As Joe reported Wednesday, John Lynch is coming home. Sort of.

The native of San Diego will return to his NFL nest to broadcast three of the Bucs preseason games for WFLA-TV, Channel 8 locally.

Wednesday afternoon, Lynch appeared with the dean of Tampa Bay sports radio, “The Big Dog,” Steve Duemig on WDAE-AM 620. Lynch had quite a few interesting things to say and the interview in its entirety can be heard here. Among the things Lynch discussed with “The Big Dog” was that defensive coordinator Jim Bates, who Lynch played for in Denver, should be given not only time to form a solid defense, but needs the right type of players to fit his defense.

Lynch also noted that he is perfectly happy and excited about his “new chapter” in his professional career as a broadcast analyst.
