The Countdown: Worst 20 Buccaneers Of The Past 10 Years — No. 12
July 16th, 2014Endless Top-Whatever lists across the Internet got Joe thinking of the Tampa Bay drought since their Super Bowl glory. Not a playoff victory since! And that motivated Joe to rank the 20 worst Buccaneers of the past 10 years.
Serious deliberations went into this at JoeBucsFan.com world headquarters.
Beers bottles were thrown. Game film came out. Arguments ensued. Chants of Sabby from wild interns were quieted by Joe. There was even an all-night screaming session where a top intern stood on a table and repeatedly yelled, “Put the damn Rockstar on the list!!” Joe had to give the poor kid a Hooters Calendar just to calm him.
Primary consideration was given to expectations for a player combined with on-field performance. Off-field behavior was a factor, and players were not punished for injuries.
No. 12 — left guard Keydrick Vincent (2010)
Back in the old days, when Team Glazer and former rockstar general manager Mark Dominik talked about free agents as if most were evil demons who could deliver a team a nasty infection, the Bucs didn’t do much before the NFL Draft. The draft was where it was at. Build that “lasting contender.”
But in July 2010, (yes, July) a big offseason acquisition was made on offense, veteran guard Keydrick Vincent, who hard started all of the past season for the 8-8 Panthers. He was to replace left guard Jeremy Zuttah, who had replaced Arron Sears the year before.
Well, Vincent started the first five games of that 2010, promptly got cut, and never played a down of NFL football again.
The Bucs’ running game exploded after Vincent’s departure with rookie Ted Larsen filling in as part of the Bucs’ patchwork offensive line, one that later included James Lee and Derek Hardman. (And some of you thought Larsen would make this list. Ha!)
No. 13 — Dre Moore No. 14 — Kevin Ogletree No. 15 – Sean Mahan No. 16 — Da’Quan Bowers No. 17 — Daniel Te’o-Nesheim No. 18 — Kyle Moore No. 19 – Jeremy Trueblood No. 20 – Michael ClaytonThe Countdown: Worst 20 Buccaneers Of The Past 10 Years will run once or twice daily until No. 1 is revealed on Thursday, July 24.

Man, if we could only see that kind of magic again in the o-line this year…

Not so ironically a top 5 finalist is also seen in the picture.

Wow, I totally do not remember this guy. Probably a good thing if he made the list.

I was one of the biggest proponents of getting rid of Josh Freeman, but I seriously doubt he is going to make this list just because he checked out in 2013.

I completely forgot about him. I remember having high hopes for him, only to be smacked down by the reality that he was awful. Absolutely awful!

Yeah, I don’t see Freeman making this list. He had too many good games to warrant that worst 20. In spite of how he left, for a couple of seasons he many of us fooled. Except Boomer Esiason, maybe.

Wow that’s a blast from the past. I had totally forgotten ole Keydrick.

I don’t understand the list. Vincent played years in the NFL. Dre Moore I don’t think got a season? Both sucked for us but one was just a UFA that we cut one was a 4th round pick. Where is d ward! Ha. Zemitius(sp), josh Johnson the tease, Chris colmer? Bowden the punter(maybe because drafted late). So many more. We all know worst of all…wr dexter Jackson. Thanks Bruce Allen for that one. Good thing we didn’t do past 20 years. McKay would have made the list a ton! Bert Emmanuel or reidel Anthony even. Harper. How we all forget 😉

Offseason blows

LIke many others, I totally forgot about this guy. When Joe told the story of him being cut in the middle of the season, I somewhat remember that. I recall a guy like suddenly disappearing. Too funny.

Keydrick Vincent? Wow, I thought I paid fairly close attention to Buc players. Never heard of this player. Forget about seeing familiar names fans think should be on the 20 worst. Obscure short term players might finish out the list. When you run a Bucs site and your job is all football, a lot of crap players float to the top of the worst.

lightningbuc,
True, on the other guy in the photo not making the list, BUT he is the #1 disappointment in franchise history. It was awful to watch him crumble after just setting franchise records the year before. And, what makes it the worst IMHO, is the way he went out. He and his agent leaked info and tried to torpedo Schiano and ultimately the Bucs. It’s one thing to quit, or have issues, but to have the nerve to potentially leak something to attack Schiano’s integrity is ludicrous. Whomever made the leak is a rat, and the most disappointing Buccaneer of all time. Without a shadow of doub te WORST.

As for Mr. Vincent, he was no bueno for the Bucs. Good call Joes and apesh!t intern(s).
🙂
July 16th, 2014 at 11:43 pm
Lol! He could be somewhere.
Is The_Buc_Realist a intern on the side?
July 17th, 2014 at 7:37 am
Candidates for the remaining spots that spring to mind:
Sabby
Gaines Adams
Josh Bust-in-reality Freeman!

SteveK,
I hear ya. Definitely the biggest disappointment. But even my dislike for his on field ability can’t put him in the 20 worst players.
And, yes he did quit on us, but I’m glad he did because it just helped speed up the inevitable.

if Kenyatta Walker is not #1 then I just don’t know what’s right anymore
July 17th, 2014 at 10:43 am
Sorry folks, Freeman has virtually no chance of making this list. The magical 10-6 team was done primarily through the magic of #5. The 7 wins in 2012 and #9 ranked offense (to go with 4000 yards and 27 TDs) would seem an insurmountable task for the 2013 team.
Two great seasons sandwiched between three not so great ones doesn’t make a guy an all-time worst.
July 17th, 2014 at 11:19 am
Freeman is #1.
Joe you have interns?
July 17th, 2014 at 12:05 pm
Eric Wright has got to make the bottom 20 list!
Freeman might get on dis-honorable mention.
