Harry,
Putting in the work for one month is probably the most work he has done before TC, so I’m not surprised this is the best hes felt coming into TC

I think Lovie will give Bowers more than two weeks. Probably up to the first round of cuts when they have to start mandatorily reducing the roster.

More pics Joe. Would be nice to see all the main players arriving.. Big Day let’s go!!!
July 24th, 2014 at 8:52 am
Funny that he says he’s put in the work when Coach Cullen was calling him fat and out of shape last month.

Show us. However my $$ is on Will Gholson
July 24th, 2014 at 8:58 am

It’s Go Time! Wish him the best…

let’s see guys. this guy is talented. he was going to be the number one overall pick. lets see if this new found motivation gets him to play as we expect. I am sure we are all pulling for you Bowers. his success only make the bucs better.

The DL has both new players and a new vibe this season. Spence Clayborn and Gholston are looking to prove something.
The ever intense Cullen will bring even more out of this unit.
Bowers needs to get real serious in a hurry.
July 24th, 2014 at 9:24 am
Joe the network is going to go down if you don’t hurry up and tell us who has the honor to be No.1. You will have 1 million hits by noon today. Bucs fan want to know. People are skipping breakfast, calling in sick. The worst part is you are causing a distraction at One Bucs Palace. Employees, players and coaches can’t do their work due to your delay. You are holding up the 2014 season.
Come on… 🙂
July 24th, 2014 at 9:28 am
Its really a shame because Bowers has dominating talent…what a waste!!!
July 24th, 2014 at 9:32 am
If you can’t get fired up to play for Lovie, its a lost cause.
July 24th, 2014 at 9:37 am
I wish him the best of luck, but he is on his lasts straw here. Hope he makes it count because the man is full of ability and he’s got the physical gifts to be a star. He needs to put in the work.
July 24th, 2014 at 9:41 am
If he’s still out of shape, cut him today.
No excuse for being out of shape at this point.
Please cut this trash.
July 24th, 2014 at 9:42 am
Would love to see Bowers play up to his potential. But it’s pretty simple. Do it now or move on. His career is on the line. I’m guessing he knows it and will give it his all. Is it enough? We’ll know shortly.
July 24th, 2014 at 10:04 am
All you people saying its only been a month, he could still lose some serious amount of weight in that time. I lost close to 30 pounds in one month, just by exercising every other day and eating right. So it can be done. We’ll see if he’s been putting in the work soon enough.
July 24th, 2014 at 4:40 pm
Because I know u r a GOD fearing man Bowers, GOD BLESS and keep healthy you and all your teammates and coaches. May the best players make the final cut, and may those who don’t still get a chance to prove their worth either here or elsewhere, Amen.
