Blade-in-the-back rookie Chaz Sutton has impressed the Bucs heirarchy
It appeared the last straw for receiver Mike Williams under the new Bucs regime was the blade he took in the leg from his brother. The gall of Williams to get sliced by a sibling!
This came on top of the nerve of Williams to burn food on his stove, dabble in rap music, drive his car too fast, and allegedly have a Tempur-Pedic on his front lawn and a stripper pole in his living room.
The man was a clear danger to society — or a fun guy who needed to watch more Food Network and stay away from family.
Regardless, it’s now clear the Bucs have no prejudice against stabbing victims like Williams. One of the two named standouts among the Bucs’ crop of undrafted free agents is Chaz Sutton, the defensive end who played opposite Jadeveon Clowney at South Carolina. Bucs general manager Jason Licht made the proclamation last night on SiriusXM NFL Radio.
During some pre-draft shenanigans, Sutton was stabbed in Manhattan two months ago.
Meanwhile, teammate Charles “Chaz” Sutton, 24, suffered a minor stab wound to his back when a man attacked him on the street about 50 minutes later, sources said.
Cops on patrol saw the scuffle and followed Sutton to the nearby Trump Soho hotel.
Sutton didn’t realize he had been stabbed and refused medical attention, sources said. He claimed he had been at Greenhouse but left to avoid a fight after a dispute with a man who followed him out and attacked him.
Hmmm, Sutton must not have very sensitive skin. That story actually reminded Joe of when former Bucs linebacker Geno Hayes was tased by Tampa cops but was unaffected.
Sutton had three sacks for the Gamecocks last season and five as a pass-rush specialist in 2012.
The other undrafted standout referenced by Licht was defensive tackle Euclid Cummings. Joe’s been telling you to watch out for that guy. Gerald McCoy already has his hooks in Cummings and the Bucs’ coaching staff was on to him weeks ago.

While MW certainly was the victim of a stabbing, it didn’t help matters when 911 gets called… there are 8 or 9 people in the house and NO ONE will give law enforcement a statement. Not “it was a mistake… it was an accident”.. just a 911 call FROM MW’s house that there was a stabbing, we need the police….. and then crickets chirping. Working in law enforcement, I find it surprising that people will call 911 and then not cooperate (please note the sarcasm in the last statement as it, unfortunately, happens all the time)

So tired of hearing about Mike Williams victimization (wrong place/wrong time) references. Dude is gone. The guy is coming off of hamstring surgery and we just got a guy that is younger, more athletic, taller, and CHEAPER. Regardless of Williams being a victim of his circumstances (BS) since college, L&L did not want the distraction. PERIOD. I don’t understand why that is so hard for Joe to fathom. Williams getting traded is getting more references than when “rockstar” cut Derrick Brooks. I don’t get it. let it go… Just had to vent.

Good to get some depth on the line. Need to have someone on backup other than that scrub Daquan Bowers. Akeem Nicks is decent, but god forbid we lose to defensive linemen.

I was stabbed in the stomach while serving in the Navy trying to help my friend out of a bar fight. Between the adrenaline rush and the knife being very sharp (plus a few pitchers of beer) I did not feel a thing.

So apparently Sutton is ok as a pass rusher, but dreadful at stopping the run. I really want a better pass rush, but don’t want us to become Undisciplined vs the run.

It wasn’t the blade to the leg, it was the fact that the guy got into a physical altercation with his brother, rather than diffuse the situation or call the police like he should have done.
That, and the fact he wasn’t good enough to tolerate all the baggage.

Mike Evans is twice the football player, and human being, that Mike Williams is anyway.

I don’t want to continue kicking this dead horse because Williams is no longer a Buc, but, honestly I’m with Joe on this one. I don’t get why he was traded and why people continue to bash him here. He was a decent #2 receiver.
Now, to the present: Depth, depth, and more depth. Playing with Clowney is irrelevant seeing as he was irrelevant last year.

Joe- You make it sound like MW was a choirboy…gone a little wrong. What about the alleged fines for missed meetings, therapy, etc. that never was completely told by the media (see JBF). He had become a trouble-maker that just wasn’t worth the aggravation for a new coach and a new direction for the franchise. Getting the draft picks we got, upgrades the entire receiving corps and, to date, upgrades the quality and professionalism of the entire squad.
